Was told my kitchen demo project would complete “approx within 15 days” according to “contract”. Project took 2.5 months instead. We noticed they put a small cabinet that normally goes above refrigerator above our microwave instead. Therefore our microwave was really high up that I had to actually use a stool to even touch it. I am 5’3”. We told them and the contractor said “I think it’s fine” ... that’s because he is 6’1”. It wasn’t the right cabinet, we asked him to replace it with correct cabinet and he did. But he also said “I did you a favor by replacing that for you”. Left a leak under my sink, his response “we don’t do plumbing we did you a favor by installing the kitchen faucet.“ he measured the counter space wrong therefore our fridge does not go all the way back to the wall it sticks out. He told us to get “counterdept” Refrigerator So this way the fridge would Aline the counter and not stick out, well guess what. It sticks out further then counter so counterdept fridge was useless. They bottom of cabinet on the floor didn’t meet the floor and has gap. I explained my concern or crumbs getting under cabinet and if a liquid Spill how would I clean under it?. He said “we don’t make the cabinets we just install them”. I only asked for a boarder and trim and they gave me a problem. The edges of my Island had actual WOOD on the floor corners from island that was cut from saw machine, it was sharp and dangerous. I asked them to cover it because someone could get hurt, that was an issue “oh if we trim it we can damage whole thing”. When they moved my old refrigerator out they scratched my new wood floors. I asked to have it fix and he said “we did u a favor by moving it” when they brought materials in an out of My house they broke the frame to my storm door and contractor said “that was like that already”. Trust me it wasn’t it was totally disconnected from my house and we just had that trim painted. Eventually they replaced it. My floors, almost 2 months later he had a guy come to fix it. He buffed and re-stained it. We had no “major” issues during project till the end when the final payment was due and I just simply Said “I don’t feel comfortable with final payment due to my floors being scratched up, the leak under sink, and cabinet door was chipped, when that’s all fixed I have no problem paying” on a Friday he agreed to fix it all the following Monday. Sunday night I text him what time Monday, he doesn’t answer. Monday comes he answers “I’m not coming till I get fully paid” , as replied, “when down is fixed we have no problem paying, we paid in full every time on time according to the expired contract”. He then sends us a THREATENING letter, “if you don’t pay, I will put a LIEN on your house”. After all this time we paid this man, we were good to him and workers and we tried to settle things nicely and professionally, he just ends it and threatens us with a lien on the house. We paid him 2 days later, he said “I’ll have guy fix everything once I’m paid” he got paid Monday, and didn’t make calls to get someone to fix everything till FRIDAY. Delayed MORE time. I also PAID $200 out of my own pocket for my kitchen floors and he said he was giving me my money back to reimburse me and take it out of my “FINAL payment”, HE LIED AND DIDNT. I think he ripped us off. His workers were nice guys, if I asked them something they did the best to answer or help me. The contractor John seemed like a nice guy in the beginning and I’m truly disappointed in how he handed things. When money involved you see people’s true colors. That’s the most of it.
