This was our first time visiting Cedar Key and staying at Firefly Resort Cottages. It was a wonderful experience. Like staying in paradise, a place to get away for relaxation and also have some fun! Our lovely cottage (Penelope's) was spotless, comfortable (loved the comfy bed) and thoughtfully setup. My husband loved the screened in back porch with its pretty water views and many birds. Our hosts, Ian and Darrin were great! They were very helpful and kind. And, they even provided fresh ground coffee, etc. every morning! We were a mile or so from downtown Cedar Key with its many restaurants, shops and beautiful sunsets. We could easily walk or bike ride into town and there were also golf carts to rent nearby. We enjoyed our time at Firefly very much and will be back in the near future. Thank you Ian, Darrin and Indah :-). Truly a home away from home!

We had an excellent stay with Fire Fly Cottages. The cottage was super cute, cozy, and relaxing. It is the perfect location - close enough to walk to everything yet just far enough away to be quite peaceful and restorative. Ian and Maté are so welcoming and such gracious hosts. They have put so much work in restoring since the hurricane. The sunrise view is truly amazing. The coffee is dynamite! We truly enjoyed our stay and will definitely make time to get back there! Do not let this little gem pass you by...Rooms: The cottage was cute, comfortable, well supplied, and cozy.Walkability: We walked everywhere - downtown, the pier/boardwalk, shopping, leisurely strolls.

Found this little gem on Cedar Key. Ian & Darrin were gracious host. Our cottage was a cross between a Key West and a Bali vibe. Clean, cute and comfortable. Had bikes on property to rent and firewood for nightly fires if you so choose. Close to downtown yet far enough to enjoy the starlit skies . Definitely going back..Rooms: Well decorated and comfortable.Walkability: Less than a mile from town

This is an outstanding place to stay. It's very inclusive, old Florida and close to town, with a Key West vibe. The attention to detail - fm fresh ground coffee, bottled water, retro fridge, rental bikes - makes a stay in Cedar Key wonderful. Hang out by the water and read, have personalized greeting, to fresh ground coffee, the owners are super attentive and anticipatory of every need. We had an outstanding stay here in Old Florida.

I have just been reading through these recent comments and am thrilled that the boys pulled through the difficult time after the dreadful hurricane. We stayed at Firefly Cottages in 2022, and have wonderful memories, but were genuinely concerned that the hurricane damage would be overwhelming. 2nd stay here and first under the new owners. Listen, don't come here if you can't appreciate peace and quiet and tranquility. These gentlemen are tremendous hosts, and their coffee game is 2nd to none... They are from Seattle, after all! The cottages are small and quaint. Perfect for 2 people to have a romantic getaway. A true hidden Gem in Cedar Key!

My husband and I absolutely loved our stay. Our cottage (Kiwi) was super cute. It was perfect for our quick little Anniversary weekend getaway. The room was very clean and comfortable.Firefly Resort is just the cutest place. It is very quiet and peaceful. It was so nice getting to meet Mate' once we arrived. He came to the Cottage and explained everything. Glad we got to see him on the way out too!We are already trying to plan on when we are going back. We will see you again soon hopefully!

Great little spot with most excellent hosts! Super friendly, engaging, and extremely helpful on all the great local spots. Highly enjoyed our talks throughout our visitThe rooms are delightful & quiant and super clean. The cottage decore was colorful and festive, with every spot & detail having something unique and interesting. The entire grounds set the mood.We came for the stars and wound up finding a gem. We will definitely be back in the cooler months so we can truly enjoy the grounds and island.Thank you for a great weekend.Rooms: The cottages were perfect with small kitchenettes with everything you need to cook a gourmet meal. Just bring groceries.Nearby activities: Plenty to do on the Island and all within a short 10-20 minute walk or shorter bike ride. Restaurants, parks, museum, and gifts. A golf cart is definitely the way to travel the island if you can secure one.Walkability: 10-20 minute walk to the island restaurants & bars.

My wife and I absolutely loved our stay at Firefly. Ian and Mate’ couldn’t have been more accommodating. From helping us with kayak and restaurant recommendations and reservations to making sure every detail of our stay was comfortable and welcoming.We loved our cute “Firefly” cottage on the backside of the property overlooking the water. We woke up to a beautiful sunrise enjoying our coffee (provided freshly-ground each morning on our door) on our back porch each morning. Our beautifully-appointed cottage was everything we’d hoped it would be. The grounds and amenities were like a tropical paradise. We stayed two weeks and it was the perfect respite for us. It is walkable to everything in Cedar Key, yet the secluded oasis we hoped it would be! We highly recommend Firefly to anyone looking for a getaway experience in Cedar Key.

We just stayed there. It was our first time. Has all the charm we hoped for and more! Met by Mate when we first arrived, he didn't have to do that, but it was a nice gesture. Nice to meet fellow Pacific NW people. We stayed in Kiwi, it was super cute. The door step was uneven and so were the floors but that added to the high charm factor. No complaints. Awesome little seating areas too. Super clean, private and quiet. We've never been to Cedar Key and were looking for a spot to unplug from the chaos of Orlando. Found it at Firefly. Jackpot! We are going to return in winter when it's less humid. I almost hate writing this because it'll give away our secret spot. LOL. Thanks for helping us unplug! See you again!

Firefly cottages are each unique, quaint, private, clean and well appointed.It is the perfect place to stay while exploring Cedar Key. This was our 3rd stay at Firfly and they are consistently a wonderful spot to spend time while exploring the Florida coast!

A little piece of old Florida at it's best. Tucked away close enough to everything Cedar Key has to offer but so much more. Firefly is an experience in itself. From the peaceful surroundings to the awesome hosts it definitely feels like a home away from home that you are sad to leave. From the moment you get there Ian and Darrin are so welcoming and gracious and sets the mood for a wonderful vacation. I cannot say enough about those guys or their littlle piece of paradise. Absolutely the best place I have ever stayed. I already miss being there. Thanks for a wonderful experience guys. Oh and not to mention the best fresh ground coffee service every morning!!

This place lives up to its stellar reviews! Booked a two night stay here because I was doing a school project on the island. I stayed in the Papaya Cottage and it was perfect! I could park right outside my cottage to easily get my gear in and out. The cottage itself was spotlessly clean. Little touches like the fresh ground coffee in the morning, cream in the fridge, etc. made the stay extra special. The whole place has a peaceful, restful vibe that I really loved. I also got to meet one of the owners who was so nice and his dog, Inda, who was absolutely precious. I am already thinking about booking another trip to stay here soon and to spend more time relaxing and not having to work on a project :)

We recently spent a week at the namesake Firefly Cottage and totally enjoyed ourselves. The cottage was beautifully decorated, super comfortable, and came with a fully equipped kitchen. Mornings were spent relaxing on the back porch overlooking the inlet that was filled with an assortment of birds - ospreys, egrets, ibises, ducks, and jumping mullet fish…for dinner we sometimes used the charcoal grill (charcoal is supplied!). The town has a few nice places to eat and a funky yet historic vibe. Also there are a few refuges for nature walks. Ian and Mate were always available for any questions we had, and a nice perk was they delivered fresh ground coffee every morning! We had a very peaceful, restful vacation and wouldn’t hesitate to return.

We just spent an idyllic weekend here at Firefly cottages. Ian and Mate' were the consummate hosts. They gave us recommendations, insights on the island and just helped us really squeeze every minute out of our time there. We stayed in Penelope cottage and I highly recommend. The porch is a wonderful place to watch the birds and just listen to the sounds of nature. The cottages are clean, the bed was super comfy and they are decorated and supplied with an eye for detail. And there's the most friendly and sweet doggie there who'll melt your heart. Thank you Ian and Mate' for a wonderful birthday and surprise weekend for my hubby. We'll be back to try to catch that elusive redfish!

My wife and I stayed here for a week. The people that run it are wonderful. They are smart and funny and very friendly. When you get here, sit down and talk to them. They will tell you about the town and island. The cottage we rented was perfect. Clean, bright, well appointed. It had a porch on which we sat and read books. Cedar Key is a quiet, laid back, peaceful place that makes a perfect getaway.

I have visited Cedar Key many times with stays at many different properties, but Firefly Cottages are my favorite! I stayed in Papaya cottage and everything was perfect. So clean and comfortable with many touches that make the property very special. The outside areas with sounds of nature, comfortable seating, waterfall, greenery, music and then just a few steps away, the back bay with fish jumping, interesting birds to watch. Walking distance to everything and bikes on property. And the hosts, Ian and Darrin are so amazing, welcoming on arrival, quickly responding to needs, so knowledgeable about the area and never intrusive. I can't wait to go back!

Spent a wonderful weekend at the Firefly Cottages in Cedar Key, FL. Old Florida at it’s best. We stayed in the Penelope which had a private back porch and creative decor. Amenities were top notch - including fresh ground coffee every morning. Could walk or bike to town. Enjoyed dinner at the Sand Bar and drinks at the Low Key Hideaway,Tiki Bar. Can catch the sunset on the property or in town. A great place for a quiet or romantic getaway. Loved it!

This was my 4th trip to Cedar Key but first time at Firefly. I was by myself on a mini retreat so the Papaya Cottage for one was absolutely perfect. Mate' me me on arrival and there was a welcome to me outside of my door. The place is immaculate in every way. All of dishes were individually wrapped in tissue paper for hygiene purposes. The room was just perfect and the grounds so peaceful. Music and small waterfall trickling added to the ambiance. The fresh ground coffee delivered each morning was a delight. I was very impressed with the bathroom products. I have now ordered the shampoo provided for home. They spared no expense. Most hotels these days don't even provide shampoo, conditioner and lotion anymore. I could go on and on how sweet the place was and how it had everything you needed. It was a 10 minute walk into downtown so no need for the car. I didn't use the bikes but they were available. On my last night there it was a bit chilly so I asked Mate' if I could have a fire. Of course, and he proceeded to get the bundle of firewood, split it into kindling and started it for me. It was so relaxing. I would HIGHLY recommend this place and hope to go back next year.

Had the most wonderful stay. Stayed in the Snook Cottage and was so impressed with how thoughtfully it was appointed. The room was beautifully decorated, there was a beachcomber’s field guide, tropical dishes, even playing cards. Of course the filtered water in glass bottles and the freshly ground coffee made an exceptional cup of coffee that I enjoyed in a perfectly worn Adirondack chair by the water. Darrin and Ian were the most gracious and helpful hosts ever. The property is lovely. Will definitely be back. Don’t miss a chance to stay at Firefly.

When attention to detail is taken to the next level! Ian and Darrin are absolutely amazing people. The cottage was extremely clean, well maintained and nice and cool inside with delicious drinking water and fantastic accoutrements! It’s so cozy and they are so welcoming. They really have thought of everything to make your stay beyond comfortable. We feel like family here. The water front is awesome, location is so close to everything you could want and even the dog is great at fetching pine cones :) what a great and relaxing weekend and it’s only been a few hours here for us thus far and I felt compelled to leave a review. Thanks guys! Will absolutely be back!

This was our first time to Firefly Resort Cottages and we were very pleased with our cottage ( The Penelope ). Our room was clean, cozy and the AC kept the room a perfect temp. It had everything you would need for a relaxing and quiet experience. Even the cook book in the kitchen had a great chicken soup receipt that l took a photo of and plan to make. Two thumbs up for the mini diffuser from us curly hair people, even upscale resorts do not offer that. The Rock water fountain in the common area was enjoyed along with watching the birds. Firefly Resort was just fare enough from all tourist stores but close enough (5 min drive) if you felt like going to eat or watch a sunset.

My husband and I chose to stay at Firefly Cottages on our first trip of retirement. The moment I arrived I felt like I had died and gone to Heaven. Everything was perfect. We are bird watchers and the show every day was amazing. We stayed for seven days and wish we had booked longer. Ian and Darrin are the best hosts ever! They are doing an awesome job with the property. I highly recommend this magical place.
