We count ourselves fortunate to have gotten a referral for John from a friend. The crew removed and replaced our vinyl siding with fiber cement siding, as well as installed our deck railing. The guys were prompt everyday and very communicative throughout the process. Our home has been transformed by the work and we would not hesitate to hire John again. If you are looking for quality work from a responsive owner we can't recommend Happy Hippo enough. 5 stars doesn't cover how pleased we are with how everything turned out.

John did an outstanding job on our bathroom remodel; removing an old and non-functional jetted tub and replacing it with a much-needed HUGE linen closet. John executed my ideas even better than I had envisioned them. He is an excellent contractor, taking time to listen and yet experienced enough to recommend how best to approach a job. He is hard-working and an honest man of integrity. You'll never regret hiring him! We already have another project lined up for him to do and are very excited to see his handiwork again.

We have had John do several jobs on our various homes. There was a 10 foot wide living room window in one of them that had to be replaced due to a poor installation by a different contractor. John recommended windows that were easier for me to open with my arthritis. The windows opened with minimal effort and the interior finish was perfect, no gaps and the wood had beautiful tones. He did a flawless job! John also redid all of the inside trim of all our windows with a beautiful wood trim that made the house look so much nicer and pulled the wood finishes together. All the edges and corners fit precisely!We would recommend John and his crew to anyone. They always do a high quality job!

John and his crew did an amazing job. They were willing to do extra things on the fly as they came up and they did with a smile. My big fear with remodelling is having a crew come in, do work and then disappear while you wait and wait. That was NOT John at all. He finished up, he cleaned up as he went and we never, ever felt put out. He and his crew were so friendly, we enjoyed having them. John signed the contract with us right before COVID and he continued to work on our house. It was so awesome and we got a bunch done. Can't say enough good things!

John added two wings, approximately 800 sq. ft,, to our existing home. It was a very high end, detail intensive project. Not only is John a very skilled builder in all phases of construction, he has a unique ability to problem solve bringing his workmanship to a level of solid construction and beauty seldom achieved. When I handed him four 150 year old hand carved Chinese doors and told him I needed two of them set up to slide and two of them set to swing, his answer was the same as for every other part of the project “yes I can do that.” John also solved problems that had me concerned, like how to eliminate a beam hanging down in the middle of the dining room or getting a 450 pound bathtub from storage into the new wing. He was very considerate in keeping our living space as clean and comfortable for us as possible. Hire John, you couldn’t do better.

John and his crew at Happy Hippo recently replaced all the old windows in our house with new Pella windows. They were great to work with and did a great job at cleaning up when they were done. Our new windows look great and are so much more insulating than the old 1950's windows that were replaced. Our basement windows were particularly difficult to work on because the original frames were part of the concrete basement walls. It wook some extra trouble on their part to deal with them but they got it all done!! Wouldn't hesitate to recommend them! Thanks John and crew!

In 2014, John, the owner at Happy Hippo Siding and Windows, transformed our basement into an amazing apartment which included a bedroom with closet shelving, a huge utility closet, a roomy bathroom with utility sink, specialty lighting, mirror, large under sink cabinet and an inviting shower/bathtub. The kitchen area was designed with spacious counters & under cabinet lighting. The kitchen cabinet configuration provides an immense amount of storage as does the added pantry that utilized our space maximally while allowing space for a refrigerator and dinning area. The entire space is beautifully enhanced by the expert wood working he designed and placed around windows, ceils, doors and moldings, the perfectly placed lightening, the flooring in the bathroom and dinning area and the padded carpet. Working with John to accomplish this project was such a pleasure as he took the time to consult with us before and throughout the project regarding all of the decisions we had to make in order to have a custom outcome within our planned budget. John researched and provided resources which aided us in the making big and little decisions. We have obtained John"s refined and expert craftsmanship skills for additional jobs and referred others to John with confidence that he will provide the same expert service and craftsmanship with the same integrity he is known for.
