My wife and I stayed here recently in April. For anyone staying in Portland, ME and planning to visit Peak’s Island, I would recommend just staying here ON the island. Room was really spacious and had a great view of the city line across the bay. It was also really convenient (and fascinating to my wife) to be able to watch the ferry landing from our room.We were a late arrival, but the staff made check-in super easy for us. No noise, clean room, and a convenient location. All good qualities in lodging!Peaks Island is only accessible by ferry, so if you’re staying here, you really need to stick to a schedule for your arrival or departure.Nearby activities: Be sure to check out the Battery Steele on the island. Bring some boots and a flashlight.

We stayed early April, still "off-season" in the Bailey suit.Quaint inn, our room was super clean. Electric fireplace added charm, modern furnishings. Single Jacuzzi tub in the bathroom was relaxing.Room includes a coffee maker, small TV, hairdryer, dorm style fridge and ironing board in the closet. The microwave is a community appliance located in the main hallway between rooms.Bed was firm, comfortable and extra linens and pillows in the closet.Pullout sofa in the living area but not used during our stay.Bathroom had extra towels right from the first day.We stayed off-season so help around the inn is limited, but the self check-in process was easy with all information required emailed to us before the stay.A very short walk from the Ferry so a car is not really required, depending how much you pack! The local market and other restaurants mere few minute walk from the Inn.Look forward to staying in the future!Nearby activities: You can rent a golf cart or bikes at nearby vendors to explore the island.Peaks island is classic New England rock beaches. Not a single strip of white sand, just the rugged rock landscape of eons of storms and tides.

We booked a room here last minute for an off-season weekend getaway. This was my first time going to Peaks Island and it was absolutely lovely. We had an excellent view of the city skyline at night and at sunset from the cliff island suite. The room was clean, and there was even a cozy fireplace in the suite's living room.Erin from the Peaks Island staff was very communicative about our stay, making both check-in and check-out a breeze despite minimal staffing during the off season.During these winter off-season months, there isn't much open on the island itself. I would recommend planning on getting food in Portland before catching the ferry and bringing something to much on. Also, if you can carry your own luggage onto the ferry, I would recommend parking your car at the ferry terminal and carrying luggage onto the island rather than loading it onto the car ferry. The inn is a couple hundred yards from the terminal.Rooms: The rooms were clean and cozy. Our suite included 1 bedroom and a living room with a pull out sofa and dining table. The bathroom contained a jacuzzi tub which was a nice feature. One of our favorite things of the room was the view of the city from the balcony and living room. Unless you're on a boat in the harbor, you won't likely see a prettier view of the Portland skyline at night.Walkability: The inn is walking distance from the ferry terminal and to several restaurants that are open in the summer. The ferry terminal itself is in Portland's Old Port which is very walkable.

My husband and I stayed for 5 days in the Great Diamond Suite over valentines day for our wedding anniversary. The room itself was very nice, big space, refrigerator included and a lovely view of the bay from the 2nd floor connecting porch though there were power lines in the way (not much you can do there though). Now, I have worked in hospitality as a housekeeper and front desk attendant in the past. I understand that not all inns offer room service, however there was no mention of us not receiving any, and so I suppose we expected it. When cleaning rooms, I had always taken into account how many days a guest will be staying, and would stock amenities such as shampoo and conditioner appropriately. We were only provided one set of soap, and shampoo/conditioner each. Minor detail but still bothersome.Upon checking in we were, at first, unable to find the code to enter the building. We were only able to figure out how to access our room by talking to the housekeeper. At that, we were unaware that our room was coded to the last 4 digits of our phone number. It was a bit of a process to call the inn's staff to sort some of this out. My primary dissatisfaction was that there was no attendant to greet us, or to answer our questions in person. The two women we called were not nearby, one of which was even at a ski mountain. I am not saying that employees do not deserve a vacation of their own, however if an inn is to operate on the weekends, somebody should be knowledgeable and available to attend the the needs of their guests. At one point we left for the whole day to visit Boston, hoping that, since a housekeeper was staffed, that we may at least get a vacuum, or refills of amenities used. Again, I understand that housekeeping isn't always guaranteed, but we were not told otherwise so we expected service. Well, it turns out that we received no service after all. Apparently the housekeeper does not lock the door leading into where the vacuum and linens are kept, and so I ended up peeking in, grabbing the vacuum and cleaning up my own space. At $145 per night I would have appreciated someone at least come to clean our floor. This is the off season, I get it, and overall our stay was very enjoyable. My review of the customer service portion of our stay, however, leaves much to be desired. I would certainly stay again, but I hope that the Inn's owners take some of what is said and choose to improve their service in these areas.Safety: Very safe feel tot he town and inn. No security concerns, and the people in town were very nice.

The best of the best. Lovely group of people even when the Island isn't peak hours. We got married at the Inn but cannot stay away from it. The best views of the harbor on a fall day. Easy going to get around and everyone there took care of our needs. We had our child with us and they helped accommodate what we needed. Highly recommend staying whenever you can,

What a great place! Inn location was right up the street from the ferry and we could walk to restaurants. Our room was really nice (comfy bed and couch), though I'd suggest adding a full-length mirror and a hand-towel rod for the bathroom. The thermostat also didn't appear to be working, though the gas fireplace kept things nice and warm. Restaurant staff were so friendly and the food was very good. We'd stay there again, though you might want to ask if there's a wedding scheduled during your stay. Our room was right above the reception room, so we got to enjoy the band until they were required to end things at 10:15 pm (so people could catch the last ferry). Overall, very enjoyable.

Great experience! Easy walk from the ferry dock, lovely inn, loved our room, which had a balcony and chairs looking out across the harbor. Westward facing, so we had beautiful sunsets. Comfortable bed and pillows. Good shower. Erin, our innkeeper, was friendly and helpful. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is that she could be hard to find. The restaurant was closed, as the off season hours are limited. All in all, an excellent inn and experience.

We had a great room. Probably the best in the hotel. It was huge, and had a great balcony to overlook the area. We enjoyed a glass of wine while on the balcony. The TV could be bigger since it was so far away from the bed, but having double sinks made it very nice. If staying on the island you need to plan ahead for the ferry. Be at least 30 minutes ahead of departure, coming and going. An hour to be safe. It appeared the ferry was completely full of vehicles each time I saw it come and goRooms: Very large and clean.

We were married at the Inn four days ago and it was the BEST experience. For our stay, our family and wedding party rented out the entire Inn and we had the place to ourselves, making it feel like we were all sharing one big house. The staff were incredibly accommodating and thoughtful, all pleasant and very present in our experience. The rooms are gorgeous, the decks on the front of the building allowed us to take in the downtown, the water, and to enjoy a piece of the island from our balconies. Our guests were so amazed at the facility and the grounds, it really made for a unique experience for everyone. We enjoyed food and bar service from the restaurant the night before our wedding and everyone enjoyed their meals. We cannot say enough about the whole experience and we will be back for sure!

This place is a gem, just a 15 minute (beautiful) ferry ride from downtown Portland. It's a great place for a quick drink, or a full meal on an island just a stone's throw from the Old Port in Portland. The atmosphere fits the location perfectly. The service was incredibly friendly, and the food was fantastic. This place should be a part of any vacation plans if you are in from out of town, or as a great alternative to fighting the crowds in Portland's Old Port area.

My one-night stay here was wonderful. The suite was huge with a balcony facing the bay. Great location close to all. Arrived on a rainy morning and since the room was ready, I was able to check in early, dry out, and rest up before exploring the island in the sunny afternoon. Treated so well, I felt like family.Rooms: Spacious and clean with an excellent view.Nearby activities: Ferry landing, restaurants, tours, bike rental, beach, museums, and art galleries are all walkable from here.Safety: Slept with my door open with the Bay breezes lulling me to sleepWalkability: Close to allFood & drinks: Right downstairs

Peaks Island is a great spot for a walk, a quiet dinner, and there’s great views from most of the venues. We’ve been staying at the Inn for almost 10 years for a night or two once a year. The Inn is a comfortable place and the staff has always been very friendly and accommodating and in the times we’ve stayed there it’s never been anything but a great experience.

This was our second visit to the Inn on Peaks Island and we had a wonderful time. The staff goes over and above to make you feel welcomed and accommodate your requests. We brought our own bikes and the staff ensured we had a place to lock them up and keep them dry when it rained. The location can't be beat - walking distance to the ferry and dining. The room was spacious and very clean - lots of comfy, soft towels, a deck to watch the sunset, coffee maker. The one thing that caused me to give 4 stars is the carpet is getting old and worn out and I would suggest adding a small table on the deck for wine glasses when watching the sunset and goings on in town. We will be back!

Friendly staff, good food, clean rooms, near the ferry and other restaurants. However, you don't need to leave the inn because it has a good restaurant with a great view of the harbor! A romantic, quiet stay as a couple! I would do this again. Perfect weather in late May at about 70- 75 degrees in the afternoon and a fresh 40 -55 at night.Rooms: Remodeled rooms with a nautical theme. Clean.Safety: Quiet and a safe.Walkability: Walk or bike or drive your car to any where on the island.Food & drinks: Good food at several locations.

To celebrate a big anniversary we chose to visit Peaks Island and stay at the Inn. It was a wonderful experience, a nicely modern and clean room, great service, with excellent food in the restaurant, & the PERFECT location. The breakfast vouchers at the Unruly Girls Cafe was an excellent surprise & we enjoyed visiting there each morning. We were thrilled with our stay and are already talking about our return visit.Rooms: The inn suite we stayed in was lovely, modern finishes, very clean and quiet.Nearby activities: The inn is located in the perfect location, just off the walk from the ferry. It has a beautiful view, and is close to all the island shops, restaurants, and activities.Safety: We felt very safe, people were friendly and helpful. This island is unique and has many visitors during the day but we were safe and our room was safe. Locking up when we left and at night provided plenty of security.Walkability: We didn’t bring a car on the ferry to Peaks Island and we didn’t miss it. Everything is walkable but especially the location of the inn.

We stayed at the Inn over the 4th of July weekend while visiting my parents who live on the island. We arrived on the 8:15 Ferry, and were greeted by one of the loveliest servers who also took great care of my family and our extended family for lunch the next day. We have been going to the island for years, and generally have a nice meal at the Inn, but this was next level. The rooms were recently renovated, beds very comfortable. Our 13 year old did great on the pull out couch, with a comfortable foam mattress. We will definitely be back when we are in town.

We were very disappointed in our stay last weekend. We splurged on a night out n tge Island for $430.00 for less than 24hours which we were happily pay but our room had I believe a 13 inch tv on the wall that was so far from the bed we couldn’t even see! Then the room said jacuzzi tub- well it’s not exactly a jacuzzi tub in my mind but the fact of the matter it didn’t even work was the real bust! The pub was closed with no explanation and our drink in the bar was $19.00/each.We were really disappointed in the inn, its appearance, but especially the no food was available. This mini getaway was more stress than it was worth.

Everything about the Inn on Peaks is perfection! We got married there last weekend and stayed for two nights after. The staff is so friendly and accommodating you would think you've been your friends for years. They think of every detail! The inn itself is so cute and feels like a true home (w/ very large rooms and high ceilings). We loved every minute of it and can't wait to come back.

The overall stay and experience here was outstanding!! We are native Portlanders , however, had only been to Peaks a few times in our 70 years. Brought our car and bikes over on ferry and parked at inn and took off biking: so enjoyable! Received a call from inn at 1:30 saying our room was ready early if we’d like to check in( this was quite a welcome nicety that doesn’t occur often) reception was fabulous as was room and amenities! Dinner was quite good and server Violet was a sweetheart whom we much enjoyed chatting with…breakfast vouchers to Unruly Girls cafe was unexpected plus! This entire experience was charming and fun. Thank you Inn at Peaks for our wonderful overnight! These 2 old native Mainers were impressed.

We were guests at a wedding on 7/22/2023 and decided to stay 2 nights at the inn to celebrate with the wedding party. We live in Portland and this 2-day "get-away" felt like a week's vacation. Jason (wedding planner) and all the inn staff were fantastic. The check-in process is so easy and smooth....feels like a family at the inn.We will be back!Rooms: We were in The Cliff Island Room with a balconey overlooking main street....highly recommend!Walkability: We walked the back side of the island the morning of the wedding......very "walkable" and beautiful viewsFood & drinks: The wedding food was absolutely spot on. The Korean Chicken wings at the restaurant were delicious!
