After receiving 20+ quotes from various companies throughout CT, we decided to have C&S redo our existing driveway, and pave new section alongside our house. This was based on (1) existing reviews across the web, (2) price and service, and (3) professionalism. This review is no different from any of the other real one's out there - the results are excellent (take a look at any of their "poor" reviews, and you be the judge of whether or not they're from legitimate customers - also see photos I've attached of our new driveway). For what you get, the cost of the job was very reasonable (C&S was the only quote including 12" of base material. All others ranged from 3" to 8"), and comes with a 2 year warranty. C&S clearly care about their brand. All of their trucks and equipment are state of the art, clean and well decorated. As noted in my synopsis of the quoting process below, the quote was clearly itemized, and provided all the essential details (e.g., dimensions, material cost, labor cost, estimated timing, warranty, etc.).The job was finished up yesterday, and as you can see in the photos, they spared no expense in material or time. There's 3" compressed to 2.5" asphalt, with a 12" base underneath. The edges are compacted/graded to 45s, and zero mess on sections that are butted up against other structures (house/shed/fence posts). Just today, I've already had 1 neighbor compliment how well it turned out, and I've seen 3 people on different occasions taking pictures of the C&S Paving yard-sign that's sitting right next to it. I'm notoriously picky about fine details in craftsmanship; if you need paving work done, look no further.I will load updated photos to this post in a few months, so stay tuned!Quoting Synopsis:Before choosing C&S, my girlfriend and I received over 20 quotes. The estimates we received ranged from $4,000 all the way to $9,500. What I found was that the guys bidding the lowest prices don't present very professionally (e.g., showing up to give a quote in a rusty Honda Civic), and/or appear desperate for the business (e.g., asking about other quotes that you've already received, offering to do things like fill cracks in the sidewalk with any leftover asphalt from the job, etc.), and those bidding the highest were the least scientific (e.g., no measuring wheel to determine square footage), and try to rush through the process. What surprised me most was that, out of the 20+ quotes we received, only 3 were provided on paperwork customized for the company providing them (I had one guy literally draw a diagram of our driveway on dunkin donuts napkin). Yes, these are all REAL examples from the process of quoting this job, and while some are laughable, it's scary to think that some homeowners will contract with them! C&S replaced and widened my driveway in April of 2022. After first requesting a quote, they immediately came over. I explained the problems with the old driveway and they proposed solutions. They were great about communicating what was happening and when. I could tell that they were very proud of their work when they presented me with the finished product. It is now July. Highly recommend C&S Masonry. Flori and his team are professional, courteous, and do fantastic work. I was getting water in my house through the chimney, and needed a rebuild from the roof up. They finished the tear down and rebuild in a day, and it's been water tight ever since. They've since done some small asphalt work for me as well.
