If I could post a ZERO, I would. This man is a complete crook. He did not pay his subcontractors, even though I had paid him in total mos before. My project was held hostage because the subs would not finish until they were paid. I don't blame them, they should not work for free. Furthermore, he did not help me at all! He did not let me know which particular materials to by for the plumbing, etc. He did absolutely nothing, other than infuriate me and got paid to do it!

As others have mentioned, the project took twice as long as we were told to be completed. Progress really only happened when I constantly pushed for things to be done. If I wasn't always asking why things weren't happening, I don't think it ever would have been completed. When it was finally done, the work seemed to be good and at the end of the day we got what we wanted. However that is when the real issues began. After a couple months there were some issues, such as the chimney cap falling off and two limestone pieces cracking. After 2 months of the project manager telling us someone was going to come out to fix the issues, he suddenly started ignoring me. No responses to calls/texts/emails. I was forced to call Scott Appleman who's number is listed on the website, and was ensured this was not how they do business, and that he would get things done. After 2-3 months of the same thing (being told someone was coming to fix things and it never happening) some work was finally done. The chimney cap was re-attached and one of the limestone pieces was replaced. However, for some reason the second cracked limestone piece was not replaced. For over a month now I have been trying to get a response from Scott as to why the second piece was not replaced. Repeatedly I have called, left voicemails, and texted with no luck of getting a response. It would appear that the behavior of the project manager to ghost his customers not only is indeed how Appleman does business, but it actually comes from the top down. I still have a piece of limestone that cracked almost immediately after the project was completed, and it would appear it will never be fixed by Appleman. I'd steer clear if I were you.

It's been more than 15 months since they started what they estimated to be a 5 month project. They've done many things well, and many things dead wrong. Progress has slowed to a snail's pace with no explanation as to why. Most days (for the last three months) no work is done.I've been asking for weeks what their new estimated completion date is and have gotten no response. They have NEVER apologized for any of their errors, several of which are nearly impossible to correct.I'm hoping that they will soon understand the importance of communication and finally make properly finishing this project a priority.I hope to have positive things to say when I update this review.-------------------UPDATE: I wish I had something positive to say, but after reading the builder's response to my review I have only corrections to his misleading words. No, Appelman has not addressed the issues. They still (after nine weeks of asking) have not given me any clue as to what work (if any) is scheduled for the next two weeks. They have also still not given me their "new" estimated completion date for over five months. They are now in the 16th month of what they estimated to be a five month project. The third sentence of their response is an outright lie. During the past five months there have been less than 50 days that any work has been done on our project. We have a camera (that they have always known about) that takes a picture every eight minutes, every day. It is quite obvious when no one is there. They included the word "apologize" in their response to you, but have NEVER apologized to me for anything. They have a list of problems that they agreed to correct that we both signed back in March. Most of those items have still not been completed.Appelman has made no "offer of resolution" and continues to keep me in the dark as to what they might be doing or plan to do.The "scope of work" also known as "our Contract" has never changed without an agreed, signed change-order. There is no valid excuse for them being ELEVEN MONTHS past the original completion date.Services: Deck construction, Home building, Concrete driveway building

I don't know where to begin. They quoted me for a job to be done in 3-4 months. It took them over 9 months to complete. Their team is very rude, they are nearly impossible to get a hold of, and when you do get ahold of them, they almost always say they will call you right back. They have never called me back. Y'all steer clear of this business.

Love my new deck!!! The crew was very professional and did a wonderful job. Craig was very helpful and was there whenever we had questions. They made this a very smooth process. Would highly recommend them!
