Jacob built this off-grid solar home for us, located in the high mountains of Boulder County. His talent as a meticulous, knowledgeable, and creative craftsman is nothing short of amazing. We could not be happier with his work. His problem solving abilities were also key to the success of this beautiful project due to the many evolving challenges posed by Boulder County building regulations and land-use rules, especially with respect to building codes and fire-mitigation. As one would expect, a totally off-grid solar home that functions as well as a home connected to the electricity grid poses numerous challenges of its own. Jacob built us a house that is extremely tight and energy efficient, helping to reduce electrical loads required for heating. He has been instrumental in working with his subcontractors to make sure all of the various systems (solar, back-up generation, HVAC and other electrical loads, plumbing, etc.) are designed holistically and work together properly. The gasoline-powered back-up generator is seldom used. We are very impressed with his attention to detail, and his ability to find subcontractors who share this attribute. We are particularly impressed with his customer service mannerisms and the way he responds to issues that typically crop up from time to time in any construction project. He shows true dedication to his work and toward his customers. As a result, we have a beautiful, showcase custom home with incredible views that is very comfortable and enjoyable to live in. If there was a way to give him more stars in this review, we would do so.

Jacob was the perfect general contractor for our home in the mountains. He and his team had both the attention to detail and the schedule consciousness we were looking for to get our place done in a timely manner, with very high quality finishes and at a reasonable cost. Jacob is honest and will always give you a realistic assessment of where things are, even when there are issues. Building in Boulder County can be challenging but Jacob minimizes the pain!

Neathawk Building did a whole house renovation for us over the course of a few months (well within the expected timeline considering the amount of work needed). Jacob and all of his associated subcontractors were excellent. He helped us with many large design and material decisions, did meticulous work that we now get to appreciate everyday, and was extremely professional throughout with clear communication. We since re-hired Jacob to do smaller projects like addition of a bathroom, installation of complex shelving, and custom carpentry. As expected, the finished work has been top-notch, and we have since recommended Jacob to several others who have asked us about our home. We'll continue to use these guys and will continue to recommend them.

Neathawk Building and Jacob were great to work with start to finish of project. Jacob and team built a front porch cover attached to our house along with creating a new concrete landing and walkway layout (structure build, concrete work, roofing, gutters and interior foyer re-configuration). Could not be happier with the outcome. Jacob was on-site every day to ensure planning and building were on track (including in bad winter weather). Highly recommend his services.

I have used Jacob for two projects, one a whole-house remodel, and a smaller structural project. He has done excellent work. I have been involved in several other substantial projects in the past (new construction, renovations), and a few things stood out with Jacob. With larger contractors overseeing multiple projects, there is a tendency to have many idle days at a project site, as the contractor can't attend to every client simultaneously, and they have to shuffle subs to the highest priority problems. With Jacob, his focus was on my project, and I felt like I could always reach him and get quick answers to my questions, and there were very few idle days at the job site. He had high quality subs, and they showed up when they were supposed to. I would highly recommend Neathawk Building.

Jacob is a creative problem solver and is very skilled. He's efficient, timely and does quality work. He recently replaced a very large cross beam on our porch roof and the job was done seamlessly. I would absolutely hire him again for work at our house.

A number of years ago Jacob built a home office over our existing garage. More recently we asked him to demolish and rebuild an overhang for a bay window at the dining room. In both cases the quality of work and attention to detail was excellent. We will not hesitate to use him for future work.

Jacob does amazing, meticulous, detail-oriented work. He just put in a new back deck on our 30-year-old house, and we couldn't be happier, from his guidance selecting materials, to his staying within the estimate, to finishing the project in a timely and professional manner.
