I asked them to review some fascia and bargeboard repairs. We ultimately decided to replace my gutters and gutter guards as well. I was impressed with their timeliness, professionalism and neatness. So, my gutters had a chicken wire top on them when I moved into my house, and this was not ideal. Leaves stuck to it, and water backed up onto the roof. So we removed the chicken wire to let the gutters actually drain. Well, damage had already been done to the soffits, so the gutters weren't doing much, so we removed them completely from the house.This was fine until squirrels took advantage of my rotting soffits, and chewed their way in (chicken wire, aluminum plates, more wood, nothing kept them out).So when We found out we were getting a tax refund, I reached out for a quote for gutters. Rudy was very nice and explained what soffits needed to be replaced along with fascia, and what needed to only be repaired. I expressed my concern about squirrels, and the leaves getting backed up in the gutters and causing the same problems again. He told me the gutters would stop the squirrels from getting into the soffits, and that they have gutter guards now that go on top of the gutters, and that it's actually illegal in some places to not have them on.Since he assured me that the guards would work well, and leaves wouldn't make it into the gutters I went with him. He was not present during the install, 2 of his workers came out and did it fairly quickly. When the work was done I gave them my card, and they told me it would be significantly more cause the quote was for cash (which I was not told) I had the cash available, but didn't withdraw it cause I wasn't told I would need to pay in cash to get the quote price, and I don't keep thousands of dollars in cash laying around my house. They then followed me to the bank where I was able to withdraw the money for the service.All was well until I noticed watermarks on my ceiling almost 2 years later. We went on the roof to check for damage and noticed out gutter had no guards on them, and they were full of leaves causing water to backup onto the roof. The invoice never listed guards, but since he told me all gutters have them, I didn't think it would be a separate charge, also since I was so concerned about the leaves backing up and rotting the soffits like before, I don't know why he would even quote me without them. I didn't think I would have to climb up and check the gutters after they installed them to verify this.He obviously has no recollection of this conversation since it was 2 years ago and he probably does many quotes a week, and I was not charged for them, so there's nothing to refund. I just now have to deal with water damage cause i had no idea I needed to clean out my gutters cause I was told I would get guards I didn't get.tldr; even if you don't know the terminology (gutter guards) and even if you're promised something and assume it's on the quote cause you expressed intense concern about it, climb up on a latter and double check the work cause you'll end up thinking you're getting a good deal but in reality you're paying more for something you're not getting.
