I have known Jason Smith as a friend and a contractor since about 2007. He has done extensive remodeling on a 100+old 2 story cottage and a large 2 story 1960's townhouse: floors, blue-stone walls, porcelain counters, tiling, complete bathroom renovations: installing a new upstairs bath where only a bedroom existed, new support beam structures to open up a staircase, taking a wall out between kitchen and living/dining spaces, hand made steel flat panel stair rail installed, new window openings and installation; I could go on.Jason and I have worked together, designed together, discussed options together; all the while he has been receptive to my eccentric ideas. He did tell me that he could do anything I wanted, "for this much more..." he cautioned. I did understand that is was My " this much more" we must consider and wisely said never mind.I trust Jason. I trust I can take any concerns or desires to him for discussion. I have referred his company to my friends. He is a friend and he gives good advice to me when I fantasize a possible project but underestimate the cost or the complexity. He is the person I can call for advice or referrals even if he isn't doing a project for me.What I remember best is his reassuring smile when I was apoplectic about the stress of a project: his re-assuring, "We'll 'getter' done."Good man, good work.Linore BlackstoneServices: Kitchen countertop installation, Tile work installation, Install flooring, Tile work replacement, Kitchen cabinet door replacement, Kitchen countertop replacement, Remodeling, Interior structural repairs, Drywall installation, Kitchen cabinet design, Plumbing fixture installation, Drywall repair

In 2016 we bought a 100-year-old house and Jason did a complete renovation for us. Six years have gone by, and our home is as strong and beautiful as it was the day Jason finished the job. Whenever we have a new project, we call Jason because we know he will do a good job every time. We recommended him to our neighbors and now he’s worked on four houses on our street.

Thank you, Jason Smith Construction for my beautiful new kitchen. The design process and planning were simple when working with Jason. His insight on what he can do for us is remarkable. I relayed what i wanted and thats what i received., down to the smallest detail. He does only the highest quality work and expects such from his subcontractors and employees. I cannot recommend this company enough. Thank you again!

Jason has done work for us previously, and we had always dreamed of adding this second story. Jason patiently walked us through the process, hired a structural engineer and thought of nearly every possible problem that we could address. The end result is stunning. Although we had the roof ripped off half the house, the new area seamlessly fits into the house and our neighbours tell us they cant remember what it looked like before the remodel. We had new electrical, HVA, carpet, roofing and obviously everything in between. Jason isnt just a contractor, hes got a great sense of design, including suggesting a ceiling treatment that truly makes the room below the addition stunning. I have gorgeous new space, that takes advantage of a view I didn't realize we would have. Jason is a professional and truly treats the job like he was doing it for his own family - things are simply done right. His crew is friendly and extremely hard working, as is Jason himself

Living in Portland for three years, I have noticed that people are very judgmental. The one thing I know coming from Silicon Valley is the billionaire may be wearing flip flops and a t-shirt.My wife and I were in Lake Oswego and have always wanted to check out the Goodwill Boutique. We have never heard of the Boutique brand associated with Goodwill. We stopped in to check it out. While there, I had an opportunity to chat with a gentleman, Jose A., buying boots. He mentioned to the sales lady that he was in the area doing construction on new homes. I jumped to speak with him as I have been looking to find a contractor for my home. Jose’s first answer to me was “No I’m not a contractor,” he paused noticing the awkwardness of changing his story and then he said, “I am a contractor, but our company only work on high end homes.” So, the inference is I do not have a high-end home?I figured, let’s take the conversation further. I asked about the median price to remodel a bath and kitchen. I then explained what we were looking to accomplish at our home. After, I told him where I lived in Dunthorpe, what I paid for my home and how much I have invested into the home he asked me to get in touch with his team. This is not the attitude I want at my house.Hmmmmm…I guess I passed the test for high end homes even though I was at Goodwill. I will be finding another contractor to complete my work.Moral of the story don’t judge people. You never know whose your next client.

I looked at your web site, and saw what I wanted in a contractor. You were on the job daily, oversaw all aspects start to finish. You never cut corners, do it right the first time every time, you’re a perfectionist & you make sure you are on time/on budget. You sold me something that you didn’t deliver. I took your word you would make my kitchen perfect. I assumed that you would be involved & oversee the job.You were here 3 times, there was no oversight of your unlicensed workers. You informed me that you would only be doing my kitchen & a bathroom at the same time so my job would be a priority. It wasn’t.-Demo day, your guys didn't put plastic up to protect my house. They left most of the nails in the demo sticking out (some at heads height of myself and my kid). They left a hole in my floor that was a hazard for my elderly father/kid.-I had everything in place when it needed to be there: my sink, faucet, tile, paint, railing details. You wanted to put windows in that did not match my 1911 home. I said those wouldn’t work, you said you would get back to me about who does that kind of detail. You didn’t. I found & ordered my own windows.-I had to ask the electrician to return & re-center the pendant light. I noticed that press board, not wood, was ordered for my interior window trim before it was installed.-I came home to a faucet installed, I turned it on & no water was coming out. Who installs a faucet $ doesn’t turn it on? I informed him & when he came back to fix it his solution was to bypass the touch sensor, the reason I bought that specific faucet. He told me to call Delta. Not my job, but I took the time to do this. He eventually figured it out.-There was a missing can light under the small cabinet. He said there wasn’t a can that would match that would fit. I told him that I don’t want any cans then because it looks unfinished. He ended up finding one.-There was no prep for the paint job. I see debris under the paint. My range hood was not protected when they painted the ceiling so I spent many hours getting paint off. They didn’t paint the walls before window trim or cabinets went in so they had to cut in around the tile, cabinets & window trim. It is obvious that they painted after the fixtures went back up. I had them redo mud room wall 2 times because we could see the sheet rock line through it even after the 2nd fix.-The tile job went well until it came to caulking at the countertop/tile line. They used grout, not caulk. When I informed you, you responded with “we just let the grout crack/fail & then we use the caulk”.-The flooring guy came to patch/refinish the floor. He was told NOT to replace the one board going in the opposite direction.-The designer insisted the opening be 36” between countertops, it was 34” when you finished. Your response “I didn’t take into account the overhang of the countertops”.-The soap dispenser was installed in the countertop too far from the sink. When I wash dishes & add soap it goes onto the countertop & wall of the sink.-The wrong crown molding was purchased. The new one (which I don’t like is larger/ornate & not in period with my 1911 home) was picked b/c it was in stock & the other one took 6 weeks to get. I met with him 13 weeks ago, he had time to get the right crown but waited too long to order it. I should have had the crown molding cost taken off my bill. Instead I will have to pay for it on my own to replace it.-On the deck railing they missed the center on many of the spindles and split the wood and the screws are showing.I am reasonable & expect bumps on remodels. It's too much for me to discount as usual & customary.Your final bill was 12K more than our bid. I didn’t sign a change orders for the increase, I wouldn’t have agreed to this. Jason came to meet with me, we settled the bill in the middle, I paid 6K more than planned. He hasn't returned to caulk despite many calls.
