Rating the Water Mitigation team: Had a great experience with the water mitigation team. Edwin and Javier were respectful of our home and kept the area very clean. They definitely were top notch. They used ever tarp to keep our home clean from dust and mess. The next step where David Vasquez got involved is we’re it all went down hill. He never came to our home. His inability to return calls and communicate the steps and options is were we decided not to continue with Oakwood. I don’t agree with $1000 deposit when no services have been provided. It’s a charge just to set up the account. David did a poor job explaining the steps.Update: Spoke to Todd the Owner and President to discuss our experience and my review. I unfortunately didn’t speak to him while we experienced our issues. I believe it would have ended up completely positive IF I had spoken to him prior to choosing another contractor. I was pleased to have a positive conversation with Todd.

Oakwood did a great job with the mitigation and reconstruction in our house after many of the windows leaked. The whole house was packed out quickly and they took good care of our things. They did a great job working with our very slow insurance company but the work was all completed properly and finished several days ahead of schedule! Big shout to Devin in the office, our project manager Barry, and Ailyn and the pack-out team for all of their help!

There was lack of communication with Amy regarding the work we needed on our house.They completed the water damage part (removed sheet rock, insulation and sprayed for mold and dried it out) but when it comes to finishing the job we found out that they won’t come back to complete it because of the distance/drive (we live in Big Bear) so we are left to now find someone that will install the insulation, sheet rock, paint and put trim back up.Amy was totally aware and of the work that needed to be done and never once hinted that they could not do the whole job.We used them in 2019 for water damage we had and we were extremely happy with them. This is why we used them again after damage from TS Hilary.I am being generous when I give two stars only because the workers that came to our house were very professional.

Marie, Freddy, Lupe and Lambert packed and moved all of our possessions from our house, stored it all somewhere safe and brought them back like magic! This team has been efficient and professional every step of the way. I didn't worry about anything.It took a few days cause we have accumulated so much stuff. I would have lost my mind if I had to pack all my stuff on my own. Everything is back like it never left.

Rudy, Edwin, and Henry came out today in the rain to install a roof tarp. They called to let me know they were 30 minutes away. Their appointment window was between 9-11 AM, and they arrived at 8:50 AM. They were professional and courteous, informing me of everything they were going to do. They took photos of the tarping and conducted thermal scans of the rooms to check for moisture. These guys were great.Update:My first touchpoint was with Amy at the Oakwood Office. She was also very professional, followed up on the project, and provided me with a way to contact her during the weekend if I needed anything regarding the project. This was greatly appreciated.

Would not recommend company. The contractor JC has no customer service skills and lies about work. The company had to come out to my house several times to do the same measurements. I told JC why hasn't the quote been submitted and tries to lie about dates when other work was completed. Then JC hangs up on me and can't have a conversation without lying.

I recently had the pleasure of working with Todd and his team at Oakwood Construction and Restoration to rebuild our home after it was completely flooded last August while we were out of town visiting our daughter. Todd and his team took charge from day one right after the flood to quickly get started with measurements and insurance estimates. I was impressed with their professionalism and attention to detail. They completed the rebuild within the budget and timeline, which was very important to us. Todd and his team were great to work with and made the process as stress-free as possible. They were extremely flexible working with us in selecting materials, colors, etc. I would highly recommend Oakwood Construction and Restoration for anyone seeking restoration or construction needs.

I was in a Jam with my previous contractor which didn’t get permits and was not very responsive. OAKWOOD came and helped when I needed them most. These things take time, but Devin was always very responsive and helpful. Thank you so much Devin! This has been such devastating time for me, but they really came through. Shout out also to Ailyn in the packing department that made someone so stressful, way easier.

The owner of this company, Todd Benson, demonstrated outstanding professionalism and commitment towards resolving a payment dispute for a mutual client.I regret that I had previously left a low rating for Oakwood Construction, as it was written with information that was ill-advised. I firmly believe that Todd has the best interest for his working relationships, and wish Oakwood the best!

This company is a mess. I used them because they were recommended by USAA. They have major scheduling and planning issues. They were sent to my house to do a simple drywall fix. The 1st worker they sent to my house did such a poor job that the project manager was embarrassed. He said the job had to be done again. Then the company tried to send the same guy that botched the job in the 1st place place back to fix it. I called the project manager and explained my concern using the same guy that did a poor job and he delayed the work until he could find someone else. Second worker did a better job and then just rolled paint over the patches leaving uneven paint on the walls. They had to come back again to paint correctly. I was still not completely satisfied with the job but this was a rental property and me and my tenants were tired of trying to get on the schedule (which is a impossible task). This job should of been a 2 day job but with this company you can plan on a two day job taking 2 months. If your insurance recommends this company it would be in your best interest to find another company.

I am very pleased with the service provided by Oakwood Construction. They restored our kitchen after a water leak ruined all our floors and cabinets. Ramon Scott was the project manager in charge of our restoration and he did a fantastic job answering all questions and concerns we had. All work done was completed in a timely manner and to our specifications including drywall repair, paint, cabinets, floors, base boards, quarter rounds and even the outlets in the island got replaced, that electrician was the best. Even all the garbage and messes were cleaned up! I highly recommend the Oakwood team for your restoration needs and definitely ask for Ramon for next level customer service.

They take forever to finally get back to you, and when they do, they give you the runaround. They told me they would start our project in “6 weeks”. That was early January 2022. It’s now end of June 2022– five &-a-half months later 🤦‍♀️ No call from them. Does not respond to texts, VMs, nothing. They are the *only* company our homeowners insurance gave us to work with. Our home isn’t safe, it isn’t waterproof, burglar-proof… gaping holes front, back, side, fences ripped out (freak horrid windstorm caused all this) so our 3 small children can easily run into oncoming traffic.I come from a profession where my word is EVERYTHING. I’m good on my word. I would never leave a family hanging like this. This company is just the WORST. The fact that they haven’t even circled back to us to keep us in the loop, if they are running *this* late, checked in Do NOT go with Oakwood construction, whatever you do.

We had a flood in our entire downstairs January 2020 and required significant remediation and renovation that took over 3 months to complete. I used Oakwood Construction because my insurance company, USAA recommended them as one of their preferred contractors. USAA typically only contracts with businesses of high quality, so I went with their recommendation and worked with Oakwood.After all is said and done, I am not satisfied. I feel I was misled by Oakwood, and Oakwood was unwilling to resolve the issue with us. I wish I had stuck with Superior Restoration who had done our initial clean up.Oakwood lured me in with strong customer service through the contracting phase. But after that things went downhill. The project took a long time and I had to check and double check that everything was being done as expected. My shelves were painted with the wrong kind of paint which showed marks when anything was set on them. We needed to have subcontractors return to correct unprofessional work. The final straw for me was that I was charged for a balance of over $2500 at the end of the job that was unexpected and no clear explanation was made of why a balance was due. I had worked with the initial Oakwood employee closely to balance out the budget and did not sign a contract until I was sure we were not going over budget. Oakwood says there was some error in the original budget provided by USAA that resulted in me owing money that I made clear to Oakwood from the beginning I could not afford. My USAA claims adjuster said the original budget did not include the component that Oakwood said resulted in a balance due. I had been upfront and honest throughout the process that we needed to keep the repairs within the budget approved by USAA. Oakwood kept saying we needed to come to some type of agreement but they were not willing to do anything on their end except take the full payment. In order to avoid being sent to collections, I was forced to put the balance on my credit card. I am left with a feeling of being taken advantage of. I feel so fortunate that my insurance used Oakwood Construction & Restoration company to repair my house after it was flooded! Brock, the Oakwood Construction Manager, was awesome assigning and scheduling various teams to address water damage, packing and moving furniture out, flooring demo., drywall repairs, installing beautiful new wood floors, baseboards, and seeing that all areas affected were painted and looked pristine. To my surprise, my house was then thoroughly cleaned, promptly followed by the movers returning my furniture. Every job was done to perfection and coordinated so that no time was wasted. Brock was accessible, while keeping me apprised of the status of the repairs every step of the way; and made sure everything went well. I could not be any happier with the outcome and the way my house looks! Wow, thank you Oakwood! What an excellent and professional company!

The moving crew were AWESOME!!! They are unreliable, unprofessional and don't really know what they are doing. I got them through my insurance to rebuild a shower. After I signed the contract, the manager called me to tell me that the project manager assigned to me had had a family emergency. The nightmare started then. Oakwood would re-schedule work, crew came to do what they were not supposed to do or they would no show up at all. Manager would not even apologize and manipulate me with excuses, and nobody was able to supervise. After several attempts to communicate my concerns and requests via e-mail, the manager became very upset. He called me and cancelled the contract over the phone, leaving me with an incomplete job and wrong materials that he had ordered. A couple of days later, workers were showing up to my house without having been informed that the job was stalled.

This summer, we suffered water damage from a leak in a 2nd floor bathroom, and Oakwood Construction was in charge of the repairs and restoration. They fixed the pipes, restored the 1st floor ceiling and wooden floor, and painted. We're very happy with their work. They were professional (punctual, polite, communicative) and did an amazing job. I recommend them 100%. Thank you, Lisa McKinney for putting together a great crew.

We had an internal water leak that impacted 2 bedrooms; flooring, walls, cabinets, closet items, etc. It was a mess. Team Oakwood led initially by Aaron P. then Brock C. were responsive, professional and knowledgeable. As a customer you want people that respond to texts, voicemails and emails; they were on it always never I had to wait.As with any project there are miscues; it is the mark of a team how they respond when faced with these challenges and they handled it perfectly without a delay.I recommend you use them as your restoration team.

Never deal with Oakwood Construction. They will charge outrageous prices for shoddy work. This company came to my home gave me an estimate for the work they said would be done in a decent amount of time bamboozed me into thinking I was going to have my bathroom all restored after a bad leak. Work was never done they would come every day, someone different everyday stay for an hour leave and nothing was done except wrack up a higher bill for my insurance company (FRAUDS)Oakwood has threatened me with a law suit and to put a lien on my home. Be very careful of these crooks.ESPECIALLY JOSE JUAREZ , SHERWOOD COOK AND GREG MILLS They want all my insurance money and THEY DONT CARE IF I AM LEFT WITH NOTHING TO PAY ANOTHER COMPANY TO FINISH THE JOB!T

Do NOT trust this company. My insurance scheduled an inspection through this company and said that I didn't need to be there nor sign anything, so they came while I was at work. My boyfriend let them in and they had him sign a document which they told him was "to prove to the insurance that they showed up." Well it turns out, it was actually a bill agreement without any indication of amount. They tried to bill me $400 dollars for a 10 minute inspection, oh and the first line item on the bill? A $189.10 charge for a phone call during business hours! Yes, that is right. This company is so incredibly immoral they charge nearly $200 for a phone call during business hours that I didn't even make. There's a million construction companies out there, save yourself and don't choose this one.

With a leak on my balcony, my insurance set up Oakwood Construction to tarp it for upcoming rains. The first time out they created a large "sail" that caught the wind and made the sandbags fall off the balcony onto the sidewalk below. They came back and used an additional tarp which was previously used with paint on it. This was supposed to be their best crew. This tarp ripped due to being used. AGAIN sandbags fell off onto the sidewalk below. They promised they would send a crew out again and I would be first stop in the morning at 9am due to the rain. When calling to see where they are, office staff promised they were on their way and would call with an eta. 50 minutes later, still no call no show. Incompetent rude late and dangerous. Do NOT use.
