This place is great. the owner is amazing. they came in and did above exceptional work and made it stress free along the way. the crew is speedy and friendly. i wouldn’t trust anyone else with the job. they were in and out fast with results that were out of this world. we called multiple places to help fix our water issue and tony and his team were the answer to our calling. not only were they affordable they were a quarter of the cost of everyday and any other company in the area. They used high quality material that will last and has a warranty. if you ever have any issues with water intrusion inside your home i recommend you call these guys.there great!

Tony and his crew replaced all the windows in our last house, as well as waterproofing the basement, and it was perfect.. so when we moved, we called on him again! This time we got a full replacement of basement windows as well as a nice quick release window for a basement bedroom. The job was timely, affordable, and very well done. Tony has always gone above and beyond for us, and we couldn’t recommend Gem City Home Improvements more!

Completely gutted a basement that clearly had been wet many times, even with a a sump pump in place. The property was purchased as is and the smell of mold and mildew was very strong all throughout house. We has received quotes from other similar businesses. One quote was three times the amount of GEM CITY WATERPROOFING!!!The decision was made and Gem City Waterproofing started exactly on date and time as promised and every single day as promised until completion of the job. They have an amazing system and team!! They are professional, courteous, positive, helpful and kind!! It shows they love their jobs!! The Foreman is amazing, hardworking and kept us informed as the job progressed. Everyday before they left they cleaned up the job site. This Company is absolutely a true “ GEM” in theDayton area!!!Don’t think because their bid is going to be such a huge savings- compared to the other companies you get bids from who I guarantee will do not nearly the quality and all the extras that GEM CITY does the correct way the first time and for as inexpensive as you’ll find!!! They have been in business for many decades! Don’t live with an unhappy/sick house...CALL GEM CITY WATERPROOFING!!! You will be so happy the you did!! When they are finished your home will feel like a totally different home with a warranty to boot! They work very hard for all they do!!

I was really had a great feeling when the manager came to my salon and did a walk through.. upon leaving he saw that I was busy and told me to come to the shop so that we could go over some options. He told me that he was leaving the shop @5 pm the next day and to ask for him.. I didn't have time the next day and I was about to go on vacation so I waited a couple of weeks.. I went and he opened the door. I gave him a friendly greeting and said you don't remember me do you.. ? He said no. I let him know that I was the salon down the street and he had told me to come I so that he could go over some options. He cut me off and told me that he he didn't say that and would never tell anyone that .. he said that he would type up an estimate and send it to me.. so I'm still trying to get him to remember me I said nooo you told me.. and he went off and said look I don't want to do any business with you... That's the type of day I'm having so just go! I was shocked but I don't try to force my money on anyone that doesn't want it.. but that was rude and undeserving

I tried to call this company many times and couldn't get anyone on the phone so I just went there. When I got there they took my number and said someone will call me. The owner did and came to my house to look at it. Then he said he will call me with a estimated amount in a couple of days to do the work. I did not here from him in a week so I call him and he said he will call me. Well another week went by still haven't heard from him so I call him once again and he tells me that he will call. Long story short this happened at least 4 times in the month of September that I called him and he told me the same thing. I gave up and to this day I have not heard from him and this is November.

My mother didn't recall who repaired 4 foundation leaks over 25 years ago. I called several waterproofing businesses including Gem City leaving messages.Tony called back informing me they had done the original work and my two minor leaks were covered by a lifetime warranty. Tony arrived on time to assess the issues. He explained the newer sealant materials would effectively seal deeper into the foundation blocks and the repairs were covered 100% by warranty.Two servicemen came out and injected sealant materials efficiently and effectively. They laid out drop cloths and cleaned up when the job was done. No charges, no service call fees, just a job well done.After two months, the new sealant has eliminated the leaks.I recommend this business.

I requested this company to come assess an issue with a previously waterproofed basement by a company that is no longer in business. When I called back to discuss the write up report, Tony did all the talking. Everytime I tried to speak or ask questions I was immediately spoken over and he continued to speak. After about 8 minutes or so, I was able to stop his part of the conversation and started to state that I am trying to ask some question and let him know about what was accomplished 8 years ago, which would answer or contribute to his "unknowns" as part of his write up.He then proceed to tell me that he needs to have his position heard, and I needed to "listen." I asked him if he wanted my business, and he stated if it was "going to be like this, then no, they don't want my business." I said then you won't get it, and hung up. When calling the customer service number to speak to his manager or someone to lodge a complaint, I was told he was the manager.He also didn't provide a free estimate (which I was not aware of when I asked my property management company to call). Money down the drain.Unprofessional, Customer Service is not a quality of this person that represents this company.

If I could give them 0 stars, I would. Here is my experience with them. The manager, Tony, showed up at my house at the agreed upon time. Fine, I greeted him, invited him to come in, and is my custom in my house, asked him to please remove his shoes. It went downhill from there very quickly. He flatly refused to do so, claiming, unbelievably, that "his shoes are clean and he does not take them off." Well, how about shoe covers, I asked, but by then he had already turned around and simply walked to his car and drove away. Needless to say, the level of unprofessionalism was shocking. I do not care whether he is or not a competent contractor - this was not even addressed in the short visit he made to my house. He is simply too good to take off his shoes. Well, he is not good enough to earn my business.

Do not waste your time, go with another company! Tony kept me waiting outside of a house I am under contract to purchase for almost 2 hours waiting for him to show up to inspect. When he finally arrived, he had not checked in with the realtor to gain access codes for the house and couldn't get in to inspect the basement. He told me he had other things to do and was very busy and didn't have time to wait 5 minutes to sort it out even though I had waited almost 2 hours for him to arrive. Once we gained entrance to the house he spent less than 5 minutes in the basement before telling me it needed almost $7,000 to address water issues. I attempted to ask questions, but again he didn't have a lot of time for me. I requested that he write up his findings for me with an estimate to provide to the seller and he refused, saying he doesn't write up reports. He wrote down a quote of $6800 on the back of his business card and said they can call him with questions. Well, when of course they did have questions, it took him over a week to respond. We needed an itemized quote for services and ended up just wanting to install a sump pump. When we finally got him to return a call, he said he wasn't interested in that type of work. Not interested?! It's what you do! Terrible customer service bordering on hostile. Do yourself a favor and hire someone else.

My mother had set up an appointment for an estimate. We waited there for over an hour, with no communication from the business. The man showed up 5 minutes after the hour timeframe. He begrudgingly put on his mask after he saw that we had ours on. Rather than apologizing for his tardiness, he chalked it up to “it’s raining”. As my mom and the contractor went down to the basement, she offered to show him pictures of the flooding that happens when it rains. He immediately responded with “oh I don’t need to see that”. He jumped into explaining what they would do to the basement, and I heard my mom asking questions to try to understand our options. He responded with “Oh you don’t have any options besides that”. As my mom tried to ask another question, he replied with “Well if you would let me finish what I was saying...” and “YOU called ME. We are good with what we do. Do you want to listen, or will you keep interrupting me?”. He was completely rude and unprofessional and made us feel disrespected and uncomfortable. This is not a business that is woman friendly or centered around customer service. We will gladly take our business elsewhere.

Couldn't be happier! You need to get with Ned, Sales Rep and his team with George as the crew leader! Replaced our old roof beautifully! Honest, quick time, excellent work, excellent customer relations!!! They went above and beyond and stuck to the quoted price, cleaned up everything afterwards, so you couldn't even tell they were here! Would highly recommend them!!Service: Roof installation

Stay the hell away from this place!! DO NOT even waste a moment of your time!! Tony is by far the the rudest and most unprofessional person you will deal with in your lifetime. He showed up late because his "time is precious," to assess our crawl space. He was there for a few minutes, did not even look in the crawl space and told us it was "6-8k at least" to fix our crawl space. As soon as we very politely asked what all needed done and what the issues were, in order to get a better understanding of why it was 6-8k (without even looking at the crawl space), it went downhill from there. He started cursing at us and walking away. We had a couple tiny puddles in our crawl space that we suspected was from a leaking outdoor spigot. We called a real professional in, crawl space is perfectly fine, just needed to fix the spigot. I wish we would have read some of the reviews on here before we called him, because they're spot-on! Loser!

I looked up this company after they did some work for me because I was looking to recommend them to a friend, and I saw all of the very poor recommendations so I had to offer a counter! These guys were my contractor of choice while remodeling my basement, and while I did most of the work myself, I contracted them out for sealing up some leaks in the foundation and replacing all the windows with glass block. 7 years later, the foundation repairs are still holding up perfectly, and our glass block windows look great. There was one issue during installation of the windows, but they very quickly fixed the issue and were fantastic to work with. Just remember when reading bad reviews not everyone like me comes to talk about how good of a job someone did, but people who are pissed off or don't understand what needs to be done sure will complain!

This company is the most unprofessional I have ever experienced. Tony (owner!) came to give estimate. Was asked to take off shoes (we have white carpet). He replies, no, he doesn't do that. Ok....how about booties? Nope. He doesn't do that either. Turns around and walks away. Excuse me? Clearly, we are not doing business with this company and encourage everyone else to stay away as well.

This is the worst experience I have ever had with a business. I cannot even describe how poor the customer service is. The general manager is by far the rudest person I have ever met in my entire life. If you have any questions about any of the work he will immediately start screaming at you. It's honestly unlike anything I've ever seen. This is posted all over the Internet about how rude he is but the company does nothing about it because it is "family owned" and he will certainly let you know that. He likes to tell you how you have nobody else to speak with but him. It takes them twice as long to finish the work and the workers work 4 hour days, sometimes 5 if your lucky. Stay away from this place!!

Water-proofed a basement for us and installed a sump pump. Hard working crew in very cold conditions. Basement has stayed dry through a very wet winter and spring. Basement looks great, stays dry. Highly recommend.
