Hi my name is Vincent Smith, It’s hard to put into words how I feel about Chris and his team or professionals. It’s very seldom you work with a company / team that rebuilds your home, like they are rebuilding their own home. I will always say “They rebuilt my father’s (Edward Smith) home with their hearts, which means they worked on his home, as if it was theirs”. Working with Chris and his team has been a great experience, from design to completion of construction. They were very easy to work with when it came to changes / change orders. When family and friends enter the newly rebuilt house, they have nothing but good things to say about the way the house looks and the quality of work. The House is BEAUTIFUL. You can’t wipe the smile off the family’s faces, when it comes to the look and feel of my father’s new “forever” home. Chris and his team of professionals are considered FAMILY in our eyes. Chris and his team were very professional and worked with us to completely renovate an older farmhouse originally built in the 1940’s. Through the many challenges we faced, Chris was transparent and reasonable thru it all. All of his subs were very professional and easy to work with as well.

We have used The North Star Companies for several jobs in the past, with the most recent being the largest. We hired them do a complete renovation of our home in Severn. The job grew larger as demo began and turned into a job requiring the rebuild of exterior walls, demo of concrete slabs - basically the house had to be rebuilt from the ground up. All new plumbing, electric, framing, windows, siding, roof, etc. I have known Chris for 20+ years and was confident that our forever home would be solid and done right. We had a few hiccups throughout the process - as this was done during Covid, so there were supply issues, delays and so forth, but Chris and his guys did an amazing job. We couldn't be happier and are continuously getting compliments on our beautiful home. Chris has been and will continue to be our go-to for any construction needs for us and our family and friends.

On the recommendation of a friend, I contracted North Star Companies for a bathroom and the kitchen/dining area remodel on a 120 year old home. The work included removing an interior wall, gutting the rooms, updating ancient plumbing and electrical fixtures and reinforcing the home with concrete footers. Chris was always available for questions and reviewing work. His crew was very professional, possessed a strong work ethic and left work areas clean every day. When a subcontractor had to make some minor adjustments, Chris kept me updated until the new materials arrived. The result is a gorgeous, transformed home. I rate the quality of the work highly and recommend Chris Marshall and North Star Companies without hesitation.

We are ecstatic about how our basement renovation turned out! When my husband and I met Chris in March 2021, he was very professional and knowledgeable about what it would for our project. The cost estimate he provided was reasonable and we were able to stay in budget. His team was polite and had good work ethic. Chris was very engaged in the entire project and kept us aware of progress and delays. In addition to the project, they included a few other items that really helped us (I.e., electrical socket in the front of house, cable wiring in the living room for better signaling throughout the house)They did great work and we will be using their services for future projects! We would highly recommend The North Star Companies!

Chris navigated us through our first home remodeling consisting of a two (2) story addition plus a walk-in closet. He has used the same building crews for many years, and all worked well COVID restrictions. Chris managed all materials and construction during COVID period with no delays. He has an extensive record for returning to customers and providing services and answers to questions concerning their finished construction. We have already provided his contact information to several neighbors based off his completed work and competitive prices.

The North Star Company was contracted to remodel our basement and I really could not think of a better company to work with. They provided me with options and solutions that other contractors I interviewed did not know. Chris from North Star is really experienced in dealing with all aspects of construction and remodeling. The gas meter, power panel and boiler were moved to create space. Extensive plumbing work was also done. The quotes are also very reasonable and all work is detailed. The team is very experienced and this shows in their work. Chris came into my life after a horrible experience with another contractor, and he restored my faith in humanity. Not only did he finish what the previous contractors left undone, but he also fixed their work! And on top of it, remodeled basically my entire main floor including kitchen, family room, den, and bathroom. Awesome guy. Awesome company. In 2017 my townhouse was remolded by Northstar Company. I signed the contract, left my house keys with Chris Marshall and left to snowbird for the winter in Florida. Every day when I’m back in the house, I marvel on the professional job done. Three years later, I’m still getting positive feedback on the remodel.Recently, we noticed the bathroom wall had black mold. I called Chris and he immediately responded to troubleshoot. On a rainy night, he stood on my handrail to look for the leak. We found the problem was caused by water leaking from my neighbor’s roof after cutting a hole in the upstairs ceiling. After his crew, fixed the neighbor’s roof problem and the termite contractor did his work, the ceiling was patched and painted along with the bathroom wall. It looks brand new. I’m writing this review to relay that this is a contractor that you can trust even after the contract is completed.

I found Chris on yelp while looking for home maintenance services. When I read the review posted by "Eddie S", I instantly thought, "I need Chris in my life." While I didn't have an immediate need, when I ran into a hiccup of needing my baseboards removed to have a pantry installed in my laundry room, Chris came to mind. I called him and he was patient, kind, informative and willing to help me with very small job. He arranged to come by that Saturday. Well that Thursday, I had no hot water. I called Chris for a plumber recommendation, because another plumber I called, without even coming out, said I needed a new water heater and it would cost $1,500. Chris swung by that morning on his way to another job and looked at my HWH. It turns out that the water heater was off and on a timer. That's why I didn't have any hot water....so with $1500 still in my pocket, Chris removed the timer clip and cut my water heater on, I tested the water and boom, it got hot :-) He also, took care of my baseboards while he was there. And to top it off, he called me later that evening just to make sure that everything with the water was still ok. I couldn't believe it!Needless to say, Chris is everything you want and need in a home owner/maintenance consultant. Honest, patient, caring, and willing to help. I am a new home owner and in the 4 short months since I purchased my home, I have come across some not so honest, not so patient, not so caring, and not so willing to help contractors and consultants. Especially those who work on larger scales, like Chris does. He didn't discriminate against me because my jobs were uber tiny. It's not to say that he will always have the time for me, but he cared enough to try to work me in around his bigger projects and help me. If you own a home, YOU...NEED...CHRIS....plain and simple....case closed.
