I would not recommend them at all! They said they inspected my chimney and it was good to go and it was not at all. The flu had two cracks in it, the damper door was seized, this was not safe to use. If we would have used the fireplace would have been a major hazard and risk. We were told we would get a full refund and never saw a penny in return

Step Above came to my home to assess cracking on the crown of one chimney and to provide cap recommendations on another. They gave me dimensions for a new cap to order which they were to install when they returned to patch the cracked crown, and I was to call them when the cap arrived to schedule the repairs and install. They were here for less than 30 minutes but wanted a >$100 inspection fee which was deducted from the repair and installation estimate. When the cap arrived I tried calling and texting for weeks with no response. Will have to contact someone else. Unreliable, unresponsive.Edit: Highly recommend you scroll through the lowest reviews here to see how Step Above responds to customers. I didn't until after I left my review and really wish I had before I called them out.

This company is a massive joke. I'm not sure they are still in business and can understand why. They charged us one hundred dollars to assess fixing our gas fireplace. He said he would get the parts and give us a call to come back out and make the needed repairs. We never heard back from them and kept getting the run around over the phone. I still have a fireplace that doesn't work and can't get a refund.

I am so impressed with the honesty and integrity of this company. I actually thought I was calling A Step Above as they have cleaned my fireplace in the past, but I accidentally called a different company. Long story short, this "other company" told me my fireplace was unsafe and wanted to charge us over $10,000 in repairs. We were so shocked. So I called Dylan and he came out to give an estimate. After he inspected everything he said that there was absolutely nothing wrong and didn't quote a single thing, knowing we thought we had to spend a lot of money. In fact he didn't even charge us for his visit! I certainly will not make the mistake of calling another company again. Thank you again Dylan!

Contacted them on a Monday, stated they had time that Friday for a chimney cleaning, gave them code to the front door as house was unoccupied. The technician stated he first couldn’t find the address although I spelled out the address when I set the appointment, then he couldn’t get into the house and had already left by the time we spoke. I went and checked the code - it worked fine. I explained this was urgent as the house was closing on Tuesday. He said he would be back the next day at 10 am. I called, text and emailed numerous times on Saturday to confirm he was able to get inside that time and that the work was completed. No response. Called again twice Monday morning, and sent another text, zero response. If they didn’t have time or didn’t want to do the work I would have preferred they said that before scheduling so that I had more time to find another company.

I booked an appointment early in the season so I could get it done and out of the way. The team came in, laid cloth tarps down to catch the soot and not leave a mess. Inspected my fireplace, and took their time cleaning the flue to make sure it was ready for me to use. Overall, they did a good job, were very professional, and on time. Made an appointment to have chimney cleaned and a log starter replaced They showed up. Did the chimney cleaning and told me they back Next day to fix gas log starter. After a week of numerous phone calls and text messages, no response to anything totally ghosted.

He gave me a tutorial on how to get my gas fireplace going and provided a quote for future upgrades that can be done when I’m ready to covert to wood. I appreciated the straightforward work without the big upsell for things I don’t need or want.

Definitely will be calling these guys again for any and all of our chimney needs. We thought we needed ours cleaned. Turned out we didn't, all we needed was a pipe fixed and put back in correctly. Only charged us for that and was able to do it in a timely manner. They were awesome! Very family friendly, and kind people. Very informative and answered all our questions! Definitely worth getting our business from here on out ND would highly recommend them!!!

Our furnace went out a few days before a cold front was to come through. We had a fireplace but had never used it and we didn’t know whether or not it was safe to use. I called them and explained our situation. They were able to get us on the schedule a few days later. The cold front came though the night before our appointment. I was expecting a cancellation due to weather, but they did not cancel!! They came out on a dangerously cold morning with subzero temps and -30 windchills. Our fireplace was good to use and they spent an hour getting a fire going and showing us how to use the fireplace. And then they didn’t want to charge us! I can’t say enough good things. They are good, caring people. I highly recommend. I will definitely be calling them in the spring for a cleaning!!Service: Chimney inspections

If you need help with your chimney call these guys first!!!!Our chimney started leaking, and being first time home owners we had no idea where to start.We started calling around. We recently bought our house so needed to have the chimney cleaned and inspected. Elijah responded right away and inspected and cleaned our chimney. He was very courteous, explained the particulars about our fireplace (ie. blower box and finicky damper), and did the job in a very short period of time. First of all this was one of the best services we’ve had hands down. I googled chimney sweeps in the area and several came up. I didn’t ask around but went off of reviews. Highly recommend! Dylan is courteous, honest, and professional. Several years ago, I had a big Wichita chimney company come for a cleaning. They told me my chimney required almost $6000 in repairs and that I couldn't use it or my house would catch fire. Oh yeah...and they charged me for a cleaning that they didn't do.Fast forward to a few weeks ago. I had a realtor at my house as I am about to put it on the market. The realtor told me to call A Step Above and Dylan was at my house in the next few days. The crown needed to be replaced and Dylan told me that the chimney is FINE. Both my realtor and Dylan expressed that the big Wichita chimney company has a habit of finding THOUSANDS in questionable chimney repairs during cleaning services. I have to say that this company has the most genuine, caring people in the service industry that I have seen in a long time. My fiancé had found and scheduled this appointment. My fiancé' past away before the scheduled appointment and I had no idea who they were or what day or time they were scheduled. Yesterday, I found their card on my door, realizing that that was the day. I called their office and not only did they reschedule me in for later that afternoon, the owner waived any fees associated with my appointment due to my circumstances. I am not writing this review because they waived my fees because I offered to pay several times. You don't find compassionate, caring people very often and when you do they really stand out. The service technician and his helper were very polite and were in and out within 40 minuets. They cleaned up after themselves and you would never had known they just cleaned a chimney that hadn't been cleaned in 12 years. Excellent job and very respectful.I am a Realtor and have seen a lot of different contractors, and I would not hesitate to refer this company to my clients and co workers. This company is awesome! They are very responsive and easy to get ahold of. We needed a our wood stove inspected to renew our foster license. They were incredibly easy to work with and helped us through the process. My heart kind of sank when I realized we had to have our stove inspected to get licensed as I burn all winter long and sweep the chimney myself. My thought was "Great, here we go with more governmental overreach, making my financially friendly stove cost more money then burning electricity/gas etc.". This wasn't the case at all! Was scheduled to have chimney service on a Monday but it was rescheduled for the next day due to rain, which was fine. Tuesday rolls around and they are about 2 hours late, so I call and the girl seemed surprised they hadn't been out yet and said she would get ahold of them and call me back. Never heard back. Wasted my whole evening waiting. It's now Wednesday and I called their office 3 times throughout the day and never got an answer. Even tried calling again on Thursday and still no answer. They no show and they ghost customers. Could not have been a more frustrating experience.

I had them come out and clean my chimney along with telling me things that need to get fixed. Apparently what they wrote on my work order was wrong and when I inquired what needed to be done they blocked my number and wouldn’t return my call. Waste of money and would not recommend.Also- received the service November 17th and paid the 18th.. LOL so no it wasn’t a week. You should take payment the day of service like a normal business as I offered (realizing now you’re not a normally ran business). I’d be happy to pay the $350 or whatever is needed, but I will not be using your company as you’re incredibly unprofessional and cussed at me over the phone for no reason.

We needed our fireplace repaired. A Step Above tuck pointed our fireplace, cleaned the limestone facade and sealed it, resurfaced the mortar on the front, sealed it, and painted the firebox. They even painted the fire grate. They were prompt, professional, reasonably priced and cleaned up their mess. We also learned they do a variety of other home repair work, including painting. We were very pleased with their work and definitely recommend them. Thank you!
