Seriously need to invest money into purchasing new mattresses for this establishment!! The springs in the ones in our room are completely worn out ! I'm literally sleeping in what feels like a large hole . It's not but that's just how worn out they are. Everything else seems fine. By the way , I personally don't have a problem with the ferrel cats. God bless you for providing food and shelter to these babies!

Don't stay here if you have a dog. Someone who works here is feeding stray cats. They jumped out of the bushes beside the driveway and attacked my golden retriever as we were walking toward the road. It's pure idiocy to attract feral cats to a motel that advertises as pet-friendly. Yet that's what she's doing here. There were makeshift shelters for them under the stairs right outside my door. And she had bowls of food outside when I went over to the office at around 6am to see if I could get a cup of coffee. Someone needs to send animal control over here. Incidentally, the bathroom was disgustingly dirty. But the main problem here is they're hosting aggressive, feral cats. Be on your guard if you do have to book here as a last resort.

I am only writing this review in hopes to help save someone else on a terrible experience. We showed about 4 hours after allowed check in time and were told they had no room for us even though we booked weeks in advance. We then waited an hour while they ‘cleaned’ a room. It was not cleaned. Obviously dirty sheets were thrown on the beds. There were old stains and fresh stains and hair all over the beds. It was beyond disgusting. We immediately asked for a refund and were told that there was no manager on site and to call in the next day. We then had to to hunt for a hotel room and pay more for same day booking at 9pm at night. Unless you’re okay with sleeping on other people’s bodily fluids and hair, not being guaranteed a room and irresponsible management, don’t waste your money here. I would have taken more pictures but I was exhausted and just wanted to get out of there!!

We had to have the bedding changed. There were spots on the bedcover and hairs on the sheets. Rest of room was fair. Shower curtain was a 2 part liner and it was not assembled correctly. Shower head was so clogged it barely let any water through. There was a lot of trash and debris around the property. Could use a good sweeping or leaf blower around it. Not the worst place I have been but close. It probably explains why they had rooms left when most others were booked. Lobby was very hot, vending machines were broken. We did not look at the breakfast offered.

When we arrived, the lady at the front desk was very nice and accommodating. We went up to the room and it was not bad at first… until we looked more closely. The room must have been recently painted because there were paint splatters on the curtains, the chair, and on the floor. There was a dried up contact on the floor. When we left for downtown Helen, there were 2 dirty rags right outside of the door too. When we arrived back at the hotel for the night, I had just so happen to pull the sheets back and to my suprise… there were BED BUGS all over the mattress topper! We immediately packed our things and checked out at 12am. No matter how many stars the hotel is, there should be a standard of cleanliness being met. It’s absolutely UNACCEPTABLE to be that unsanitary.

STAY AWAYTo be clear, I knew this was not the best hotel in Helen but they had vacancy where others did not. The yuck factor exceeded my expectation, however.The room was absolutely disgusting and the price paid was too high. BOTH bed linen was gross, had stains and needed to be replaced years ago. Both mattresses were old and worn out. The bathroom floor and the toilet were not cleaned well and there were remaining urine stains. We ended up buying our own bed linens to sleep on. Other guests we spoke with said there were roaches in their room.Given the location, someone could make a ton of money on this place if new management took over and invested money into remodeling the rooms.As my kid says, this hotel is a big "EW".

Do not stay here. The manager Michael was very rude and that's just the beginning. Most of the other staff were kind but the place was horrible. We stayed in a roach infested room. It was Labor Day weekend so obviously couldn't get any other rooms that night ( I tried until 1am). The night staff said we would get a full refund but come to find out the "manager" said since we stayed the night he couldn't refund the whole amount. We had bugs crawling on my kids face as they tried to sleep. Good luck trying to find the manager as he just sits outside and smoke cigarettes while you wait in the lobby. After calling several times to corporate he finally sent me an email on 9/9 that they would be refunding me 75% which is still unacceptable. Fast forward to today, almost 2 months after the refund email and still no refund. I've contacted corporate 5 times, sent him countless emails and called the hotel only to continue to get no results. I guess this is just the world we live in where customer service doesn't matter anymore. Who runs a business this way. Even corporate has tried to reach him with no luck and still no results. It's not even about the money at this point is about taking accountability for your disgusting facility and lack of any hospitality. I have contacted the health department to try and see if that will help clean it up for the future unfortunate guests that may stay there. I will never stay at a Red Roof or any affiliated chain again. Still waiting on a response from someone!

I had great stay here. The hotel aesthetic, staffing and amenities definitely exceeded my expectations. The local German bovarian style is a great complement to this Red Roof Inn at Helen sitting on the Appalachian mountains as its setting, makes it very picturesque. The staff is friendly, helpful, and accommodating. The hotel is clean, and fully stocked. The Red Roof Inn at Helen is conveniently positioned on the main strip of Helen, making it convenient to walk around. It is roughly a 15 minute walk to the main section of Helen where you can find food, drinks, live music and entertainment along with other recreational activities, that are seasonal. There is also a nice park with a few pavilions and picnics tables running along side to a very nice creek across the street from the hotel. It is only a 5 minute walk. This hotel does provide breakfast. It has outdoor seating area by the pool and a gated dog park where you can let your furry friends enjoy some freedom off the leash. I recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a comfortable stay.Rooms: Clean, stocked and had all the amenities you would expect at a hotel.Nearby activities: They have alot of activities to do in Helen..-tubing-hiking trails/ waterfalls- They have a fun park with go kart tracks, arcade, jumping park and several other activities- plenty of outdoor seating areas all over the city.- axe throwing- mini golf- horse pulled carriage ride-mountain coaster- lots of shopping storesAnd there is plenty more to do..Safety: I know safety is a concern for some people. This hotel has surveillance throughout the building and staff is always present making it feel safe. The local police station sits just a building next from the hotel.Walkability: Helen is very walkable. There is sidewalk with plenty of crossing sections throughout the town and local speed limit makes it accommodating to there walking guest. My family and I were able to walk the main street strip in under 2 hours. That includes us stopping for, food, entertainment, shopping and photos.Food & drinks: Helen provides a diversity of different food choices from German styled cuisine to Mexican styled food up to Italian styled Gelato just to name a few. There is also bars/pubs , wineries, breweries and coffee shops.

I really liked the room we were at. Nice room, AC, TV, coffee, a microwave and mini fridge, etc. The pool was perfect for us because we just had a great time. Also, Lisa was our room service person who was very quick and responsive. She was so helpful and polite. She replenished our towels and trash bags when needed. We can’t thank her enough! Also, the manager is so polite and knowledgeable and also responsive and helpful. They both asked if we needed anything else. The breakfast was so good. I was really impressed with how clean it was in the lobby.

I was weary about the place after reading reviews. I have to say that all of the bad reviews must be a bunch of Karen’s!I’m VERY picky about hotels but Red Roof Inn definitely made me happy!Let’s start with the customer service at the desk. Unfortunately I didn’t catch her name but she was so sweet and very quick to get my checked in.Walking into our room, I could clearly tell it had been cleaned and cleaned good! Shout out to Lisa for her cleaning job! I didn’t find one hair, one stain or anything in my room! You can tell she takes her job seriously!Location was great, room was clean, staff was great. Beds were comfortable.I will definitely be returning to this hotel during my future stays in Helen!

So we were just driving through town for a day and wanted something affordable.we called red roof they quoted us 107.12 on the phone and told me to book it online they will send me the link so I did.I paid with my card online and it was 111.12 and then the guy said I just work here I don't deal with this stuff and told me it will be a hold on my card just because he didn't see my reservation right away.I had a confirmation number and everything.Come to find out he still charged my card so I got double charged.I told them what happen they said a manager would call me back and I would get a refund in 3 business days it's been 10 days and I still haven't heard back from no one I called 2 times and was texting a guy but he was ignoring me because they didn't have a business card he was nice enough to try to communicate with me through the phone.He kept saying a manager would call me or he would figure it out.its like they are trying to steal my money and keep the double charge.One of the guys that double charge me said breakfast at 9:30 and it was 9 we got there at 9:01 and there was no one cleaning up or anything so I believe they ended breakfast earlier and didn't say anything.All they had was expired yogurt plus rotten apples.The room had roaches.And there was hair on the bed I forgot to take a picture of the bed.But I wouldn't recommend this hotel at all.Even for a drive through just because it's not clean the customer service was horrible and they have no communication of getting back to you.At first the guy was nice but then he kept saying everything was our fault and didn't seem like he wants to be there.

We stayed 3 nights and I was told the room would be cleaned after we checked out. We went each day to hand in our dirty towels and get clean ones. Same sheets the whole time. We wore shoes the whole time due to the floor was really dirty. The mattress was old and wore out. I had such a backache every morning. We have stayed at the hotel a couple of times before and the hotel is getting more run down each time. This will be our last stay there.Walkability: Near the shops

June 8-10, 2023Our room was very clean, the staff was extremely helpful and friendly.. We really liked the location, and our fur baby enjoyed the dog area.. The looked clean as we didn't get in the water but we did enjoy eating our snack and just taking in the beautiful scenery around us . We are having a family fun week next year and are definitely staying here again ..

This was an absolute nightmare. After checking in very late at night, I went up to our room to inspect it, as I always do at any hotel, before bringing all of our luggage up to the stairs and into the room. The room was dark and definitely in need of updating but the problem was when I removed all the bedding to check the mattress and discovered bugs in the seams of the mattress I even moved the mattress of the box springs. I went down the hall to my in laws room who were traveling with us to check their room and there was evidence of bugs in their bed as well. I took pictures and reported it to the front desk clerk who did not seemed surprised and immediately lowered her voice to not let others in the lobby know what was happening. She asked me to send the photographs to her personal cell phone. After leaving this location I contacted the corporate office who then forwarded the information back to the franchise location again. I did receive a phone call from the manager/owner? who said he had an exterminator out to inspect and found no evidence of bedbugs, even though I have pictures. I told him I found that hard to believe (considering it was Easter Sunday). The response after that was "I don't know what else to say and sorry about your experience so have a good day." I sent in a complaint to the local department of public health as bedbugs are a health risk and safety issue so hopefully no one else has to deal with the issue.

The bed was uncomfortable to me but my wife liked it so that was a wash. Both wash rags were dirty and we only had 1 hand towel, there was a small partial roll of toilet paper and no refill. There were what appeared to be cat hairs on top of the desk. We didn't eat breakfast so no opinion but on the 2nd day at 9:30 you only got what coffee was left if any and was told there was no more half and half. Asked for an extra pillow but none were available. The pool closes at 9 kinda early. I will not be staying here again for what the charges were

We were going to stay here b/c we booked last minute and it was all we could find with vacancy. After checking in and dropping off our luggage, we went to eat. When we returned I started inspecting the room and discovered urine around the base of the toilet, stains on the bedspread and sheets, a lot of hair in the tub drain, and the air was musty. The walls must be super thin b/c we could here the guests on both sides. We checked out and drove across the street to the Holiday Inn. Thank God they had 1 room left!

Clean, tidy, well maintained rooms. Friendly staff. Excellent location. Effective blackout curtains and heating/cooling. Would definitely stay again.Notably, the walls are PAPER THIN - you can hear a conversational tone clearly through the front wall at least, and a dropped sippy cup from next door. Might be a good place for ear plugs. . .

Stayed here in June. Worst hotel experience ever. The first room was dirty, second room equally gross, pool had bugs in it, birds nest by our room. Highly DO NOT recommend this location. There's far better hotels with a friendly, knowledgeable staff than this spot.

Perfect location from downtown. The rooms were clean. It is dog friendly with a dog park so that was awesome! The main reason I am writing a review though is because of the staff. There was an issue with my card getting double charged. I called to dispute the matter and before I could even speak with the manager personally, he was already aware of the situation and refunded my full amount. Michael and Dorthy were super helpful in that and I want to show my appreciation by saying thank you! I will 100% stay there next time I am in the area!

My girlfriend and I spent a few nights at this hotel last week and had a great experience. Rooms were clean and nicely furnished, and the service was wonderful. Michael, the manager was great at making sure everything was just right. He's constantly checking with the customers to make sure that their needs were met and they were having a wonderful stay. It will definitely be our go to spot in Helen every time we go through there.
