Michelle (see photos) was an exceptional tour guide. I would go further to say that she is the best tour guide I have ever encountered in many dozens of tours throughout the United States. She was informative, personable, knowledgeable and gracious. I highly recommend taking this approximately 45 minute tour. You will learn a lot and be entertained as well!

Newly renovated and beautiful! The mine tour was fascinating - it felt like walking back in time. The tour guide was informative and personable and pointed out interesting aspects of the mine. My 8 and 10 year old girls said the mine was a highlight of the trip. Highly recommend!!!!

Absolutely loved! It is a definite must see! The museum is filled with lots of interesting pictures, items, machines, and memorabilia! We took the tour of the Town of Pocohontas in addition to the Exhibition Coal Mine tour and we were amazed at the history of the town and knowledge of our tour guide, Dale! Worth the trip and very affordable!

In addition to being able to delve into the mine itself, there is this very informative museum with lots of old mining gear and information about the history of the mine. If you are in the area, this is certainly worth a stop, especially if you are unfamiliar with the subject. The tours are great, and the guides are very friendly and knowledgeable about all things to do with mining.

The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly,They have lots of stuff to look at and to learn from. I also felt that it was a great history lesson that we are not taught about in school. I think it is very important for us to learn and to see first hand what some of our ancestors had to go through.

We are from Michigan and brought my mom and our adult children and grandchildren to see this exhibit. My mom grew up in this area and her dad was a coal miner. We thoroughly enjoyed going through this mine. But without Michelle telling the story for us it would not have been the same. She is a great storyteller. Definitely worth going through.

If you want to learn about how hard mining is and was, this is the museum to visit. It’s a moment in time that left me overwhelmed with respect for the miners and sadness for their lives. Hard lives that included the death of children due to mining accidents. Low pay and hard times but the miners kept our country running during two world wars. If you get a chance visit this museum and take the tour you will not forget it

Michelle is the best story teller. She made the tour so fun and the museum is a must see if you’re visiting West Virginia. Great history of the mining industry.

We visited here during our trip to the Pocahontas trail system. Our kids had a great time learning about the miners and what it was like back in those days. Our tour guide was great and very knowledgeable and answered any questions we had.

Very interesting tour that we liked so much last year we brought friends back to see it this year. Michele is a wealth of information, so personable and an excellent guide. She really makes the difference. It’s so sad to learn about the working conditions and how the workers and their families were treated but there was also a lot of great positives.History ! We should learn from it and never erase it.

Lots of good information about mining, exhibits included models, old photos, actual equipment used and an interesting and informative tour of the Pocahontas Coal Mine. Staff was extremely knowledgeable, helpful & friendly. Great value. Tip: take a jacket or sweater for the mine tour.

Just down the road from Busted ATV Resort is the Pocahontas coal mine. It's very impressive and well worth the $10 fee for the tour.

I’ve visited the mine several times over the last 15 years and have now taken the tour twice. This last time, Dale, the tour guide, was amazing. You can take a walking tour or riding tour. You will see are hear what mining was all about and what the minors faced. If you’ve visited this place before, go back and experience all the work that was put in to make the tour and museum better. There is now a restaurant at the museum. Will be visiythe area again in October and we’ll return and tour again. This time we’ll go on a Sunday to take the trolley tour through the town. Can’t wait!

Excellent tour for children or anyone interested in the history of mining. The section of the mine on the tour was developed before modern methods so it is interesting to see how the went about extracting the coal. High roof height probably wouldn't bother many with claustrophobia, mine once was a self guided tour in your own vehicle. Nice fossils a long the way as well. Tour guide was great.

My great Grandpa use to be a coal miner here back in the day. We took my 84 year old Grandma back to this place along with family. It was a great tour and the lady who lead it was fab!
