We recently hired LG Building and Remodeling to remodel our unfinished basement into an in-law apartment and also remodeled our master bath shower in the main house. Above all I have to say the quality of the work was absolutely excellent. They considered all the little details that made all the difference. The apartment is just beautiful. In fact, a friend who is in real estate said it's the nicest in-law apartment he's seen, and he's seen many. Casey managed the project. He was tremendous to deal with and was on top of everything. Jade actually built the custom barn doors on site. The barn doors are beautiful and a focal point in the apartment. Vic did an impeccable job on the shower. We really couldn't be happier.We've used LG Building and Remodeling over the years for multiple projects. The versatility of the different types of work they do really makes LG Building and Remodeling a one-stop-shop for just about any building or remodeling project. Working with Lyman and his entire team has been an absolute pleasure, and it's worth reiterating the quality of their work which is why we keep using LG Building and Remodeling. Given our experiences with other contractors through the years, we just won't use anyone else. After obtaining several quotes I hired LG to remodel my small fiberglass shower, to enlarge it and to transform into an accessible, no threshold entry. I chose LG because the price they quoted was very reasonable compared to 2 of the other bids I received, and because they were the only 1 of the 4 who promised to be able to make the shower barrier free...and they did. I appreciated Casey's ideas for the project, the tile work that Victor and Nikita did and Linda's daily calls to keep me informed of the progress of the job and to make sure I was satisfied. I would not hesitate to recommend them.

A few weeks back, my husband and I called LG Building and Remodeling for a quote on a new roof based on their reputation for high standards. Given the current conditions, they were able to provide an estimate based on a software program. Within a day we received the estimate and accepted the contract with the color samples for the Timberline shingles delivered the next day . A crew began the following week and completed our multi-gabled house and adjacent enclosed porch in two days. They worked long hours, provided knowledgeable labor, and cleaned up thoroughly after their day's work. The shingles are, as I told Lyman, spot on with regard to quality, texture, and color and has turned our home into a showcase. I would recommend LG Building and Remodeling without hesitation!

We remodeled my elderly, disabled parents' main bathroom during a very difficult time in their lives. With much gratitude, I can say that the entire process of the remodel was much smoother than I anticipated. The entire LG team was friendly, professional and flexible. They were sensitive to the challenging family dynamics within which the project took place, and they proficiently completed the project within the contracted time frame.Ron, who came out several times to work on an estimate, was knowledgeable, reassuring and timely in responding. It was these initial interactions with him, along with a fair quote, that gave me the confidence to know that LG was the right choice.Casey, the project manager, really made sure the entire project ran smoothly. He was readily available as needed and would check in on-site most days. When questions or issues arose, he was quick to communicate with me and problem-solve.I would get a phone call from Linda every afternoon, keeping me apprised of what had been done that day and what the next day would bring. This level of customer service was a pleasant and most-welcomed surprise to me.Marc, who did the bulk of the labor in the bathroom, did a superior job. His precision, eye for detail, and craftsmanship leave room for zero criticism. His easygoing demeanor lent to a comfortable flow of getting the job done amidst the challenging home environment.I couldn't be happier with both the service and the finished product we received from LG Building & Remodeling, and I would without hesitation recommend them to others as well as use them for my own future projects.

I want to thank Lyman and the LG Building team for all the hard work they put in on my remodeling project. After sustaining extensive flood damage to my kitchen and bathroom (located in Southbury, CT), I contracted LG Building in the Spring of 2019 to help me with the rebuilding process. From start to finish, they helped me navigate the difficult process (including working with my insurance company), and assisted me through changes to project scope as the planning continued. Though a home remodeling project is not an easy thing to go through (especially when insurance is involved!), they addressed all of my concerns and left me with an absolutely beautiful kitchen and 1st floor bathroom.From a great sales team (nice work Ron) to an excellent and attentive office staff (thank you Linda and Cristin) and a highly skilled carpentry team (shout outs to Lyman for the hard work with planning and execution, and Casey for ensuring the project was wrapped up beautifully), I can't thank them enough. Will use again in the future, and highly recommend to others.I'm not one to go out of my way and write reviews, but I felt compelled to do so after seeing a recent negative review. In this day and age, all too often the bad is emphasized, and good work is left unacknowledged. While I can't speak for anyone else, I want to stress again what an excellent experience I had personally. Remodeling projects are not easy, and not everything goes according to plan. I would recommend LG Building and Remodeling because they were able to weather the bumps with me, and as long as I was willing to reach out and talk to them, they were able to work with me. The quality of work exceeded expectations, and the process itself is far better than I've ever had with any other remodeling company.I'll come back and post some pictures of my beautiful finished space. LG Building and Remodeling was hired by Southbury Kitchens as the Contractor to do the work on my new kitchen. Lyman and the folks at LG Building and Remodeling could not have been nicer to work with. Linda, who works in the office, communicated with me every single day to let me know who/what was coming each day. Ray did spectacular work on all the new cabinets. Jade's work on the backsplash was perfect! And Ray and Shawn painted it beautifully. I was absolutely thrilled with the way it all turned out. We were hoping the kitchen would be finished in time for us to use it on Thanksgiving and they came through for us, finishing it up with a day to spare! I would absolutely recommend LG Building and Remodeling for any house project. They do first rate work and are even better people to work with.

I have worked with LG team for over 6 years and the workmanship, time management and dedication to completion of every project has been a success. We have done small renovations and large renovations, but they all have been smooth! My wife and I own a house from the 1700's and wanted to install a sliding barn door to separate a portion of the house from the rest. It was important to us to maintain the period feel of the home so we purchased an actual barn door from the 1800's. The best decision we made was to hire LG to do the installation. The door was oversized and needed to be cut down dramatically to fit the space. Its hardware needed to be salvaged and brought back to life. Also, there isn't a straight line in the house so their carpenter had to hand cut and fit every piece of wood used to support the door. The bottom line is that my wife can't stop smiling and the door looks like it was designed for the space. It looks perfect, it functions perfectly and it looks like it has always been here. We had ceilings that needed repair after someone stepped through from the attic. Ceiling was broken all the way through and to the walls. I worked with Ron at LG, he was terrific. Gave us a fast estimate and had the job done within two weeks. They have very experienced carpenters and craftsman type folks that do the work. Neat and clean, Thank you!

We contracted with LG for a one room extension (only). The scope was fairly simple, as plumbing and gas were NOT included on this project.Due to the company's negligence, lack of accessibility and disorganization, the project encountered numerous issues which led to insurmountable delays. The contract indicated a 120-day timeline, this project took an unacceptable seven months to complete. Some examples of LG's dereliction include:1. Ineffective subcontractors. Three of them (gutters, flooring, mason) were replaced after extended periods of haplessness.2. Lyman Gilbert, the principal of LG, was constantly unavailable or unreachable while issues occurred on-site. Lyman was on vacation often throughout the project and did not return calls or texts.3. Re-work was constant, leading to further delays.4. The subcontractors that did complete work were rude and lacked integrity.5. LG lacks expertise in several areas, most importantly HVAC.I have never filed a complaint like this before but LG’s performance was so egregiously unsatisfactory, I feel compelled to warn others before they commit to a similarly dysfunctional project.I regret choosing LG for this project and would like to warn both prospective clients and architects against using LG in the future. The frustration and hardship inflicted on my family due to LG's negligence will leave scars for the foreseeable future. Instead of enjoying the new addition to our house we will instead be reminded of LG's flagrant futility and mistreatment.

My home took some damage from tropical storm Isaias and needed to be repaired asap so I could have the electrical service also repaired. Lyman came to survey the damage just a few hours after I reached out to them. He had the damage fixed before noon the following day. The repair came out great but Lyman came back anyway to re-inspect the work. The invoice was less than his original estimate. I would definitely use them again for other projects.Services: General construction, General repairs

Very professional. The work was completed in a timely fashion and is very solid. Wind ripped off some flashing and siding on my house. I got an estimate quickly and the LG crew was in and out in a day. Granted it was a smaller job but I couldn't be happier with it.
