Recently, in the fall of 2022, Marc Unnasch constructed a deck for us. During the initial phase, a water drainage issue surfaced. In about a day or two, it became apparent that the original execution strategy could not be followed for a quality job. Marc confidently handled the situation by consulting and engaging relevant experts, always keeping us in the loop. After a few days of a detour, Marc constructed the deck to everybody’s satisfaction. During the construction process, I was impressed by Marc’s thoroughness and passion for completing the work with quality without losing focus on cost and economics. Marc also patiently and promptly answered all our questions and concerns regarding the construction, material, etc., either verbally or using text messages. The Olmsted County inspector praised the work of Marc in all three inspections. Some of our neighbors were impressed by Marc’s work, and a couple of neighbors intend to work with him in repairing their existing decks in 2023.In 2022, Marc also worked on modernizing our Patio, which was also done very well. Marc helped us completely transform a room in our house to become a nursery. He coordinated building new interior walls, drywall for the walls and ceiling, new light fixtures, new baseboard heaters, carpet, and trim work. Everything was completed in a timely manner and all of the subcontractors were also professional and kept everything clean. Because we had hired Marc in the past to replace our skylights and were so pleased with his work, we hired him this summer to build a new deck for us. To begin the process, he met with us and helped answer questions about choosing building materials. He completely removed our old deck and hauled everything away. During the building of the new deck he communicated with us about what he was working on and what we could expect as he went along. Marc was always good about answering any of our questions that we had. When the deck was finished, he cleaned up the entire area. We now have a beautiful deck that we are very proud of. I had two interactions with Marc. First, I had a very high gutter that was clogged. He came out the same day I called him to clean it out.Second, I had a bulge in the siding and had Marc come out to repair it. He suspected, correctly, that the sheathing had bulged as the house settled. Marc's guys were able to remove the old siding, repair the sheathing, and replace the siding without any evidence that they had even been there. Mark took on a deck replacement project for me last year. Two words come to mind as I reflect back on that project: quality and adaptability. After hearing what my needs were, he sized things up and created 3 different plans from which I chose one. There were a couple of unforeseen challenges and he adapted his design and approach accordingly. His attention to detail and drive for perfection ensured that the finished product (all new deck) was of the utmost quality.

Mark did an incredible job of helping us make our new home office versatile and beautiful! Our 1914 home needed a lot of work. Mark helped us rip out a wall, frame out a new closet, redo sheetrock, paint, and coordinate refinishing of our hardwood. When we went to refine the electrical work, we found actually that the roof was leaking, he was able to spring into action, manage the update to the plan, need for insulation, need for a new roof, and all the other components in between. I think the project came together beautifully and we're really happy with the space.The only thing that was in large part out of his control that affected the job was the pandemic which understandably messed up the timeline and sub-c availability. Unnasch Construction built a deck and did so much more for us.This included Clearing bushes next to house that were in the way.Selection and Installation of a door inside to open to the deck outside (which included cutting a hole thru wall to inside. carpentry to frame, electrical relocation inside, sheetrock carpentry, electrical exterior outlet).Install maintenance-free deck boards and steps, metal railings.Mark was onsite DAILY working on project and overseeing project with his subcontractors. Mark is a perfectionist. EVERYTHING was measured and installed exactly to code. Boards were even, aligned nailing, including on steps. WE ARE VERY PLEASED WITH THE CONSTRUCTION!Additionally on our project, Mark coordinated tearing off old siding, installing insulation, and installing new metal siding on all three garage fronts.We would use Unnasch Construction again and highly recommend them to everyone.
