I have been very happy with the quality of work done by Armstrong Builders. Tom Armstrong has a very creative and exacting eye for all of the work that he and his crew handle. I like his design style and approach. He usually has fresher and better ideas than I have for how things should look and how to approach the overall designI am a repeat customer and have used Tom for numerous small projects, a remodel of my home, and also the design and construction of several large 4-unit complexes. Rick is meticulous and Tom has "an eye as good as a level” to make sure that the work not only is right but looks right as well.Tom seldom is the lowest bidder or highest builder, but his work and follow-through have been excellent. I have always felt that I got everything that I paid for and more. While he seems always to be busy, he gets back to me quickly on any issues that I have.

I am a subcontractor for Armstrong Builders and have worked on many of their projects in the San Diego area. Tom is a great guy to work with. The job sites are always well managed and kept secure and clean thus making my work more productive and enjoyable. I am the leader at a elementary academy with an emphasis in the performing arts. When my school wanted to add a theatre and stage to its space during the summer of 2013, Armstrong Builders was suggested to conceptualize, facilitate and complete the job. Tom Armstrong presented a number of exciting and prospective options (which included a backstage area, storage for large set pieces and two dressing rooms) and he was very knowledgeable about building the structure to code with consideration that it would be used by young students. I was thoroughly impressed with Tom's professionalism and the crews' efficiency. Armstrong Builder's agreed to work within my budget and honored my desired timeline. This past fall, I had the opportunity to direct a student play on our brand new stage and the students were so excited! Thanks to Armstrong Builders, they were able to have a real theatre experience and enjoyed every minute of it!

In 2009, we bought a condo built by Armstrong Builders Inc in 2005 in Pacific Beach San Diego. Every inspector and appraiser that viewed our property assured us that the quality of construction was outstanding. Even the carpet cleaners that came before we moved in were aware of Armstrong Builders and assured us that their quality of work was well respected in the area. 5 years later, we decided to sell our condo due to the market bouncing back and to relocate closer to work. Again, the inspectors and appraisers were very satisfied that they didn't find any deficiencies and were able to tell the buyers of our property that they would not need to be concerned about the quality of the construction on our place. Now that we sold our condo within a week of putting it on the market, we started the search for a new property. Armstrong Builders Inc was the first place we called to help us asses the properties we were interested in and give us ideas on what it would take to either rebuild or remodel. We didn't know after making that call, that Tom Armstrong would devote the next few months to searching for properties with us and coaching us through the process. This is only our second place we have ever attempted to purchase, so we were not comfortable looking at houses built in the 1940's that needed a lot of work. However, Tom thoroughly explained ways to envision the potential of each property. We are not investors or millionaires, and he never hesitated to offer advice on ways to better manage our budget, pursue loans, and make creative offers. He is the expert in this arena, with the experience and network of people to handle any situation we threw at him. Tom has gone as far as drawing up plans, providing detailed cost breakdowns of construction projects, recommended trusted lenders and real estate attorneys, and spent countless hours viewing properties with us on moments notice. Tom's passion for his work and his desire to help my family, whom he just recently met, has convinced me that there is no need to look elsewhere when it comes to any construction or remodeling project. All of his quotes have been very comparable with competitors. Having lived in one of his condos for 5 years, and listened to other experts in the field comment on the quality of work by Armstrong Builders Inc, I am 100% confident that we will have the attention to detail applied to any project we pursue with them in the future. On top of all that, Tom is such a likable person, that he has become a friend, and we are looking forward to having his family over to personally thank them for putting up with us and the amount of time we asked of him. In 1997, we met Tom and received a quote to remodel our home. His ideas were much to our liking, and the other bids were not even considered. Rick and crew did a fabulous job...attention to all details.. The remodeled part of the home was a show piece.In 2001, Armstrong was the contractor on five homes in LaJolla. We went out to the job site a number of times, and decided to take one of the homes. We were able to incorporate a number of Tom's ideas into this home as well. We have just completed a remodel of the master bedroom and bath, along with the remodel of an additional full bath. We also installed dual glazed windows throughout our entire residence, with exterior stucco to repair the window areas. We couldn't be more satisfied with all of the work provided by Tom Armstrong. The new living areas are beautiful, far exceeding our expectations of what could be done in the limited space we started with.Tom's designs have provided us with additional space in the master bedroom, a wonderful master bath with dual sinks and vanities, a walk in closet with a closet organizer, and a beautiful guest bath. He designed both of the baths, including the walk in shower in the master bath, and tub area in the guest bath, both with glass enclosures.Tom was attentive to our needs and life style in providing us with floor plans, even moving a window to provide more furniture space and a better view. He put so much thought into our job, meeting with us, providing many different floor plans before we finally made a decision and were ready to proceed with the job. We never felt rushed or pressured to make a decision, and really appreciated his patience.Tom and Rick, his Foreman, constantly monitor all work done, down to the last detail. They insist on quality work from all of the workmen. In fact, when we did have concerns, my husband and I would say to each other, "It doesn't matter, Tom or Rick will take care of it." They did take care of everything, without fail, making the remodeling process stress free. We are familiar with building and remodeling, as we have done both in the past, and this was the first "stress free" job we have ever been involved in. Thank you Tom and Rick, and all who worked with you.We now have a bedroom that, with a few minor changes feels much larger, even though we have more furniture in it. We absolutely love the master bath and walk in closet. Somehow Tom thought of everything we needed in this area, with lots of extras including special features in the cabinets and shower. The same is true of our guest bath. Now that the job is finished, there isn't one thing we would change.If you are planning on building or doing any remodeling, you can be confident you will get a job well done with Tom, at Armstrong Builders. He will provide everything you need, from the original design and plans, through the completed job, with honesty and integrity.

Tom always builds the highest quality product with tremendous attention to detail. Another of his outstanding projects is on the SE corner of Cass and Sapphire St. Rather than have someone tell you go and see quality for yourself!!!

Tom is the most dedicated and best builder I have ever worked with. We were considering having him remodel a previous house. As we discussed it we indicated that while remodeling was OK< we really wanted to find a way to get into a nice home in a different area. Knowing the area, Tom identified a property that was on sale. While looking at the property he struck up a conversation with the tenant of a virtual tear down next door who indicated his owners might sell. Tom helped us locate the owners and within days we got a fantastic deal to buy the property.The remodel had its own challenges according to zoning and permits and we really needed to live there while the construction was going on around us. In short, for a builder, we had made this a nightmare project. We cm under fire from neighbors who tried to exert pressure on the local architectural committee who had the power to shut us down. Tom befriended them and got them to approve a design which they could have easily rejected. One time they showed up on the construction site. I was annoyed they were doing an inspection and a little worried--not a one of them was under 80--I was concerned about letting them on, so I stupidly said they could not. They packed up and said, "ok we'll shut you down." Fortunately Tom was right there to take them in and smooth over the mess I created.Tom worked hard and personally and built one of the most beautiful La Jolla coastline homes you could imagine. Years later we sold that house for a very large gain, all of which we owe to Tom really. He put up with my panic attacks, he sought to understand my concerns and addressed them. I had thought after how difficult I was he would never want to work with me again. But he takes it all in stride and just viewed that as part of what he has to put up with. I consider him a great friend and one of the true heroes in my life. His architectural acumen, integrity, responsibility and building workmanship really combine into one very very competent firm that can handle all planning and building needs. And his ability to get along with people plays an absolutely crucial role in those moments when you need it most.
