We had a great 5 day stay at the lodge. The accommodations were top notch. The service and food was phenomenal. And we caught tons of fish, halibut, pacific cod, yellow-eye, rock fish, octopus & snow crab out of the pots!We will definitely be back to see Mike and his team!

My stay at Larsen Bay Lodge was outstanding. The highlights of my trip was that me and my friend both harvested trophy bucks and trophy ducks! We saw whales, seals, sea otters, eagles, and enjoyed saltwater fishing as well. The staff there was terrific. The food was amazing. Overall the kitchen staff and guides were all great. I plan on going back in the future.

I have to be honest, fishing was not at the top of my vacation list but I went along with it any way—thank goodness we ended up at Larsen Bay Lodge!The food was phenomenal. Crab cakes made from the catch we just took off the boat and bead pudding that tasted like heaven, were a few of my favorites. I seriously wanted to take Chef Debby home with me.The lodging was way nicer than I would have expected in a place so remote. I loved that they could accommodate various group sizes and keep us all together. The lodge is right on the water and bald eagles hang out on the beach like seagulls. I have never seen anything like it!The boats were warm, spacious and filed with a great and encouraging crew. (Bonus: they had bathrooms!) They had some sort of special permit allowing us to catch halibut on closure days, which was super nice! They sent me home with more fish than I caught—90 lbs of salmon and halibut fillets, plus and a few lingcod as well.My favorite day was flying to Frazer River, walking amongst the Kodiak bears and fishing for sockeye salmon. We were literally fishing on one shore as the bears were doing the same thing on the other side. It was like a dream. I know I wasn’t thrilled about a fishing trip in the beginning, but now I cannot wait to go back.Oh, also, Mike (the owner of Larsen Bay Lodge) was so hospitable. He was genuinely happy for each persons catch (regardless of size) and made us feel more like friends than customers. Thank you Mike!Sorry this is long, I just can’t say enough good things. Looking forward to many return trips to Larsen Bay Lodge in the future.

Very nice, BUT there is things that need to be worked on. The accommodations we were in need lots and lots of updating and fixing. It was called the White House and need so much updating to make you feel at home when your there and for the money. The couches seemed like their large dogs used as their personal beds. One of the bathrooms was so out dated and old that I used shower shoes to take showers and there was a large hole in the corner of the shower.The dinner was good but ALWAYS cold. The lunches were so bad after the second day I didn’t eat the sack lunches. The owner was wrong everyday when he would tell us the weather and game plan for the next day. He seemed full of himself. To the point that the day our large group was going to leave we could not. He said he contacted someone and said it was going to be great weather to fly out and most everyone had to stay another night because they could not get the planes to pick us up. Some of us had to charter a private plane to get us out. $500 extra each person that left. I would recommend only 3 day trip if you have an option. 5 days is way too long.And then when we got our fish to bring home we only got 49 lbs. There were 22 of us and seemed like we caught way more fish than that but we will never know because they never gave us a total weight each day. No phone service either. Internet was hit or miss. Good luck if you book with them.

Best fishing trip ever. Highly recommended. Great food served hot every day. Staff did everything to make us feel welcome. Mike and Tamerin were very professional. All boat captains made sure we were where the fish were. I plan on going back soon. Rooms were amazing. Great ocean view. Trip was beyond my expectations.

This was our second time at Larsen Bay Lodge, and we can't wait to plan our next trip! The staff is super helpful and welcoming to both the expert fisherman and amateurs like myself. I have never caught so much salmon in one trip, our freezer is full! We did not expect to find a cabin like this in remote Alaska. It was so great to come back from a full day of fishing to satellite tv and a king bed, and the best meals from Debbie.

Wonderful is the best word I can use to describe our trip to Larsen Bay Lodge! From the time we landed til we departed, the staff was right there to see that we had the best possible experience. My favorite memory was one morning fishing on the Karluk river with a family of bears fishing just on the other side. I have to admit the bears were better fisherman but I caught my limit. I want to thank Mike, Tamarin, and the entire staff for a wonderful trip, I will be back!

We just finished another Cast & Blast trip to Larsen Bay Lodge. I am a Larsen Bay Lodge junkie and have been going there year after year fishing in the summer or hunting and fishing in the fall. Although the weather was unseasonably mild, we still shot some amazing bucks and the Alaska Slam of trophy ducks: harlequin, Barrow’s goldeneye and old squaw (long tailed duck). We even had time to do some fishing. The lodge facilities, staff and food is terrific. I am already making plans to return next summer with my grandson for some salmon and halibut fishing!

This was a FANTASTIC experience! My son and I will talk about this trip for the rest of our lives. Great People, great accommodations, superb fishing, and the food was EXCELLENT! I cannot say enough wonderful things about the Larsen Bay Lodge and the people who work there to make it so great. I shout-out to TJ, our Captain, who put us on fish every day, and some BIG ones! Had a fantastic week with my son and grandson and good friends with his boys enjoying the remote Alaska Kodiak Island and the hospitality of the Carlson Family and Staff. Great fishing experience, along with once in a lifetime trip to wilderness river to Salmon fish and observed Brown Bears fishing along with us. Boats, Gear, Guides, cook and staff where 5 Star and we can’t wait to go back in 2021.

Had a fantastic time here.Owners and all the employees are super friendly.Guides very knowledgeable.Great boats and excellent captains.Lots of fishing, bear and other wildlife around.Every attention paid to guest comfort - no effort spared.The owner made a point of checking on all the guests at least twice a day.The owners were very accommodating to dietary needs we had.This is definitely the fanciest place in town and all around they have the best equipment, hospitality and accommodations by far.All in all had a fantastic time. If you're thinking about going I'd say just go right ahead and book now - you'll have the trip of a lifetime!

What a beautiful, peaceful wonderful place! I'm not much of a fisherman, but Mike and the Team at Larsen Bay Lodge were absolutely wonderful! Accomodations were good, food was very good and all the employees were focused on providing the very best possible experience. As a Hoosier from Indiana, Larsen Bay Lodge offered all if not more than i could have ever asked for! Thank you so much for all the fun, the memories and beautiful awesome views!

Larsen Bay Lodge is incredible! My experience there was truly an amazing adventure. There is such a wide variety of things that you can do there from Sitka Blacktail Deer hunting to duck hunting and fishing. The staff there are all very friendly and will do anything they can to help you. The lodging there is also great. There are several different types of lodges that you can stay in. While I was at Larsen Bay Lodge I harvested a nice Sitka Blacktail buck and several different types of trophy ducks, as well as fish. I fully intend on returning to Larsen Bay Lodge in the coming years. It was great!

Every member of the Larsen Bay Lodge staff constantly sought to give us a good experience. It was the best experience we have had at a lodge - to a large extent because of their hospitality, but the fishing and opportunities to see all sorts of wildlife while on the fishing excursions were also exceptional.

I have had the pleasure of visiting Mike & Tamarin in the past few years at Larsen Bay. This is Kodiak at it's finest with their ability to satisfy any type of hunting, fishing, or nature experience. Mike is "master" guide and his history defines Larsen Bay. Combined with Tamarin's hospitality skills- they have made Larsen Bay Lodge feel like home to the groups I have joined there. Thanks so much, we plan to visit again soon!

How can it be that each of my visits seemingly surpassed its predecessor in terms of the overall experience? OH MY GOSH!!! I would give 10 stars if I could. I have been on a few remote fishing trips in Alaska and this has been, by far, the best. You get a blend of ocean fishing, river fishing and bear watching. I took my 11 and 15 year old sons (their first trip to Alaska) and they did not want to leave. Mike and Tamarin were wonderful hosts. We will definitely be back.

Where do I begin?! Larsen Bay was the vacation and adventure of a lifetime. Mike & Tamarin begin with a first class welcome and facility. Then the staff make the stay unforgettable. The professional and knowledgable guides make the trip safe and fun, TJ is our favorite! An unexpected highlight was Chef Debbi. World class food! Truly unforgettable. I would not agree the owners of Larson bay lodge are friendly, I would agree that the staff is great. It is beautiful country as is all of kodiak. Mike was absolutely not truthful daily nor was Tamarin. They both made countless statements and promises that turned out inaccurate. I could only compare Mike to a used car salesman. It was a highly disappointing trip that cost way too much for the effort they put forth. There was countless outright lies with total disregard for our trip of a lifetime. A couple examples, they insisted the tide had nothing to do with the halibut bite the first couple days, then couldn’t stop talking about how the tide was affecting the bite the last few days. A couple members of our 7 party group really wanted to see bears, Mike stated the Karluk was where the highest volume of bears would be. When we arrived the guide said he had never seen a bear at Karluk. In hindsight us being at Karluk was the most efficient and profitable situation for Mike that day. His boat captains are kids with little to no experience and a serious lack of effort to get on the fish. They won’t fish outside the bay which is pathetic for AK. I felt like we where getting the run around on a daily basis and felt highly financially taken advantage of. I would not recommend this lodge to anyone.To address your response, my expectations where formed by the things you told me to expect. I passed exactly what you told me along to our group of eight so we all had expectations based on your lies. We spent over 40 grand because of your sales pitches and promises, then didn’t deliver. You are all about the money with fake smile on the front.

We could not have had a better experience! All in all, a first class operation run by first class people. The abundance of wildlife coupled with the remoteness and spectacular scenery make it a one of a kind place. As a bonus we all had successful deer and duck hunts! If I could not put a star at all I would do so. I'm only writing this to inform others of how very sorry and inconsiderate this lodge is willing to operate as a business. My fiance and I reserved our HONEYMOON with this lodge back in January, we sent the deposit, ordered our $2000 plane tickets and started planning our WEDDING around the availability of the dates they offered us. Yes, we planned our wedding date around the honeymoon, which is set for mid October (a very busy time of year for any thing tourist attraction wise and wedding planning)!!Well to our great disappointment on July 8th the lodge contacted my fiance via email and told us that they regretted to inform us but due to a number of cancellations at the time of reservations they were cancelling our trip. They claim that opening the lodge for 2 people during that week would be a loss for them and that they decided that they weren't going to open the lodge at all during the month of October. Now to try and place a band aid on this arterial bleed they offered us the option to RESCHEDULE our honeymoon for November when others guest would be at the lodge (may I remind you we had already purchased airline tickets) or for year 2020, all this inconvenience was going to come with a fantastic discount of 10%. Needless to say we asked for a full refund and we are actively working on reserving our honeymoon otherwise. Beware of a business that is willing to make these kind of risky decisions and truly not knowing if your trip is secure with them. We will never consider doing business with them again and this comes with a great disappointment.

Remember Fantasy Island? Remember the sad feeling you would have near the end of the show when all the characters that you'd become involved with were saying their farewells and staring wistfully back at Mr Roarke and Tattoo... Remember how they hesitated to get back on that floatplane, headed back to their hectic lives & problems they'd escaped for an episode? And how you didn't want them to go because you'd become so invested in their stories? This is That. This is that multiplied a hundred fold. And it is exactly how you'll feel when you have to leave this magical place. Because it was YOUR life, relationships YOU made, and a dream that YOU made come true. A 5 star review doesn't even come close, and it's impossible to explain the magic to others when you return home. "Home," ho-hum. The only remedy for the emptiness we now feel, is to plan our return. And that dream of returning with be my Happy Place til then.
