Shake Shingle and Roll Roofing (SSRR) just finished our roof. We got a new roof (shingles), new wood (4x8 sheets), dry rot and termite damaged wood replaced. They did a stellar job. I am very picky, very hard to please and have a keen eye for detail. I could not be happier.The initial presentation from Dave set the tone. He shows up with the all the brochures of the products, warranty information, specs, SSRR certificate of insurance (which has all the insurance companies info from liability, workers compensation and so on). I wanted to make sure that their insurance policy covered torch down work - he also had his policy with that section highlighted for me. All those documents he gave to me. Dave was articulate intelligent/very knowledgeable - addressed all our (my wife and I) concerns and he's just a great guy.Next on the team is Steve - he functions as a supervisor/foreman. I put him through his paces. I walked the job every day when I got home from work and voiced/texted my concerns. He was responsive, patient, professional and made sure my wife and I were happy with the job.Lastly, but certainly not least is Armando. An amazingly hard working man. Very skilled knowledgeable roofer. He also listened and was responsive to all our concerns. Whatever they are paying him, it's not enough!At the end of the job Dave reappears to remind me about the warranties and deadlines. He said to call them back out at the 7-8 year mark so they can make sure everything is good and again in 14-16 years to make sure we get the maximum life out of our roof - those inspections are at no charge.My wife and I highly recommend Shake Shingle and Roll Roofing.

I went with Shake, Shingle and Roll after a Neighbour gave them a glowing endorsement. They just replaced my roof and I couldn’t be happier. From the first consult through clean up they were professional, very responsive and timely. Before this I worked with several roofers for my flat garage roof and it didn’t go well. Met Dave Knutson in 1992, in his earlier years of building his business. It was contractors like myself who got him to where he is today, business wise, by recommending his business. Always considered him to be an honorable person to do business with, until recently. He refused to give us an estimate on a project in the works. Our referrals to his business has brought to him over the years thousands of dollars.His refusal to do an estimate, is the reason we give three stars."Good people do good things for good people" It's our Motto for decades.Their reply to the review,"using vulgar language"possible, don't recall.But can affirm that if it did happen it would have been after requiring we put up $300.00 for the inspection, something that was never required in the past, and as stated to the operator, SSRR had only once given us an estimate in the last thirty-years that they didn't get the work.If we're going to air the laundry let's get it all out there and let the public decide.

I had called Shake Shingle and Roll roofing to come out and my nearly-flat roof. I was impressed with how thorough and professional their paperwork work was - they address everything, and include their insurance - workers comp, hot torch, etc. (The guy who had done this roof 3 years ago used someone else's license illegally.) But Shake Shingle and Roll came out right away. NO long wait. Dave was incredibly professional. I had put down a deposit. Ultimately, the guy who had his license used illegally stepped up and fixed the leaks at the skylights. But Dave at Shake Shingle and Roll made sure my deposit was returned immediately. If I ever have roofing problems again, I'm calling Dave!UPDATE: Well, the "other guy" who had originally installed the roof never showed up. I went back to Shake Shingle and Roll, and they immediately came out and installed a new almost-flat roof over that side of the house. Price was great, service was excellent. The leaks are gone.

I've used this company twice for roof repairs and roof maintenance, so when I discovered water and water stains coming from my ceiling air registers, I called SS&R. Kathy and Dave worked together to squeeze me in for a quick inspection in between jobs. Dave arrived within an hour, assessed the situation, and told me he'd fix it as soon as the rain stopped and the roof was dry. I know my roof is getting old and when I decide to get it repaired or replaced, this is the company I'm hiring. They're up front, honest, and do great work! They are awesome. They did my roof years ago and recently came and did some leak repairs on my patio and a few other things on my roof. They are very responsive and so nice and they make sure everything is done satisfactorily. This company is top notch. My roof is not the best (not installed by these guys) and when I need a repair I contact S-S&R Roofing. They have come out twice for me. This time I was getting some leaking during the string of 4 storms coming into CA 2023. I assumed that they had bigger fish to fry so I asked to be put on a waiting list for when they were available. Their office manager called me and said they had some time between jobs the same day. Midday Dave rolls in assesses my leak and puts in a patch job right where it was needed. Our family cannot thank Dave, Pricilla, and the Shake Shingle and Roll team enough! For over 25 yrs, their craftsmanship and quality have kept the roof over my grandparents very well. More specifically, Shake Shingle and Roll installed the first roof on my Grandparent's home over 25 yrs ago and the roof lasted long past its rated shelf life. With that being said, when it came time for that roof to be renovated and updated, there was no question about who our family wanted to do the work.When COVID-19 hit, our installation needed to be put on hold. Dave and Pricilla kept in touch with us and even provided options to consider to keep prices as low as possible while prices on materials in the roofing industry began to rise. Never did we ever feel pressure to move forward or any obligation.When the time was right for us to get started, the installation team was extremely fast and paid close attention to detail. We were impressed by the magnet sweeping done as a part of their clean-up process in an effort to capture roofing nails that may have landed at ground level around the property. Our family couldn’t be happier with the upgraded and installed roof from Shake Shingle & Roll, especially with all of the rain that we San Diegans are getting most recently! We are extremely happy with our new roof. The company, from the office staff to the project lead to the owner all went above and beyond to ensure we were satisfied and addressed concerns promptly. Even when I asked them to start work on the opposite side from their planned approach so I could finish an online class in the room below, they simply picked up their tools and started on the other side. There’s a reason we see this company roofing homes all around our neighborhood. Their pricing is fair and competitive, their scheduling is not too far out, work progressed quickly, the quality is top notch, and the customer service is outstanding! Experienced roofers. Very good products. Used them 20 years ago and had no problems with my roof. Only reason for new roof now is that I'm about to install solar panels. SSR Roofing will inspect the roof again after the solar company finishes their installation to make sure the roof is not compromised.The company and the people who work there are good and know their business. It's important to have a company that does just roofing, is professional, has employees who do the job, and is not spread thin over many projects they know very little about.

As an architectural professional in the building industry, I appreciate having a team of contractors who know how to get the job done right without "call backs." In the case of my own experience with SSR Roofing, our family decided to install solar panels on the garage rooftop. We called in SSR, who did the original roofing on our home ten years ago, to do the new work. FYI - If you are having solar panels installed, there are some controlled steps to doing the job correctly. SSR understood the existing and new proposed work, scheduled well in advance, and worked hand in hand with the solar installers to phase the work in order to guard against leaks and mistakes. Coordination was done between those parties without my constant oversight and supervision. Priscilla, Kathy, Dave and Steve saved me from losing sleep over this work with their attention to detail and care.

My wife and I had an Appointment for 8 AM with the owner on May 25, 2019, The appointment was set up the previous Thursday with Persilla, she assured me of how happy I would be and how great their company is etc. etc. I tried to call their office at 9am the morning of the appointment not hearing anything from them. Their office was closed...... after several attempts over the phone I received a callback from Persilla stating that they made a mistake in regards to the scheduling they could not arrive at my property for another hour being very frustrated I said that that was unacceptable. At that point she said that They will pass on the job they don’t need the work. Any company that’s not willing to take accountability for their mistakes and then pass on the work when they experience frustration is not worth doing business with.
