Lance Rupert did an excellent job fixing a serious insulation problem I had in the crawl space beneath my home in Lake Placid. The prior fiberglass insulation that had been there for years had gotten wet and heavily contaminated by animals that apparently had been living under there. Lance and his crew removed the old insulation (very difficult area to access) and spray coated the area with new closed cell foam. I am thrilled with the results! They did exactly what they said they were going to do at a reasonable price. Thanks a lot!!

Unfortunately, we are compelled to write this review due to Placid Foam Insulation's business owner Greg Rupert's utter lack of care, competency, and refusal of accountability. Placid Foam Insulation was hired to blow 10-inches of insulation into our attic, and we discovered much later on that during their employment, they buried all the attic Soffit vents. These are critical vents that permit the attic to breathe, and now they were suffocated beneath 10-inches of fiberglass insulation. As a direct result, no outside air was allowed through the soffit vents into the attic, and subsequent mold appeared on the attic sheathing. We had an NY State Licensed Mold Assessor and three (3) NY State Licensed Mold Remediation Experts inspect and assess the damage. Additionally, we had a well-regarded local Roofer, and an experienced contractor examine the home. All concluded that the environmental damage was due to the suffocated soffit vents. The Placid Foam Insulation business owner, Greg Rupert initially inspected the attic and insisted on remediating the mold himself which is illegal for him to do so in the State of New York. Over the course of 8 weeks after the environmental damage was discovered, despite three professional Mold Remediation estimates, Greg Rupert continuously demanded that he be able to remediate the contamination with full knowledge that it was illegal for him to do so and we refused his demands. Ruperts unwillingness to take responsibility was accompanied by his constant obstructions first claiming that he could not afford to pay for the remediation. Then, he demanded that a business associate of his, an NY State Licensed mold remediator, inspect the damage and provide an estimate for removal but before this occurred he agreed to pay them $3500 for the remediation. After his business associate assessed the damage and estimated $5,000 for the work, Greg Rupert refused this conclusion as well. Nine weeks later Greg Rupert caused further delays inventing claims that the mold had been there all along and that his employee son who blew in all the attic insulation most likely never noticed it. We refuted this lie as well. Finally, Greg Rupert then demanded that he was going to have the mildew "carbon tested" to determine its age despite the fact that two industry experts informed him that this was not possible. Now, we are forced to go to Small Claims Court to recover our out-of-pocket expenses of over $5,100. We most definitely suffered from the harassment and unethical conduct of this business owner and we should never have been subjected to such treatment.

This locally owned business is top notch! Lance was immediately responsive to see what needed to be done and provided us with an estimate immediately. We booked and they gave us a date and were right on schedule! I would recommend to anybody!!
