After about a year being in the Grad hospital area I heard about C&R and decided to stop in to check them out. I was surprised to find that it’s basically a small Home Depot with a paint department and all! They’re only open during the day and seems to service mostly contractors but I have picked up so many random items I needed for different projects without having to run to Columbus Blvd and deal with the HD staff. The staff at C&R knows exactly what they are talking about and have been great guiding me to exactly what I need.Edit 8/30/2018 - I hadn’t been in for a couple months and stopped in today and I’m just always impressed with the service I receive. As soon as I got in through the interior doors the gentleman who works in paint greeted me and asked if I needed help finding anything, I did and he led me right to it. I got up to the register and the guy behind the counter was pleasant and efficient and I was out the door. Great experience.

Stay away from this business! How can an employee hit a parked customer's car in broad daylight and then the so-called "boss" is not even humble enough to offer an apology. Very disappointed and will never shop here again!!Came in hoping to get building materials, left with a banged up trunk instead! If that's what they do a customer's innocently parked car, imagine what they could do with the products being sold. This ranks as the most horrible customer experience in my entire life.I'll try to contact the owner to discuss this further as my insurance claims and legal processes proceed as this is supposedly a family business, which in an ideal world should treat customers like family. Instead, they treat you even worse than trash. Again, stay away!!!

My husband and I did a full gut renovation of our South Philly home and Mike Spotts was so helpful through the process in picking out our doors, trim (baseboards, wall molding, door casing) and door hardware. The construction process was very stressful for us but working with Mike made it so much easier. Thank you so much, Mike, for your patience with my *very* specific needs! 😆

Went in for Benjamin Moore paint. Saw one of their price tags knocked over so when I went to bend down and fix it for them.. one of their customer service men walked over towards me. Thought he was going to help but instead all he said was “you look really good on your knees” and walked away. If you’re a female and looking to buy paint, hardware, etc. without getting verbally assaulted GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!

Went there for an affordable shelf to install in my small kitchen. Flaco was really nice and helped us figure out exactly what we needed to get it done, and all for only $36. The bar turned out perfectly. We will never go to another supply store as long as we live in philly.

A friend told me about this place. I came from NJ and was not disappointed. Charmaine P was outstanding. She is extremely knowledgeable and helpful and tried to find ways to save us money even when their prices are already so reasonable. My wife and I can be quite indecisive so Charmaine’s patience couldn’t be better especially when you tack on two children at or under 2 in the middle of everything. I can’t recommend this place enough and Charmaine. Thank you Charmaine!

C&R is your last word in DIY/contractor supply. The selection is beyond impressive and the same can be said for the staff. Flacko especially went out of his way to help my wife and I find what we needed to build our kitchen bar. It's employees like Flacko that ensure a businesses success and longevity.Attached is a picture of our completed bar, at C&R it was only $36 to purchase everything we needed to complete it. Very affordable.

Cheaper than home depot, by far faster service, easy to get in and out, all the staff is very knowledgeable and very helpful, they have tons of high-end and designer material in the showrooms ( kitchen cabinets, hardwood flooring, bathroom vanities and tubs ), and they deliver for free. As a contractor I love them they make my job so much easier.I am compelled to add to my review, today I went to home Depot out of convenience to buy a pack of contractor shims it was $34.99 a pack, I went to c&r building supply and it was $21.99 a pack, at this point I refuse to buy anything at home Depot they are a total rip off just imagine CNR is making a profit selling it at $22 a pack.

Great showroom with gorgeous fixtures, tiles, etc. Airs Appliances is top- notch. Personnel are nice, helpful , professional. I have bought all of my appliances from Marvin for over 20 years.Their delivery service is another matter. It's based up in East Orange NJ (????). Deliverers & installers are two separate crews. They are expensive. Right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing. Left me stuck without washer/dryer for 2+ weeks. I had to do all the leg work to find out where they were (NOT in my laundry room).

Great selection of supplies, basically anything you could ever want. It is basically a slightly smaller home depot/lowes at a very convenient location. Similar to other reviews on here, I was put off by the employees/customer service. There was no offer of assistance at any point (which is fine, I'm at least competent at these stores), but I imagine for others that could be tough. I found what I needed, and while shopping the entire time I could hear the guy at the paint counter talking really loud on his cell phone... legit think I heard him say (Hey mom, how's the snow shoveling). Legit seems rude. The guy I checked out with was nice, but quiet, and had to wait a little while in line on a Monday morning because there were contractors in front of me buying a lot.Anyways, I will be coming back here in the future whenever I'm working on things in my house.

The paint department is outstanding! Ordering a closet door here was a game-changer for me... saved about $100 compared to the big-box stores. Also, check out the showroom across the lot! Friendly staff there ready to answer all your questions and so many products are in stock.

I bought a really nice bathroom vanity from here, but the service was not great. I ordered it 7 months ago and was told that for an extra $100 I could have it the following week. Otherwise, since It would be coming from New York, they wait until there is enough orders from that vendor to fill a truck - so no guess on how long I'd have to wait in order to skip the extra fee. Makes sense. I was already paying a lot and I wasn't in a rush. I called after about 4 months and talked to the sales guy, still not enough orders to fill the truck. After 7 months I finally decided that I'd pay the $100 to get the sink, so I left him a message, didn't hear back in a few days and left another message, still no call back. I went into the store and he called the vendor to check the status, and they told him that they already shipped it and it should be at C&R. He checked and it was out back. No explanation, no "oops" sorry about that. Remembering that they stocked a ton of faucets, I asked to change the finish from nickel to chrome, he said no problem. My plumber goes to pick it up today and they don't have the chrome faucet, so I go back to nickel - no big deal, but did he even reserve it? No explanation. Good news is that I saved $100, bad news is that they are really incompetence & lazy there.

The team at C&R Buildings Supply's Paint Desk went above and beyond to help us! Our son just moved and the whole family pitched in. Painting indoors & exterior. We were working with chips of paint and hoping for specific paints in 5 gallon containers - plus 1 gallon cans too. Included, showing up near closing on our first trip in. Jose & Selina were great - they stayed late and tried hard to match all of our requests. The job got done, the place looks great. Tip o the cap to C&R and their Paint Team!

Terrible, terrible customer service and complete lack of communication. Began kitchen renovation at the end of July, finally received all cabinets 2 days before Thanksgiving. While supply chain issues due to Covid were understandable, their complete and total inability to communicate or provide any customer service throughout the project exacerbated the delays. They also refused to let me talk to a manager to provide any feedback. Would NOT recommend.

Prices are decent. As a retail customer they have poor customer service. Every time I goto the showroom it seems that I'm bothering them at first. Most of the time I have to stand in front of them for 5 mins to get them to acknowledge me.

Great store, but infuriating to try to reach by telephone. The phone rings and rings and no one, ever, ever picks it up! The guy who prices out windows and doors is so slow -- took six weeks to get pricing for three custom commercial windows and two commercial glass doors.

I've had mixed luck finding parts for household repairs, and the prices are so so at best. They do have supplies for people doing major work on a house, but I've never been to C&R with that purpose. For day to day stuff, I would recommend Rittenhouse Hardware - I have had much better experiences there.

I was there yesterday and they were so confident that they have what I want but obviously they were saying you close to 5 so come back tomorrow and we will get you what you want. So I drove from New Jersey 1 hour and when I walk into the store they told me we don't have vanity that you picked yesterday waste 4 hours of my life

An excellent mash-up of a local hardware store and a builders supply house without the big guy attitude. Complete supply of Simpson Strongtie products for deck or house building. About every type of fastener imaginable. Excellent paint supplies. Plumbing, v good and if you can't find it there's Ferguson nearby. Electrical selection is limited. Great selection of Milwaukee tools and accessories. Open on Saturday.
