Grace Harbor Women’s Center chose Shelton roofing for their multi-million dollar project. The building was finished around 1931, so needless to say, much work needed to be done. We chose Shelton roofing and we were extremely grateful for their hard work and attention to detail. Brad, the owner, even upgraded the roof for us. All of their employees were incredibly professional and took the time to train some of our students on installation. We will choose Shelton roofing again if ever needed on another one of our projects. Thank you Shelton Roofing.Services: Gutter repairs, Skylight repair, Roof repair for storm & wind damage, Gutter installation, Roof inspection, Attic venting, Roof repair, Skylight installation, Roof installation

We were having problems with roof leaks in two specific locations. Shelton Roofing came out and inspected the areas and diagnosed the problem as happening because of wind driven rain. They were able to make improvements that have eliminated our problems. Their work was of the highest quality and was completed right away. They were good at communicating what needed to be done and what the cost would be. I was most impressed by their honesty and willingness to make sure I knew what needed to be done and the price was more than competitive. If you use this company I am sure you will be happy with them as people and especially their work.Service: Roof repair

Shelton Roofing is on the ball. Their Team is great to work with and they get the job done, right. I appreciate their great customer service from start to finish & to all parties including Owner, Property Manager and Tenant. Shelton Roofing will always be my 1st call. One Note to Property Owners & Tenants: Roof repairs are tricky, and happen at the worst times possible, usually. Do your best as the Property Owner/Tenant to be realistic about time frames on repairs - - you do not have the only roof in town that has a leak. It will get fixed, it always does, Onward!Services: Roof repair for storm & wind damage, Roof inspection, Roof repair

Shelton Roofing did a roofing in 2006 and we where pleased with their work. But when our had a leak last year it was a different outcome. We had to wait approximately 3 or 4 weeks, When the workman came the did not repair it the first time and I had to call them back to try to repair the work of which they did. It the mean time they broke the faucet and I notified them of the problem with no answer. I had our gardener repair it. Also, I asked for a breakdown of the repair and no answer. Well they will not be doing the reroofing repair and I will contact some else to do the job.Services: Roof repair for storm & wind damage, Roof repair

I found Shelton Roofing to be unprofessional, extremely unreliable, uncommunicative, and dishonest. They also seem to have neither the time nor the know-how to repair a roof correctly.I have a 30-ish year old metal roof that needs repair. I signed a contract with Shelton Roofing in August to paint the roof and do repairs: remove/replace/seal fasteners, and apply liquid flashing to any gaps and seams.Initially after the contract was signed, I had a hard time connecting with anyone about questions I had abut my project. I called and left messages for Brad (the owner) or Mario (the project manager). I needed more information about the coating they were going to use on the metal roof. My calls/emails were never returned by either of them. Brad sent me an email with the info about the coating at the end of September (the 20th). We locked in the material a few weeks later.Once scheduled, my job was "bumped" a few times. The receptionist called to tell me my job was being rescheduled for various reasons. One time she explained that repairs are not given the same priority that re-roof jobs are; they work repair jobs around re-roofs. Ok, I get that. Then, she called to say a job they were already on took longer than they anticipated. Bump. By the end of October, bad weather/rain started. Bump.Brad emailed me October 28th saying, "sorry, it's too late in the season now to apply the coating." However, he promised to "screw in and seal all of the screws." I replied, saying I was fine with the coating being done later (in the summer or whatever), but wanted the repairs outlined in the contract to be done. He never wrote back. Another bad feeling.A few weeks later, I got a call from the receptionist: "the guys are on the way now to get you watertight for winter." Great!Would you believe nobody showed up!?! NOBODY SHOWED UP!!I was incredulous. I just couldn't believe it.When I let the receptionist know nobody ever came, she said "well, I don't know what happened, but I'm sending someone up there now." At this point, I was so uneasy, I thought I'd better go up there and make sure. When I got there, I could not believe my eyes. A man was on the ROOF OF OUR GUEST HOUSE (not the roof we had contracted work on, AT ALL) just globbing caulk on every fastener. Even if he had been on the correct roof... fasteners were not being tightened, replaced, sealed correctly, and no other repairs were being made. But he was on the WRONG ROOF. Can you imagine if he had been on a neighbor's roof? Ugh!He got Mario, the foreman, on the phone. I told him the worker was on the wrong roof, glopping ridiculous amounts of caulk on the fasteners, and not doing the repairs correctly. Mario apologized for the mix up and all the delays. He said they had been short staffed. He then said, "Listen, I will come there Monday, I will bring a copy of the contract, and we will go over the repairs together and I will oversee the work myself." I told him that would make me a lot more comfortable, and agreed to meet him Monday.Well... Monday, as I am getting in the car to meet him, he calls. He said he and Brad looked at pictures of what the worker had done (see below, I could have done better myself) and they felt that was all they intended to do to get me "watertight for winter" and they would do the actual repairs "later." He said that if I was not okay with that, I could cancel my contract. I asked if they would be returning my $1000 deposit, and he said "yes."By this time, I did not trust them at all. I did not trust I would not be bumped into infinity, I did not trust they would do a good job, I did not trust them to communicate well. I Just wanted to end things at this point, and canceled the contract. If you've read this far (lol) I am sure you would not be surprised to learn they never returned our deposit, and have ignored all requests for it.I was so surprised by this experience. I thought Shelton Roofing had a good reputation. This experience was a nightmare. There are a lot of good roofing companies in Santa Cruz. This one isn't it. Keep looking.Service: Roof repair

They did a great job replacing the roof on our home. Communication was excellant and everything was done as scheduled. They even lowered the price because the materials ended up costing less. Nice to work with an honest and professional company.Service: Roof installation
