We recently purchased a Longfellow new-construction house and have completed several post-closing projects with the company as well. Our experience to date has been outstanding. The house is well-engineered and built with quality materials. Longfellow takes great care in the details. The post-closing service has been exceptional. Mario, our project-manager, is an excellent communicator who clearly understands the business, provides top-notch customer service and works hard to make things right. His team, including finish-carpenters, painters, electricians, and plumbers, is professional, respectful, friendly, and accommodating. They treat our property like it is their own. We highly recommend Longfellow Design Build.

Longfellow did an amazing job on both my external and internal renovation. Tom P., project manager, was with me every step of the way and extremely responsive and helpful. It was great having one company take care of siding, trim, gutters, windows and decks. They repaired all the unknowns and brought everything up to current code! The crews were always, respectful, on time & cleaned up everyday. Inside, their kitchen designer, Mark Barr, helped me to plan a beautiful kitchen and open concept entryway! I cannot say enough good things! Being new to the Cape, I went out for several quotes but chose Longfellow and couldn't be more pleased. The main bedroom did not have a bath, and we wanted to add an on-suite with a closet that kept the home's character. I was particular about this project after building and remodeling my last several homes. My project manager, Ari, was the best I have ever worked with! He and his team were always on time, did quality work, and were very personable. We did a full remodel and rebuild with Longfellow. We made full use of their design team and were able to work collaboratively through every aspect of the project. An added challenge was that we were away from the home for a good part of the project but we established a good relationship with our project leader, Rafael Santos, and our strong communications helped us resolve issues as they arose. We love our home. We’ve stayed in touch with Raf and he has made sure we are happy with every aspect of the rebuild. Thank you Longfellow!

Over the past few years Longfellow has completed major renovations on two homes in our “family compound “. They have an amazing team that listened to what we needed, designed and built on time and on budget. Rafael was our project manager for both houses. He is attentive to detail, responsive in every way and kept things moving along without sacrificing quality control. About a month after the first project was completed there was a tub drain issue. Even though it was a manufacturers issue Rafael showed up the next day to fix the problem. Best team ever!

We added sunroom to cape house. Overall satisfied with room, but not the exceptional experience we expected. Project manager was excellent, subcontractors were a mix. For example, flooring had splinters after being installed. After bringing to their attention they ripped up section and re-installed. If we didn’t speak up we would have paid for repair.The end of the project was most disappointing. The end dragged on and after paying above proposal for project we waited months to get our remaining deposit back. If we hadn’t kept pushing to get deposit back I don’t think we would have received. There seem to be cash flow issues and it is resulting in frustration with subcontractors and less quality work. Glad we are finished.

If you’re looking for an outfit that can do any job, from building entire houses start to finish, to simply building you a deck or replacing stairs, Longfellow Design Build is an excellent choice.They have pros in all of the building trades: foundations, HVAC, framing, electrical, plumbing, interior design, specialty kitchens and bathrooms...it an all-inclusive experience and they handle everything.Their name says it all. Design Build. That’s what we wanted and that’s what they delivered, every step of the way, including permitting with the town, architectural drawings, elevations and blueprints, engineering schematics and plans, and of course all elements of construction both outside and inside.We contracted Longfellow to design and build an entire 2nd floor for our cottage in the Swifts Beach area of Wareham. They worked closely with us and provided several options for materials, fixtures and appliances, flooring, lighting, etc. They invited us to consult with them at every stage, and they willingly changed some of the plans during construction when we asked for some additional windows and partition walls. No problem.We were so pleased with the end-result of our new upstairs that we had them renovate our downstairs, too. We had them re-shingle our entire home, add new hardwood floors throughout the downstairs, insulate, drywall, and plaster all of our 1st floor walls, replace some windows, and replace all of our downstairs electrical outlets.These folks are fast, too. Honestly...in two days’ time they demolished our roof, framed and decked the new 2nd floor, erected all of the outer walls, framed the new roof which included a massive, sturdy LVL beam for the ridge board, and then sheathed and wrapped it all in Tyvek. We were dumbfounded.Their electricians are first rate, and fast. It’s the same with every other aspect of their construction, including keeping the yard clean and being courteous to our neighbors.They have several skilled crews and multiple trade masters on their team, with showrooms in Falmouth, Osterville, Sandwich, and Harwich Port. They also construct and remodel homes in the local towns off-Cape, which was the case with us.In short, Longfellow Design Build took our three-season cottage and transformed it into beautiful, comfortable, weather-tight, luxurious, year-round home, AND THE PRICE WAS RIGHT! We had high hopes in hiring Longfellow to make a variety of improvements to our home. Unfortunately our experience was very disappointing ...a combination of carelessness, incompetence and dishonesty. Here are some highlights. 1. The work took forever, much longer than originally estimated. 2. The workers damaged our home in the process because they were careless. 3. Several basic aspects of the work were left unfinished/just did not work. 4. During the process something valuable and important to us was stolen from our home, first time we've ever experienced that. Don't know if it was their workers or if they left the place unlocked. 5. When they came back to fix the issues they actually tried to charge us an outrageous amount for the rework, to fix things that were never right in the first place. They ultimately credited us for this. 6. The time people spent working was inflated...we tracked their hours and then looked at the bill and it was sometimes twice as long 7. They pester you for payment even before the work is finished. I wish I had something better to say but this was the worst experience with a contractor we've ever had. They talk a good game up front but the actual delivery and dealing are unacceptable.

I've never left a review on any site but this company has to be the most unprofessional company I've ever dealt with.Ive been a subcontractor of theirs for only a year and all of their clients complain to me about them (lack of communication, things taking months and months longer than promised etc)All of their subs say they take at least 2 months to get paid for their work.They owe me a small $700Invoice for the last 3 months and can't even get a return phone call about it.

Poor communication, and lack of respect for us and our property. Workmanship poor. Mostly done by laborers with no supervision and no oversight. Overall, the house is much improved, but much to be desired in the details. They destroyed our front yard, and rarely cleaned up nails.

Mark (owner) and our project manager (Kevin) were outstanding to work with on our North Falmouth home. We decided last fall to re-design the exterior style of our home and received quotes from three different companies. Our goal was to completely change the exterior style from a contemporary saltbox to a more traditional Cape Cod style. Ideally I wanted shingles and windows that opened up/down vs the contemporary crank-out windows our home had.The other two companies we met with basically said that they could shingle the exterior and do all new windows but that the windows would still be the crank-out/more narrow style. They told me the window options were limited with my budget so we had to work within the existing window socket dimensions. Their quotes also came in $10-20k higher than my budget.When I met with Mark, not only did I immediately get a sense that he did high quality work, but I felt I could trust him and valued his input on the project more than anyone else we met with. He took the time to really speak with me about my vision for the home, my budget, and then we came up with a plan to do the project the RIGHT way. We ultimately hired the Longfellow company to re-do our home, and they worked to add shingles on the front and side of the house, but we left the back with the old siding. They also added new up/down closure windows that were slightly wider than my old windows with a pane at the top (for a more traditional look). We discussed the key windows to change on the front/side/back of the house, focusing on ones that were at the end of their lifespan and also those that affected the style of the house - this ended up being all windows on the front, select windows on the side, and one in the back. And I loved Mark's idea on only doing the front and side shingles for now. If we have the budget in a year or two, we can consider adding shingles to the back of our home, but to Mark's point, you really don't even notice the back siding on the house. This plan allowed us to stay within budget but we still were able to transform the exterior to truly be a traditional Cape Cod salt box style.The team got the job done (the key tasks at least) before the Thanksgiving holiday as planned. There were a few follow ups that I worked with them on in the upcoming months, including a new garage door, light fixtures etc. All and all, the exterior looks EVEN BETTER than I had envisioned. Without Mark's guidance on how to best spend the money to get the result I want, it wouldn't have been possible.Great company and people- I would HIGHLY recommend them!

Mark and his team did a major remodel of our home which included bumping out one side of the house 5', adding a new 4 season room, completely gutting and remodeling the bathroom and bedroom, adding a farmers porch to the front of the house and adding a new deck.They also installed Bamboo flooring throughout the house replaced the windows, added a new roof re-shingled the entire house as well as replace interior trim and painted from top to bottom.All this while we were in Florida for the winter.Mark kept us in the loop with his weekly updates and endless stream of updated pictures. He was never more than a phone call away if we were having any concerns or issues.He and his design team were very helpful with the selection of materials, fixtures, colors and all that was necessary to dot all the I's and cross the T's even including some wonderful unexpected additions that we hadn't discussed.The quality of his teams workmanship and the pride they took in the work they did was evident from the pictures we were receiving. We were not fully aware of how incredible a job they had done until we had returned home to see for ourselves (totally blown away).This has been reinforced time and again as we have had friends and people looking for examples of Longfellows work tell us after seeing the before pictures and the finished project how seamless the transformation was can't tell where the old ends and the new begins.Another very impressive item is that the project was on schedule and budget.Mark and his gifted team were an absolute joy to work with.We highly recommend them for all your building and or remodel projects

We finished our kitchen renovation in September that started in February. My concerns from the beginning was about the finish carpentry. And by the end that’s what the biggest problem is. There is more caulking cracking all over the crown molding and anywhere their cuts were off. The cabinets are all cracking on seams and the handles come loose and sag, that I have to level and tighten them once a month because the screw holes were cut too big. I will say that they tried to make it better but overall it wasn’t a good experience at all.

Most of my experience with having a house built or renovating a property has not been great. Time delays, cost overruns disappointment in the communication and final result. what is an exciting experience turns into a stressful situation. We recently hired Longfellow to do a major renovation at our property in Falmouth. We winter in Arizona and because of Covid we were not able to view the property in person during the renovation. despite that we had a wonderful experience. the communication was great from long distance, no cost overrun's and when we arrived back in Falmouth and were able to see the finished product we could not have been happier.

I loved working with Barry and Mark. They remodeled my kitchen several years ago and it came out amazingly. It still looks as great as it did the first time we used it. By far the best parts are the detailed tile work that they did for my back splash and the finish work. Geovany is so great at what he does and great at explaining the whole process. Next time i have a job to do they will be the ones to do it.
