Dukes Creek Mines is well worth the price!!!! We did the large Gem bucket white tier and split it between the two kids. They both got an amazing amount of rocks and gems. The man working that day was so amazing to our family and let our kids crack open two Geodes!!!! Dukes is located right outside of Helen and Clarksville and absolutely worth visiting!!!!

Our girls loved it. Clean areas to sit and the gems and stuff are in a dandy mix and not red staining dirt like another place we tried. Guy and his daughter were super friendly, and my girls kept pulling out their finds so he could identify them for them! We picked them because they had a fossil bucket option.

A place that has been open for over 50 years by the same family! When you meet the owner, Dave, you know why. A GREAT guy who knows his stuff. Costs you nothing to pan for gold or gems. Their shop is full of awesome one of a kind gifts too.

Great place and amazing experience! My son is three and we did two of the small buckets including the ruby one. We also opened three geodes. Such a neat activity and our toddler was thoroughly entertained! Great customer service and very clean! Will be back!

Even though it is open 6 months of the year, I went in February for my Dad’s birthday, yes it was closed but looking around was surprised that the gate was fully open and the facility unattended.It be nice to have private openings for the other 6 months though.I will return during the summer months next time, since all family members have their birthdays during winter except me… 😞 unfortunately I won’t be able to visit during my birthday this year since been sick so hopefully next yearDo y’all have birthday specials???

Let this Texan tell you! DUKES CREEK is amazing and well worth the price. We did a deluxe bucket and split it between 3 adults and 1 child. We came just an hour before close (completely unintentional) and Zach was the absolutely kindest, friendly, and hilarious soul I met in Georgia. He explained everything so it was simple! His customer service was what made most the experience. Plus you get what you pay for! We had a lot of sapphires and rubies!! This gem mining experience sits just outside of Helen. It's a great activity for kids and families. Not to mention it was well kept and is covered just in case it rains on you like it did us. ALSO Zach looks out for military and their families!! I do not recommend going anywhere but here! But if you do you should visit their other location on main St Helen it's called Outpost gem mining and jewelry store. Here you will meet Ryan and Zach as well where they will help you identify your finds and get you set up with stone cutting and setting your find into jewelry! I honestly can't say enough about such a positive experience that they both provided! Thank you gentleman! on just a side note I hope you guys extend your online stores to include like your deluxe buckets I WOUlD DEFINITELY BUY!

I had never taken my kids (ages 8, 6, 3) to a place like this but they had a great time panning for gems. My two oldest kids are boys and they had a blast. My youngest is a girl and she loved just playing in the sand that is on the ground. I got I think a 3 gallon bucket for gems and my 2 oldest children went through it quickly despite me trying to make it go as slow as possible. They had a lot of fun trying to determine what gems they had as Dukes has a chart with all the things you can find in each type of bucket.When they noticed that it was possible to find shark teeth they got super excited. However I had already purchased the bucket and not the one that would include shark teeth. The gentleman working there snuck me 2 shark teeth for them to "find" in what was left of our bucket. It truly made their day! I will definitely revisit this place in the future when I am in the area.

We had a great time! We went early and it wasn't crowded. The owner is very knowledgeable and really engaged the kids! We enjoyed it so much we are coming back in a week and a half for my daughter's birthday! We got a large bucket and all 5 of us got some awesome treasures! Next time we are investing in a family bucket!

My husband and I had the best time today at this place! The guy that helped us(Ryan) was phenomenal! He went through each stone we found while mining, and explained to us how to polish them and make jewelry from them! He was very knowledgeable! We will DEFINITELY be back! Highly recommended to anyone that is interested in FUN!

I loved this store! Great selection of gems! Stuart was wonderful--very knowledgeable about the gems, very kind, and took the time to wrap my gems so they would make it safely back to Texas. I loved visiting with Gwen, the cutest and friendliest four-legged mascot!

It's great for beginners and novices to learn how to pan for gold and find gemstones. Only about a 25-30% ROI. Not bad for Helen 😕

We walk up, Gwen the mountain queen greeted us and led us into the shop, where we met our Gemstone guide. We had an incredible time speaking with the gentleman running the front end ( he was incredible to keep us company). We will be coming back soon!!

Had a blast here July 7th with my wife. We're amateur rockhounds and the prices were great along with the selection. Much better than downtown Helen. Very friendly folks too. Did 3 buckets of gems and found some great stuff!

We went there with 10 people had a very nice time the 4 children loved mining for Rocks and fossiles. We did a family package and they got a lot of sfine, gems, fossils for all 4 children. They said they were closed online but we drove by because the one with all the Gems outside wound up being the one closed. I'm glad we went to Dukes Creeks the whole family had a great time. Thank you.

I highly recommend this place for anyone. It's a great place for kids, and the family. It's worth spending the money to get a bucket of dirt. The gentleman who served me was very nice and helped us identify rocks. If you ever need dirt, they can ship it anywhere in the world.

Must see!!! Very knowledgeable, we spoke a lot about gemstones and learned a lot. You can find really good local gemstone at this shop. Good quality rubies and other stones for a reasonable price.

Much better places to go! We got a bucket with very few small gems, 1 was a small sapphire that had already had one end cut off of it. One brother runs the gem mine , the other cuts the stones in downtown Helen. I think the cut off pieces go back into the buckets. You don't get a bucket of rocks, you get sand, with your choice of gems you are looking for. They know exactly what is in them.Will not go back!

When my fiancé and I walked into the store part of the business, the staff was exceptionally RUDE. They ignored us for almost 20 minutes, and I had to go out of my way to ask about the gold panning. The only reason I am giving 3 stars is because we enjoyed panning for gold; however, I do not know if we will return just because of the terrible service. There are other places to do these activities.. don't go here.

Yes you get a bucket of dirt that they throw different gem stones from 10 different mines they ship it in from. Did get many different gems in. At least we did when we bought the $60 bucket. Same owners as Out Post mining.
