We have nothing but the highest praise for Robert Wilson, who recently did a complete remodel of the interior of our house. Rob’s team installed new doors and windows, redid the existing cabinetry in our kitchen, and installed new appliances. They also remodeled four bathrooms, built a custom kitchen island, and installed all new floors. Rob has a fantastic group of finish carpenters who did a beautiful job of installing new custom trim, window casings and baseboards throughout our house.Rob is incredibly knowledgeable about construction and had innovative and creative solutions for any problem that arose. He was on site at least once a week – many times more often -- to check on progress and be sure we were happy with how things were proceeding. All his suggestions were attuned to our budget, and he tried to find the most cost-effective way to get things done.Not only were Rob and his team skilled, but Rob has a great set of subcontractors with whom he works: electricians, plumbers, metal specialists, flooring installers, tilers and stone fabricators. Each of them was courteous and pleasant to work with. They all made useful suggestions and made sure that their end product was want we wanted. Most importantly they, like Rob and his team, took real pride in their work.In addition to serving as lead carpenter, Rob’s on-site foreman coordinated deliveries of materials, scheduled subcontractors’ work, and took care to be sure the workspace was clean and swept at the end of every day. He was great at communicating with us any time a question arose about details of the work.Rob has also been a member of the local community for many years and seems to know everyone. Hardly a question came up where Rob couldn’t refer us to someone to help out.Finally, Rob was incredibly positive and a pleasure to work with. We give Rob our highest and wholehearted recommendation.

R.A. Wilson Construction remodeled our home in 2021-2022. They did our kitchen and two bathrooms. Their work was of the highest quality, and Rob Wilson made every effort to make sure that we were pleased with every detail of the results. All of Rob’s workers on site were respectful of our home, kept the job site neat and orderly, and were very easy to work with. Often, they had great suggestions of how we could improve our remodel plans, and listened to our requests and implemented everything we desired. Rob’s communication is excellent and he is very responsive and attentive to your needs throughout the project, as well as being an all-around awesome human being. The billing was extremely transparent, well documented, and easy to follow. We can’t recommend R.A. Wilson Construction highly enough.

We had the immense fortune to get to work with Robert Wilson and his crew at R.A. Wilson Construction. We did a gut remodel of our house as well as a small addition. We happened upon Rob by what I can now say was the luckiest coincidence ever. We had planned to start our project, and got our permits right at the start of COVID, that created not only a pause in our plan but when we got to re-evaluate it 10 months later, the prices and the shortages had created an impossible situation. As we slowly felt like our plans and dreams were slipping away, Rob came in to rescue us. We knew the minute we met him that we wanted to work with him, his professionalism, his straightforward explanations and discussions, he was everything we needed and more. Rob was able to simultaneously calm our nerves and get us re-excited for our project. One of the most important pieces of advice I received when we started this project is do NOT just go after who gives you the lowest number, this is a long, and at times, challenging process. You want to work with someone you trust, someone who you enjoy being around, someone you can communicate and talk to. I didn't realize it at the time, but that is the best advice we received. This is not to say Rob was expensive, no, he is extremely fair and reasonable for the exceptional quality of workmanship. Rob, became not only our builder but our ally. We communicated on almost everything, it really felt like we did this together. He brought up so many incredible ideas to add value and sometimes even to save money. Our partnership throughout this process was the most important and best thing we could ask for. His crew, well there is none better! They are skilled, thoughtful, friendly and kind individuals who we felt were building our home as if it were their own. They were seriously, a pleasure to work with. When the project was over, while we were so excited to be moving into our dream home, we were truly sad our time was over with them. Our kids even said "I hope Santa knows where they live so he gives them extra special gifts this year". To this day though, Rob has been there for us, his team and his incredible sub-contractors have all been there for us whenever we had questions or something has come up. We are forever grateful to Rob and his team for putting the love and care into our home, for working with us through budget concerns and just overall fear at times. It truly was not only an amazing finish on our dream home, but also a very special relationship we gained out of it. Thank you, Rob and Team!

I had a fairly small job but Rob and his crew were great, they showed up on time, were very respectful of my property and their work was exceptional but best of all, Rob checked in every day sometimes twice a day. I think the best part of working with RAW Construction was the level of communication beginning with but not limited to Rob, I always felt I was being heard and my thoughts and opinions taken seriously. “Thank God for Robert Wilson” are words that are uttered nearly once a week in our household. Enlisting him for the addition on our home was by far the best decision we have ever made as homeowners.When we bought our house in Sonoma over 5 years ago, we had big plans. We aren't made of money so we knew it would be a project we'd phase out over the course of a few years, having a general idea what the overall cost of the project would be. Our first major renovation was completed just before COVID. What we didn't anticipate was the subsequent supply chain issues, inflation and massive migration out of the Bay Area into Sonoma.With our savings beefed up again, we decided it was time to start interviewing contractors for our addition. We quickly realized after 2 bids, we were in over our heads. The repercussions of the COVID world were making this project almost double what we anticipated. We called Rob as a Hail Mary before seriously considering putting our home on the market and throwing in the towel.We came to Rob with full transparency and disclosed our max, MAX budget. He studied the plans and was able to extract cost-saving ideas, help us determine our "must haves" vs our "wish list" and guided us toward solutions we hadn't considered. Through teamwork, creativity and getting scrappy, Rob was able to make what seemed like a dashed dream into a reality. He swooped in and saved the day.Our project was a relatively simple700 sq ft addition, but Rob gave us the same attention, dedication, and respect as if we were building a 5,000 sq ft custom home.He is responsive, a good communicator, organized, and compassionate. Rob and his team did an incredible job but beyond that his team (both the RA Wilson team and his subs) are respectful, honest and kind. Their readiness to start, as well as the evident respect they have for one other speaks volumes about the kind of boss and man Robert is.We looked forward to seeing his team every morning and had so much fun with them in the process. They were adorable with our children and always willing the lend a helping hand as I was pregnant during the entirety of construction. When I urgently needed help, Robert Wilson's presence at my new home was like being visited in real life by the idealized movie version of a contractor. Under time pressure and in a heartbeat, he came through for me on a range of issues, traveling far out of his way to inspect and protect, and even diagnosed, on the spot, a mystery issue that had confounded others. On initial walkthrough, he helped spontaneously generate creative ideas to resolve accessibility issues, offered affordable solutions and reality-based reassurance about things like concrete slab integrity, a tricky potential remodel, etc., and communicated everything clearly with the wisdom, warmth, empathy, and ethical value alignment like what you'd expect from a dear and trusted friend. Such authentic dedication to craft, calling, and customer is famously hard to find, and so it's not at all surprising that everyone I've talked to since who has also worked with him--including peers in his field--all hold him in the very same high regard. Robert Wilson deserves all the stars, and then some.
