I was there for some of the installations and was shocked by the huge number of hangars he installed to make sure the gutters would not come off during a heavy snow fall. In need of a new roof, I had four bids and chose AM-1 Roofing, Inc. for many reasons, not just price, although the bid prepared by Jorge Valdez was very competitive. When Jorge came to the house, he was straight to-the-point, honest, and had actual roofing samples in his truck. Jorge helped me decide which type of roof was needed and left a sample. The quote prepared by Jorge listed two roofing options. Jorge sold something needed not something outrageous (as other companies). Turn around time, from date of approval of the bid, to date of completion, was 14 days. When the roofing team arrived, they were clean, professional, friendly, and did an outstanding job. As a certified CIFE, Stanford Engineering VDC graduate, and construction college professor, I have over 50 years of experience building and developing properties in multiple states in some of the most extreme weather conditions on the planet. Even with all my experience dealing with many crews, from small to large contracts, I, unfortunately, became a victim of an unscrupulous roofing company that advertised having a current Construction Contractors Board (CCB) license, which took me for a sizable amount of dollars. Proof anyone can be conned. Having to deal with the start time constraints of tearing off the old warn-out leaky roof and installing a new roof made the project more challenging.I know there are plenty of good solid, honest roofing companies in Deschutes County, but one stood out. After contacting AM-1 Roofing and having a lengthy discussion, I felt I was heard and understood. AM-1 Roofing agreed to the additional roofing techniques, quick start time, and tight schedule for completion. Given my recent experience, needless to say, I was apprehensive about signing another roofing contract. AM-1 gave me reasonable time to think about their contract, and after double-checking their CCB license, I decided to sign the contract. True to their word and my great relief, they started the job earlier than expected. Tear-off was efficient, and great care of debris was disposed of properly.The area around the house was cleaned up every day. Ice and water shield were correctly installed, including the additional ice and water shield I requested. They did a fantastic job of installing metal valleys, chimney cricket, replacing of skylights, and curbs. AM-1 was on the same page as me and installed heavy-duty ventilation grills on the eves and cut-in ridge ventilation to eliminate icicles. The high-quality installation of flashing, water diverters, and new shingles made me feel terrific because, as a roofer myself, I know that my roof will be trouble-free for many years to come, even in the harsh winter and summers our county incurs year-round. If you are looking for a conscientious, honest, and highly skilled company that does what they say, you need not look any further than AM-1 Roofing. I am from the old school that a handshake is a contractual agreement, and even though I had a written contract with AM-1 Roofing, I felt as comfortable with them as a handshake. I have been working closely with am1 for several years on many different commercial job sites and with many of their installers. Many jobs now require water testing for window systems. Am1 installs the metal flashing to prepare openings for windows. It is painfully obvious that am1 does not train their installers in waterproofing their product. This has directly affected me and the company I work for several times. On top of this, in my experience, their crew is unkempt, unprofessional, and unreliable. Am1 are the joke of commercial building in central Oregon. I just saw your response to my post. You seem to have a problem accepting your company’s role in in the negative reviews posted in this forum. I suggest that you take a honest assessment of am1’s on going lack of professionalism. The review I left for this company was earned and I take no joy in leaving it.

We were more than upset about the way they conducted themselves. I think the main thing was we asked them to enclose an area they missed that had pigeons in them and instead of removing the pigeons they enclosed them inside. When we returned and figured this out they had died in the area they were enclosed. Zero compassion and other vendors we were working with commented on it. We will not be using this company again.
