I called Jose Mendoza Roofing due to a tree service i had hired. The tree service used my roof for a landing pad for tree limbs with up to 7 workers on the roof. The tree service punctured holes in the roof and allowed a large section if the tree trunk to fall onto the roof causing severe damage to roof structureJose quickly returned my call and scheduled next day to stop by. Jose had a quote for the repair and for reroofing prepared within a couple of days. Jose quote was more than reasonable for damage repair and reroofing. Other roofing contractors in the area had quoted higher prices for the same workI chose Jose, first of all he was well mannered, confident about correctly doing the work and he answered all my questions. Jose started and finished the job in the time frame he had said he would Jose and his crew were very professional from start to finish. Jose was quick to respond to my text messages. I need to say that other roofing jobs i have had done for work and myself i was never asked what color of material i would like. Cleanliness was superb (5/5), care and protection of the property was fantastic (5/5), willingness to do rare work (standing seam metal roof, removal of chimney) was amazing (6/5). Communication required some nagging (3/5) and work took significantly longer than expected (4/5) with around a 10% cost increase (4/5). Sun tunnels/solar tubes were originally installed with incorrect roof location and then relocated promptly (4/5) and some fascia was not fully painted (4/5) - minor oversights. The team was friendly and approachable (bilingual, too!), the work looks great, and it was clear they took care and pride in their efforts, never rushing or cutting corners. The estimation process was quick and easy with Jose, he had the estimate ready within a few days. His prices were very competitive and I called him to ask a few questions to ensure I was doing a fair comparison between companies.The permit process was smooth and easy and he was ready to install the roof when I was.We needed some small adjustments to the items on the roof to ensure nothing conflicted with the solar install. Update: Unfortunately, in the latest rain I discovered a problem that I thought Jose repaired. During the original roofing, they failed to control the debris well -- a bunch landed in my fireplace, and a bunch landed in the gutters and downspout. They came back to unclog the downspout once, but during the latest rain the downspout started to overflow again. When I went to look, the pipe was filled with roofing material.-----Jose replaced my roof in SF. He was professional, and knew what he was doing. For example, my roof had a flatter portion that originally had shingles on it, but he knew that it was too shallow for shingles and used a more appropriate covering for it.The cost was very reasonable, especially considering how much work there was.

I don't know anything about building a new roof and I was wary about making such a large investment.Thank God I found Jose and his team! They were wonderful in every way. Jose is a true professional, showing up on time, staying in communication by text, sticking to his original quote, and explaining the ins and outs of roofing. He even sent me a drone photo to show the progress of the main roof.Jose is bilingual so discussing things with him is easy, whether you speak spanish or english. This company was recommended by different company who I was considering for solar panel installation because of the quality of their work, reliability, and availability. I called references and felt comfortable using them to replace my roof. Jose provided samples to choose from for a reasonable price.He easily got a permit in my city where he had not had any previous jobs.His crew were on time, professional, and efficient. There were a couple days when I was worried because it was really hot outside, but they worked to complete it. There was a lag to get the final inspection but I believe it took a while from the City department to schedule. They cleaned up around the house at the beginning and the end. Overall, I had a positive experience and I would recommend them.Jose cares is family oriented and cares for his crew.

Jose replaced my roof about a year ago so now a full year later, after a winter of non-stop storms-no problems!New gutters including gutter screens. His bid was competitive, it included work to repair some damaged trim boards. And I was pleased with his reasonable add-on price for repairs discovered after tear off.

I shopped around for a roofer and found Mendoza through a personal recommendation. The number one thing that set Mendoza apart was how responsive Jose was on basically everything. It was easy getting time to have him do an initial visit and estimate, work up a bid, and ultimately, getting the job done.After he and his guys replaced my roof, I had a solar company install solar panels. And then it rained. And there was water pouring down through one of lights in our ceiling.Jose came out the next day to check it out. We found that the solar company installers had drilled holes in the roof that they failed to patch over. There were a dozen freshly drilled holes. Unbelievable.Jose patched up all the holes left by the solar guys (the solar company compensated him). His guys did a super thorough job fixing the mistakes made by the solar company.And then more rain storms came. And more storms.I was so thankful that Jose was so incredibly responsive and did such high quality work.I feel really fortunate to have found Mendoza Roofing. Excellent quality work; a family run business and the crew worked well together - and did a few extras like touchup painting up top where I had wanted to get to for years. Two issues we worked through - the city where I live has a very unclear permit process for roofs, and it was difficult for a contractor who had not worked there before to understand the inspection procedure, but Jose figured it out and the inspector complimented his work. One point - the contract did not explain that there would be an extra charge if more than one layer of modified bitumen had to be torn off - and there turned out to be three, not one, and the price went up. But I quickly realized that is because it was a lot more work to tear off and dispose of 3 layers than one.
