Overall we had a great experience with Better Built Basements. Their communication was quick and they followed up with a site visit and corresponding quote. We came in at the budget we discussed at the beginning. The workers who were here everyday were great. We finished the project about two weeks early and we love the finished space. Our project manager Jake was wonderful and Kaitlyn in the office was always easy to get in touch with. 5 stars for professionalism and the staff!The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 were due to things we felt weren't communicated to us at the beginning stages. We had to set aside a closet next to the new bathroom in the basement for a pump. We didn't really question the placement of the closet as we assumed the pump was definitely needed. After demo we were told we didn't need the pump which was great but ultimately left us with an unfinished closet sitting in our main space. I wish we had discussed locations or other plans at the beginning in the event the pump wasn't needed to put that square footage to good use. Maybe there wouldn't have been a Plan B but it wasn't ever a conversation that was had. We also didn't realize that drywall wasn't going to be put up on the backside of walls that were in our unfinished space without an extra cost (so the insulation is all exposed). So just a note to anyone else who is a first time renovator to discuss some of the "unseen" projects in advance in case there are other ways to use the space or things you want to include at the beginning. Overall though, I'd highly recommend them and would use them again.

Better Built has hands down been the best contracting company I’ve ever worked with. Their communication was clear and regular and someone was available to answer any questions I had. Their work is quality and the project flew by. We are obsessed with our new basement built in May 2023. I was so impressed with the timeliness and cleanliness of the contractors during the process of our new basement being built. We had a newborn baby at the time... literally 3 weeks old and the contractors would show up on time, were courteous, efficient and friendly. I also worked with this company on some "smaller" jobs around my house and had the same results as our major project of renovating our basement - efficient, neat, and great quality work. This company also came in with the best price but the quality is great! They can handle anything so anytime we have a project to be done I just reach out to them! Thank you!!

BBB took our basement from studs to beautifully finished in five weeks. The complete transformation not only added comfortable, insulated useable space to our home, but certainly increased the financial value. We had received quotes from other vendors, and Jim landed in the middle. We selected him and his team given their expertise and professionalism. We appreciated their communication, timeliness, and "best practice" advice throughout the process. They used project plans, formal sign-offs, and proactive phone calls to demonstrate their planning & communication ability. Jim & Jake balanced our vision for the space with our budget constraints, and frequently consulted with us on the process. At the same time, his crew came and moved expeditiously (and safely during Covid) to minimize the disruption we had day-to-day. The end result has been a beautiful, bright, contemporary space that feels secure and well-insulated. Jim helped us to maximize our floor plan to include a small gym, play area, living room, office, and closet space. Highly recommend going with this team for a worry-free and no-regret upgrade. We had a wonderful experience working with Better Built Basements for our basement project. From the beginning, Jim and Kaitlyn met with my wife and I to discuss our ideas to finish approximately 700 square feet of raw, unfinished space. This project would require framing, electrical, heating, insulation, drywall, trim, paint, lighting, windows, doors, flooring, new stairs – basically everything to make our basement become a seamless extension of the rest of our home; and that’s what BBB delivered! They were able to help us transform our concept into reality, offering scaled options at various price points, ensuring that we were able to keep the space we conceptualized, within a budget that worked for us. When it came to the work, the crews were fast, efficient, neat, and thorough! The project started in a timely manner, stayed on schedule, and actually finished ahead of schedule. The Project Manager was present, knowledgeable, and receptive to any questions or concerns that we may have had along the way. I hired BBB to finish my basement. The project took exactly the amount of time they estimated. I found Kaitlyn (office manager) to be very responsive and addressed any concerns or questions immediately. The workers were all very friendly and professional. It was expensive but I got several quotes for the project and theirs was in line with the others, it is simply an expensive time to remodel. We had Better Built Basement come out to renovate our basement in June 2022. The process started in August 2021, where we had them come out and give us a quote. We chose to start in the following summer based on our schedule. Based on reviews, testimonials, and the quote, we opted to go with BBB for our basement renovation. The communication was sound throughout the entire process, and the months leading up to the project’s start date. When the project began, the communication was still consistent, and we were happy with the progress. 4 weeks into the project (that was projected for 6 weeks), the communication dropped off significantly. It was as if the company had done a complete 180. There were days at a time when there was no work happening in the basement, with no communication from the management at BBB. My husband and I reached out via email, and we would receive a generic “sit tight” or “we will finish your basement, don’t worry.” I called and spoke to Kaitlyn and received a very generic and unenthusiastic response about shipping delays and a shortage of workers. We continued to check in, inquiring about an end date, since it was evident that it was going to take longer than 6 weeks. Any time we would reach out, we would receive abrasive responses blaming it on COVID, vacations, and shipping delays. Let me be very clear-I understand all of those external factors can affect the job-that was not my frustration. My frustration was the lack of communication from upper management when we reached out. There was a week where no one was in our basement, nothing was updated on Builder Trend, and Jim did not ever return my phone call. After 4 days of emailing, calling, and having no one show up to work on our basement, we received an email that said they were all on vacation, however, no vacation response was sent back to us when we emailed, and there was no verbiage on their website or socials stating they were away. I find it odd that no one could respond to us for those days, and a business as reputable as BBB would not have the presence of mind to place a vacation response on their emails, or reach out to the customers they were working with to inform them that they will not be working that week. Our basement was finished after 12 weeks, which was double the time they projected. I would like to thank Randy, Dakota, and the team of painters, builders, plumbers, and electricians who worked on our basement. They were communicative, had wonderful customer service, and were pleasures to work with. Our basement is beautiful, and we are very happy with the product. The issue is not with the quality of the basement, my issue is with their upper management and their lack of communication. We might have caught them in a season where they were not at their best with their communication, however, their response to our desire for more communication was less than desirable and shows a lack of customer service. I feel as though it is important for potential customers to be aware of this situation, and the way that Kaitlyn and Jim treated us during the final 8 weeks of our project. I am still waiting for a phone call from Jim from the end of July. This company has a lot of improvements that need to be made in their customer service and communication department, which is a major loss for the company because the quality of their work is fantastic. I believe that it is important for anyone who is considering them to know all of this going in, so they know what they are getting themselves into.Service: Basement remodeling

I was involved with this business when it was a startup. I know the owners and Office Manager well. If you want quality work, honest quotes, a clean work site, and people who care about your satisfaction, this is the company to use for your home improvement project. Jim, Randy and the guys go above and beyond to make sure customers are happy not just at the end but throughout the project. They work tirelessly to ensure everything is perfect before considering a project complete. If I still lived in CT, I wouldn't hesitate to have them do all projects for me.

Two years ago, I met with BBB Randy to add a bathroom on our second floor. Now, two years later, after having done such a good job on our bathroom, we have finished our basement with BBB, adding a bedroom, bathroom, bar, and theater. Our home was recently constructed by Toll Brothers. Making renovations to and matching the high quality to that of Toll brothers' can be challenging at times. We were so fortunate to work with BBB and their construction quality. They make sure their customer receives exactly what they ask for and more. We have worked with Randy throughout the entire process from start to finish. He is very professional and always available to address your needs. They have good contractors and maintain the delivery schedule. Throughout the construction process, I never had to worry about anything. We love our basement, and are always receiving compliments on it! We are very thankful towards the entire BBB construction team for working on our project.

They are the best!! We finished our basement about 900 sq ft which included play, workout, and family area as well as a full bathroom. From the initial meet and greet and walk through with Robert, throughout our entire finishing of our basement-everyone was polite, professional, and very clean. Jim and Kaitlyn were very responsive during the whole process and so easy to work with. Even a few punch list items once we finished. We had a built and we love it-we met with the carpenter and 100% custom to what we wanted. Plus they built it on site. I contracted Better Built Basement (BBB) to renovate our 800 sq. ft basement which included a living area, kitchen and a full bathroom. Let me start out by stating I’m a very demanding and controlling customer. I interviewed many companies for this job and took my time to really research each company. BBB was not the cheapest but their presentation and knowledge about construction was impressive. From the moment I signed with them I couldn’t be more pleased. What I loved about BBB is that all their contractors are “in house.” They all work for BBB and they communicate with each other so there is no confusion. ALL their workers were so polite, always showed up on time and cleaned up at the end of the day. The office manager Kaitlyn was a pleasure to work with too. It was comforting to know if I had any issues I could contact her. For the kitchen, BBB recommended Integrity Kitchen Design. Kevin, the owner, was so nice to work with and the kitchen turned out beautiful. BBB’s workmanship and professionalism was impeccable. I would highly recommend them!!

Better Built Basements LLC renovated my basement this past summer, installing a full bathroom, bedroom (with egress window), office and finished common area.The project went very smoothly, with great communication and follow-up. Just about everything was done to spec and on the correct timeline. At the beginning of the project we were provided a schedule, and they met almost every milestone; the entire project was completed on time, including pulling the necessary permits and passing all town inspections.We had a few change orders during the project, and they were able to work them in and still complete the project within the original time frame.The communication was phenomenal. For each phase of the project we knew who was coming to the house when, who would be in charge if there was any issue, and who we could escalate to if there were concerns.I would highly recommend them for any project.Months later we are as thrilled as we were the day it was completed.Thanks so much to the team for our wonderful finished basement.

The deck is phenomenal and the quality of their work surpassed our expectations.
