This is probably the worst home depot I have ever seen! When I was about to come out of the loading zone with a load of goods, I found that the passage was closed. I asked the guy wearing home depot clothes if he could open the lock and let me pass. He actually pretended not to hear me and ignored me. I had to go around in a circle. You will know how desperate you are when you push hundreds of pounds of goods!

I recently purchased a generator from your online store with my Home Depot consumer credit card on 3/17 for pickup at your Genesee store located in San Diego, CA. A couple of days later I realized that the power that the generator is rated for would not be enough for the job I needed it for. Unfortunately, due to the COVID outbreak, I was afraid to return it to the store and followed the stay at home protocol ordered for California. I was hoping to return it to the store once our COVID numbers in San Diego were starting to go down and the stay at home order was lifted. I called the store and was told that they were extending their return policy because of COVID which was very nice to hear! Now that things are starting to open back up in San Diego and I feel more comfortable to go out in public while keeping social distancing and wearing a mask, I took the generator back into the store for a return and for the money to go back into my Home Depot credit card on 6/23. Mind you, I was laid off from my job because of COVID and don’t have the money to pay for a generator that will not be sufficient for the job I bought it for. While entering the store, I was delighted to see a sign that said that they were extending the return policy to 180 days. I went to the customer service desk and I spoke with the assistant store manager Grecia and told her my situation and why I wasn’t able to return the generator back to the store because of COVID concerns. With no understanding or empathy for my situation, she informed me that the extended return period did not apply to me because I was trying to return a generator and the return window was still only 30 days. The generator was NEVER opened. The box was never opened. It was still sealed from the factory and still is. With no empathy she told me “too bad”. During this time, another employee had taken the generator into the back and had already checked it in for a return. They couldn’t find the generator and I was stuck standing at customer service for over an hour waiting for them to find it so that I could take it back and take it home. During my time waiting, I asked how long it would take and she replied “it will take as long as it takes” with a nasty attitude. They finally found the generator and I took it and left after standing there for over an hour. I am very upset about this terrible customer service. This is no way to treat a loyal customer of Home Depot during this COVID crisis. Can you please tell me what you can do to resolve this issue?
