Great place for lunch. They have indoor and outdoor seating (we sat outdoors and it's a nice setting). We started with the brussel sprouts which had cranberries, nuts, bacon and what I assume was kale. Super delicious! Then we split an order of fish tacos and the sidewinder burger with garlic fries. The fries were nice and crispy, perhaps the best I've had. We were warned the ghost pepper jack on the burger was very spicy hot and it was, but totally doable. The burger was really good. Fish tacos are also out of this world. I sound like a broken record, but everything was 100% top notch including the service. Make a point of visiting this place!

This summer we had our wedding reception at the Cutthroat and it was the best decision we made!! The food was incredible and many of my guests told me it was the best wedding food they'd ever had! The service was absolutely amazing, even while they are dealing with low staffing, they did everything in their power to make sure we had the best wedding and my friends and family continually mentioned how friendly and kind everyone was. Travis the manager was so helpful during the planning process and made sure we were completely satisfied and happy all night long. And I can't forget to mention their amazing beer selection! My family and I camp at Grover Hot Springs State Park every summer and our favorite spot in Markleeville has always been Cutthroat. Now it has an even more special place in our hearts. If you're passing through or even remotely close to Markleeville you gotta stop in!

This is one of those gems people will talk about. Markleville is where ??? I hope it stays that way selfishly. However, this place commands respect. This isn't just some brewery with hotdogs and fried mozzarella sticks. The menu is simple but offers something for everyone. The people put heart and soul into everything. Beer is really good, while the food will leave you licking your dish. If your visiting South Lake Tahoe, yes, this is worth the small detour 💯. If your heading over the pass to the 395, stop and enjoy this gem before you head off to paradise.

A spur of the moment stop in Markleeville for food. What a surprise, staff was attentive the moment we walked in the door. We were seated right away. Restaurant was clean, and well lit. The menu consisted of various options. Our drinks were brought to the table right away. We ordered the cheese curds as an appetizer and they didn’t disappoint. For our main dish we shared the trituro nachos and a bowl of their chili made with ground elk meat. Both were very good! The brewery had a good selection of their own and local drafts as well as some popular draft beers. I would definitely eat here again. Nice find on a road trip!

We’ve been here twice, and traveled over an hour to get here each time. It’s amazing, and we love this tiny town! Beer cheese fries were FANTASTIC. Good portions, service was super friendly, and even though they forgot an item we ordered, like, we didn’t even care. They’re just so nice! And an aside, bathrooms are a bit small and I’m certain the people sitting outside the door can hear everything. 🤣 But a great place nonetheless!

Wonderful place! I highly recommend the elk chili. Next time I'll just have a large bowl of the chili and a side. It's absolutely delicious! It'll be awesome on a crisp fall day.Dietary restrictions: Was able to accommodate gluten and dairy-free diet

We really enjoyed the food and beer here. The Cutthroat IPA was a solid Wes Coast IPA. The guest taps had some great local(ish) stuff available. The food was super good as well. We got the Pretzel, the Pickles, the Curds , Mahi Tacos, Fish & Chips and a Pulled Pork sandwich. Everyone really enjoyed their food. I definitely recommend making a stop here.

A really nice brewpub. Good beer menu and lots of choices on the menu. The fish tacos are excellent, as are the fish and chips. It's a very quaint and historic building with lots of nice decor. The staff is very friendly, helpful, and courteous... especially Stephanie. Great place to stop when in Markeliville!

If you are in the area, take a break and have a meal or drinks at the Cutthroat Brewing Company in Markleeville. Great beer I hear! The Drunken Pig was an excellent bar b que sandwich. In winter it is very cozy inside. Warm weather, the outdoor dining is wonderful, especially with the live music. Any time of year, a throughly enjoyable experience!

What a difference a change of ownership can do. I've been eating here for years and the food and service was always pretty good. The place changed ownership a couple of times and prior to the current owner the place went totally downhill. They even changed the name from the Cutthroat to the Wolf Creek Inn (or something like that) Then a couple of years ago they sold it and the new owners fixed everything that was wrong with the place. While staying next door at the Creekside Lodge the other night, my wife and I stopped by the Cutthroat and were very impressed with the food. Our server, I think her name was Laila, was friendly and on top of her game.

Ate here for the first time and it was awesome. Great atmosphere and delicious food. I had the fish and chips and we will definitely come back. Please support Markleeville and all local businesses impacted by the Tamarack Fire.

Went in for the father's day BBQ platter. Food was good, but the meat was dry. Felt that the meat had all been predone and just warmed up. Once I bit into the corn on the cob my suspicions were confirmed. Corn cob was mushy and definitely sub-par. Definitely didn't feel it was worth the money. Saying that. If everything was fresh it would've definitely been worth the price. We still love you guys and will be back. This was our first disappointment.

Ok so we love camping outside town and this is the spot to stop in town believe me. There is a dog friendly patio and the food and drinks here are to die for. It will be a tad on the pricey side but we'll worth it. Also you can get food for your dog on you dog menu. If your on the 89 be sure to stop here.

Wonderful rustic setting, excellent food & they had a fabulous musician (Beans) playing. Everyone treats you like family here and it’s a great experience. This place is a hidden gem in the beautiful California Alpines! We should definitely be supporting our local businesses especially because everyone was hit so hard by the fires last year. It’s still beautiful up here in many spots despite the Tamarack Fire and the little town of Markleevile is still gorgeous. Highly recommend Cutthroat Brewing Company! 👍

Absolutely the best service we've ever received! We were hungry and coming through town but we had our dog Sofia. We figured we could grab something for outside. Surprisingly we were welcomed in with dog. On top of bringing us waters a water bowl was also brought for Sofia. And then to my complete amazement! Just like a section for kids on the menu, there was a section for dogs. Sofia had the doggie Patty. The whole time we all were treated the best. We all left fat and happy and we're all looking forward to coming back.A little time has passed and now Cutthroat has become one of our favorite stops. The dog section is no longer on the menu but Sofia's favorite, the doggie patty is still listed. We're lucky to have such an amazing stop during our adventures.

This place is GOOD!! Best fries I've ever had! Fish tacos, salads, pizzas, fish and chips all delicious! My favorite has to be the Oreo Mud Pie in the mason jar. Service is always great. Such friendly staff. Today was a busy day for them, and they may be short staffed like so many others. It took awhile to get our food but we didn't care. Having patience and being understanding goes a long way and it was worth the wait. The food is GREAT and my family and I love this place.
