My experience with Derringer & Sons was very smooth and the delivered a great product. They far exceeded my expectations. I've worked with the trades a lot in my life on many projects. I knew finding talent in the SLV would be challenging. Nevertheless, I got referred to the Derringers via a local real estate agent. They didn't have much of an online presence (3/4 months ago) so I old school checked references. They all checked out. I decided to roll the dice and give them a chance to build my vacation property. I'm glad I did. Joe is highly knowledgeable and honest. His son Andrew is my PM and is a great communicator. If I could get people building software for me to PM and communicate this well would make me happy. They bid very competitively on price (which can be a red flag), they also quoted a very short timeline (again, this can be a red flag) but they have stayed on budget and wait for it, ahead of schedule. In 2.5 months they built my vacation property. I'm very happy and hope to do more projects with them and I can't recommend them enough.

In July of 2023, I hired Derringer to build a complete home for me. Needless to say, I was completely excited about the project. Unfortunately, that excitement was short-lived for the following reasons:1. They claimed the bid didn’t include exterior paint. They offered to paint it for an extra $4,000.2. I texted the Project Manager a simple question on a Saturday and he replied that he doesn’t work on weekends.3. There was no port-o-potty. So, the guys were urinating all over my yard.4. They were smoking marijuana while building my house.5. They wouldn’t pay to have a dumpster brought in to remove the trash.6. The contractors had very little/no experience building houses.7. They proposed custom cabinets & countertops even though the Project Manager had zero experience doing this. He didn’t even own the tools to do this.8. I got stuck filing all the building permits. Due to a miscommunication, I got stuck spending $167 on a plumbing permit that I didn’t even need.9. The location of the bathroom sink drain was put in the wrong place.10. The parking spot for my camper wasn't put in along the driveway as I requested.These are facts!Given ALL of these red flags, I ended up terminating the contract before the house was completed. Quite simply, I wasn’t confident that they were able to complete a quality home for me.I would NOT recommend Derringer & Sons Construction to my friends or family members!
