We are extremely disappointed with the customer service of this company. We wanted an MiniSplit installed in one of our rental units. They tenant was stood up on the initial walk through/they just sent a quote without even seeing the space. The first red flag, we just really loved the Mini split idea & wanted the "rebate." I finally reached out to them to schedule the install weeks after sign up since no one called. The techs did a great job, we were happy with that process. Since then they came up with more charges, permits & inspections, that we were not informed of initially. We sent in our payment once the work was complete. I had to call & tell them they received it, to move forward. I've reached out to see the status of the city inspection with no response. They have a bunch of different numbers, that randomly stop working (the one on our initial quote was shut off right after payment, we thought we were being scammed!). They pass you around on the phone to randoms & "take a message", they are extremely rude, especially the "manager." This company is a mess, they cannot manage the work they already have, have zero people skills, & act like you are the problem after dragging out a project for almost a year, anyone in their right mind would be livid at this point. We have so many contractors that we end up working with for years on all of our units. This company needs to clean house, update their processes & stop leaving money on the table. We cannot wait to be done with them & will be reporting them to the Better Business Burrow & taking further actions if our order is not complete shortly. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. Save yourself the stress & don't deal with this level of unprofessionalism.

Background:I contracted homeupgradespecliasts for a new AC installation. I did my due diligence beforehand and was impressed by how competitive their offer was , on top of the fact that they offered all the top brands. I also wanted to do everything by the code and unlike some other companies they actually encouraged applying for city permits. They filled the applications quickly and from the day I signed the contract till the installation there was only a few days delay.Day of:I wanted to install the AC on the roof so I needed a crane. They scheduled everything. Everyone was on time and everything was schedule to a T. Crane showed up on time, the crew were professional and courteous and everything was finished in just one day!Inspections and rebates:The inspections and rebates is were their customer service really shined. It took a few rounds of scheduling to get the inspector to come to my house and verify everything. It took almost ONE YEAR for my rebate application to get processed. During this time, they were very responsive to my calls and in multiple instances provided and updated the documentation that the city had asked for.5 star customer service here. My only recommendation for the team is monitoring the corp email more frequently. Having said that, my phone calls were always answered promptly!Service: Install AC

We replaced our gas furnace with a Daikin Fit. Excellent service, reasonable prices. All the technicians are friendly and professional. We've had the unit for about 2 months. Love. It. No more blast on and off, the Daikin Fit keeps the air at a fairly consistent temperature. One suggestion: If your current system is stronger in some rooms than others, have dampers put on.

DO NOT USE THEM!!!! They are full time scammers!!!!!! We are in the process of suing them! If you have similar experience, please get in touch with me!We hired Home Upgrade Specialist to install our HVAC system November 022 for over $30,000. One big selling point was their promise of a city rebate up to $6,000...except we never saw the money.We did everything on our end, passing all inspections and fulfilling the contract requirements. But come time for the rebate, Home Upgrade Specialist went radio silent. Repeated calls and emails yielded vague answers and empty promises.Desperate for answers, we contacted the city-approved contractor who handles these rebates, Proctor Engineering. Guess what? They told us Home Upgrade Specialist NEVER submitted our application! Worse, Proctor said they've had issues with this company before and even removed them from their list of approved contractors.So, instead of the promised $6,000, we got crickets. Simon, the owner, offered some personal payment after we posted an online review i return to take down our review, but that offer quickly vanished along with his responsiveness. Now, we're left with a hefty bill and the feeling of being completely misled.If you're considering Home Upgrade Specialist, be warned: their city rebate promises may be smoke and mirrors. Do your research and choose a company with a track record of transparency and honesty. As for us, we're considering legal action to get what we were promised.

One year ago, I hired Home Upgrade Specialist, owned by Simon and Netie, to install a new HVAC system in my home. The sales professional, Tait, was very friendly and persuasive, and he promised me a rebate that the company would take care of. He also assured me that the installation would be done quickly and efficiently.However, my experience with Home Upgrade Specialist was a nightmare. The inspector who came to my home warned me that the electrical work needed to be redone because it was the wrong kind of breakers. This was a major safety hazard, and I was shocked that Home Upgrade Specialist had even attempted to install the system in this way.Once the electrical work was finally fixed, I was told that my inspection had passed and that I would be receiving my rebate. However, the company never filed for the rebate on my behalf, and I have been trying to get them to do so for the past year. I have called and emailed multiple times, but I have either been ignored or given empty promises.In addition, the HVAC system itself had to be serviced within the first 6 months because Home Upgrade Specialist had placed one of the parts in the wrong place. While they did take care of this issue quickly, it is further evidence of the company's incompetence.I would strongly advise anyone considering working with Home Upgrade Specialist to reconsider. The company is unprofessional, unreliable, and incompetent. They put my family's safety at risk, and they have failed to deliver on their promises.I urge Simon and Netie to take a closer look at their business practices and to make some serious changes. They are putting their customers at risk, and they are damaging their reputation.

I had called a different HVAC company to fix my split unit AC, and their technician recommended I throw away my entire system and buy a new one. glad I called Home Upgrade Specialist before I did that... they sent Raymond, who tracked down the problem (it was a tricky one) and got me the parts under warranty (I didn't even know I had a factory warranty). he fixed it right up and saved my unit. thanks guys.Service: A/C system repair

Greg is a very nice guy and told me he adjusted a Ptrap on PVC draining the unit , refilled 1lb of Freon for $200 ( very high !) when the going rate is $50-160 for a pound . He was going to charge me $129 for a summer tuneup visit with no emergency, but last time your service person Andrew came out 9.22.22 the tuneup was just $65 ( double the price ?') so he lowered to $89 . I have stayed loyal to you folks since Covid and may take up your good mini split install estimate . But I won't call again if the tuneup is not $89 or less . I have been hustled by a few other companies ( them wanting to replace a perfectly good top American Standard unit that is longer lasting than the new ones or hosing and cleaning the unit with a hose and charging me $600) all AC. Repair guys rarely have been on my roof for more than 15 minutes . So please be fair going forward.

Taking a moment to thank Home Upgrade and their tech Elia for their excellent service over the years. We first connected through the city of LA AC Optimization program where they came out to our home to check our HVAC system and install a free Nest smart thermostat. Our AC has been perfect since!Our building had the roof replaced so we called them out to check our coolant levels and Sue enough the roof contractors didn’t top off the coolant so Elia covered that too for us and I’ve recommended Home Upgrade Specialists to my neighbors for their needs too. All great reports across the board.Office has always been easy to schedule with and they arrive promptly as scheduled. Great follow up on service and I just got a call from their QA person to check in on the level of service. Nice to find a business that improves with time and is solid across the board! I purchased the 25 point maintenance HVAC inspection service. The tech, Elia was superb. He went the extra mile to deliver excellent customer service. The challenge however is I purchased this HVAC minisplit system from them 2 years ago and it did not require half of those 25 inspection points like the 1 inch filter, gas line inspection etc.So I feel like they overcharged me. Their regular onsite tech visit is 89.00 and I’m going to reach out and request a discount since I did not get the full 25 inspection points service.I think they should have known they were overselling me. Actually I should have know I guess;) I didn’t realize that those inspection points were for central air systems. buyer Beware.I did not buy the Upgrade Club membership for 250.00 however.Service: HVAC system maintenance

I'm so blown away by all the great reviews.Tait came out and provided a thorough inspection of the property and gave me options for an upgraded heating system. He is AMAZING! He is the SOLE reason why I chose HUS (assuming that everyone else would be like him). Tate was super responsive, experienced and communicates very well. He gave meI got estimates from 3 companies. The price was mid-range, so it wasn't a decision made solely on cost, but again, I picked HUS because of the education he gave me and the amazing customer service that he provided.From the estimate to the installation appointment was pretty quick. This is where everything starts to go downhill.- I had to call a week later asking when the balance was due.- I was never told the balance was received- The tech was late the day of the appointment. Arrival window was 10-12pm. I called at 11:45 asking if the tech was en route. He apparently didn't have all the parts he needed and went to the hardware store. Really?!?! He showed up late. I'm pretty sure if my tenant wasn't home to open the door I would have had to reschedule, but HUS showing up late I didn't get any compensation.- The tech did not install the mini-split where Tate had told me it would go. NO ONE called to tell me. I called Tate. Apparently no one told him either?!?!- The install went well past the estimated time of completion, understandably so because the tech arrived late.- The LADBS final inspection was scheduled and we immediately failed because HUS pulled the wrong permit. It's a triplex which is a commercial license, they pulled a residential.- Scheduled w/ LADBS again and again. I asked if they tech needed to be on site. I was told 'no, it's not necessary'- LADBS showed up, and we failed again! Because their tech was not there, in addition to 5 other violations. Maybe my expectation are high, but hiring a company with amazing reviews and licensed, I would expect that they know what they are doing and pull the correct permits.- The work was done 10/24. It's now 1/31 and we are still screwing around with the inspection and now around of repairs because it wasn't done correctly.- I had to ask for a final paid invoice. I received an invoice with absolution no content and just a $0 balance owed. I really question how professional they are??? The people are on the phone have been nice, but concisely ignoring my request to be compensated for their lack of knowledge, professionalism and wasting my time and my tenant's time. It's really frustrating that I'm still dealing with this 3 months later. And how know who much longer this will last......- I constantly have to follow-up with them too.I hope HUS knows how lucky they are to have Tait and I do hope they get their act together. Maybe I'm just the unfortunate one to get such bad service, but it's getting tiresome and annoying to pay so much money to get such poor service, poor communication and follow-up and lack of knowledge regarding a simple mini-split install and permit pulling.Services: Installation, Heating system installation

I called Home upgrade specialist to get the LADWP AC Optimization program done at my house, someone on Nextdoor app was happy with their service and they were highly recommended.The specialist Sam came right on time. He was very professional and even wore shoe covers every time he came inside the house.He checked the unit outside, check the attic, change the filter, check temperatures and as part of the program, replaced my thermostat with the nest.I was skeptical and thought they might want to sell me something else, but to my surprise, there was nothing more to it. A happy customer.

I recently had an issue with my central air unit not cooling my condo. I found their profile on Yelp, while doing a search. Karen was quick to respond to my request for a quote, and was able to get me an appointment with a technician the next day. Greg was our technician, he was so friendly and professional, and arrived on time. Greg was wonderful. He was so knowledgeable and helpful. He took the time to explain everything to me, and I must say that I learned a lot in such a short time. It turned out to be an issue with Freon, my unit was empty. He made an appt with me to return the next day, to make sure that it wasn’t leaking Freon. No leak, and the A/C is running very well. I will be contacting the company in a couple of months regarding the LADWP Optimization program that he suggested to me. The price was really reasonable. I’m very happy with the service and will be continuing with them for any future HVAC needs. Thank you!!

What a great and professional company! I called Simon at Home Upgrade Specialist for an estimate for my heating and air systrm replacement. Simon was by far the most honest, professional and nicest person i interviewed.I end up doing the replacement with them and everything was very smooth and up to the schedule Simon provided me. Also they installed a nest thermostat with no additional cost! After the great delivery Nitai came to inspect my system and also came to provide me with some information for my windows and exterior paint. I learn a lot about those products and decided to go ahead and upgrade both!We replaced 16 windows and 2 sliding door and they apply cool wall material on my exterior house. The house look gorgeous! Thank you Simon and Nitai! I highly recommend Home Upgrade Specialist to all of my friendsand family!

I have two split system units that needed service and one had a freon leak.they came and serviced both machines, refilled the freon, fixed the leaks, changed the filters and installed two new Nest thermostats and all of this was FREE. Yes not one red cent. They did this all under an Ladwp program and there was no hidden charges or anything. Extremely pleased with this company
