HIGHLY recommend. The ALOHA vibe is strong here. Store is very clean and well organized but it's the employees that make this location stand out for me. Kind, helpful, EXTREMELY PATIENT. From the time I walk through the door until I leave, the employees are constantly buzzing about doing their daily duties but are never too busy to stop and ask customers if they need assistance. The care that goes into listening to the customer and taking the time to help is so rare these days. Home Depot in Hilo, HI has this ALOHA SPIRIT deep in their roots. This is the way. 🌺💜

Our preferred go-to home improvement store! With a very friendly staff and a great, well taken care of garden center, this store is our favorite. Better plant quality than on the mainland, but watch for spider mites!!As for the inside supply itself, you will definitely see the worsening economy & overseas shipment in the price, but that's to be expected.

Some of the employees need to be reminded why they are there.Some of the checkers will let you leave without your purchases if you forget to grab them.Customer service is a little lax.The small handful of employees who do like their job, are very helpful. And friendly.

I love this store. Great products, sales, and presentation. The only complaint I have are the 2 rude cashiers. It feels like they get PAID to have an attitude with you. My overall experiences at this location have been great, tho.

Store is great, but check-out is a mess!!! A mix of self check-out and assisted. And you never know if you can go ahead and scan at the "opened" station or someone is going to tell you to get back in line and wait for an associate. And another time they tell you to go ahead and just start scanning your self. Been in the store probably a dozen times over the summer and every time its different. Some consistency would be much appreciated. Mahalo.

Deserving of 3.5 stars, will add bonus half star because it's on an island, and I'm sure that limits availability.We come out every few months to visit family. I was in charge of building a Chiskshaw while I was out here for this trip.I'm certain there isn't a better hardware store in the vicinity. I'm am definitely a Home Depot fan. I will drive past several Lowes, or Ace to get to a HD if there's one around.But, and a big but, supplies are obviously limited. This will (expectedly) not have everything you're going to find on the mainland.The lack of stars, however, was NOT because of the limited resources. That part is understandable. The lack of stars is from the uneducated and mostly helpless employees.I loitered around the lumber area for an hour or more trying to get info on supplies needed. Some HD's will allow you to rip lumber. I asked one employee if they did here, and was told yes, and to wait by the saw and she would send someone over.Fifteen minutes later, without seeing any other employees in the vicinity, a different employee walked over with another customer. I asked if he could rip some lumber for me. I watched as he loaded the lumber, took out his trusty tape, and measured the length of the board and marked the middle. SMH.I advised i needed it ripped, not cut in half. "Yeah. We can't do that"..........I was able to find most of the stuff needed for the chickshaw, but luckily I'm handy and can make what I need that they didn't have in store.

I appreciate the kind and helpful employees. I know that if I need assistance someone can help me. The bathrooms are clean and check out is quick. I wish I had caught this name but a sweet, young employee helped me by loading the bags of cement into my trunk.

Worst Home Depot that I have visited in 7 states. Poor customer service. Most isles regularly blocked by staff or displays. Main doors are "permanently" closed, so you have to take loads through the small doors. To many negative to list.

I like this location. I asked two different people where something was and they knew exactly where it was. One lady walked me a few aisles away to the product. I asked a third person a question and knew the answer immediately.

You need very little assistance at this location. Especially if you have the Home Depot App on your cellphone. It'll direct you to the aisle number and bins to locate what you need and I if it's in-stock. If you do need assistance, the staff is quite helpful. I needed help locating materials for sanding wood. I came across an associate named Riki and asked if he worked in the department of which he didn't but was still able to help me not only find all materials necessary, but gave me detailed information on product knowledge and best way uses of them. I was so very impressed with this type of assistance because I didn't have to YouTube it or search online. And that - saved me a ton of time. Employees know there products there quite well.

Went to the home department looking at kitchen cabinets and the two women working in that department never said one word to us, just sat their talking story amongst themselves. No “how can we help you” just complete ignorance so I guess Home Depot Hilo doesn’t need any business because the customer service is in the toilet. Pretty sad

Usually has what I need to get the home and work projects done. There website/app need improvement when it come to shipping and availability. When stock is low you cant depend on it being if stock at all. Also often says will ship to Hawaii but won't tell that it cant until your about to check out.

They told me one could turn into a week on rented equipment, then downgraded me and double charged me for the privilege. Management does not follow through... 😒Management did follow through 4 months later and took care of everything so i added some stars.

The worst Home Depot ever seen on the Hillo side. All the management needs to be fired or sent back to school. Don’t know how to manage a store. I am a contractor spend about 100 K a year at Home Depot. This specific store location is always out of stuff or nobody knows where things are. Also, the rental place is a rip off. Brought my tool back 15 minute late. Charge me for 24 hours. 👎

If you know what you want and know where it is in the store then home depot is great but if you need assistance with products and how to use it then it's a huge issue. I went in for rat traps and baits I asked for the best that they had no one knew anything they just pointed to the area it was kept in asking the first person another one passed by and said the best stuffs is being marked down and pointed in the direction of some end cap, the next person I thought was going to show me where buy ended up taking me to pressure washers and then I realized he wasn't even interested in what the other guys asked. Wild goose chase. Then I asked a guy that was on a fork lift and only he took the time to tell me where the marked down items were. Home depot is a great store but the workers need more training in customer service. Praise the Lord for giving me patience. Hopefully, the staff higher up works on these issues so home depot can be a great place to shop for all you home improvement needs. Maybe gotta hire more locals to make people feel more at home. I’ve completed a few curbside pickups at the Hilo store but todays experience was amazing. Gail was outside retrieving a cart, saw me pull in to a stall and immediately assisted me. I was there for less than 5 minutes and on my way home with my item. Yayyy! Thank you, Gail!

I gave my visit to Home Depot a four because I was not able to buy all that I needed due to a time crunch. The first two employees seemed knowledge but definitely were not going to actually show me anything. They seemed two wrapped up in talking with each other. The third employee walked me to what I was looking for. The fourth employee was a great help at the self check out register and that’s all I saw was self check out. Could have spent several hundred dollars more there but as I said, my time ran out. Not just me thinking the service was bad. Witnessed another customer treating a sales associate rudely because of his perceived lack of customer service.

If I could do less than 1 star I would.. I called for availability of a concrete mixer that I was told 3 days prior was still in the shipping container. Ive called 4 times today. First 2 times I was hung up on one after 4 minutes waiting 2nd time 20 minutes. 3re time I called I got a so called manager that said she would take down my info and call me back right after helping the customer she is assisting.(then why did she answer my call if she was already assisting someone) over 1 hrs and 20 minutes and still no call back.. I call for the 4ty time just to have it ring (supposedly transferring me to someone who could help) for 4 minutes.. hmm thinking on just stop utilizeing home Depot for stuff.. pay off and cancel my credit card with you all too . Horrid customer service at Hilo home Depot

Really is hit or miss here. There are not many options to choose from. I feel like they would step up their game if there was more competition. They just don't care about customer service. I use the pro desk a lot, and most of them seem annoyed to be working and hold lots of private conversations with each other when putting in orders with the customers there. That might be why I have not had one order ever entered correctly by anyone other than Josh. Sadly, he is not always there when I need to order materials.

In one month, we have been to this store over 15 times and then some. The workers are so blah! No one offers to ask if we need help. I think all the time we had only 2 workers asked if we needed help and that was in the paint dept and plumbing.The appliance department needs customer service training. We waited for 2 workers to finish talking for over 45 minutes and not once did any of them. Stop to ask if we needed help. I had to ask them if one of them could help us we wanted to buy a refrigerator.Same with flooring....the lady helped us, but the number of times we stood in the aisle workers would just walk right past you. No one smiles, and workers are not very open to be approached.

Orders are slow, things like mulch and soil go out of stock near immediately, I would expect management to catch up with supply and demand someday but my over expectations leave me heart broken... They stopped carrying vermiculite which I use as a Square Foot Gardener so I have to go to Garden Exchange for that. When I buy lumber there are a bunch of messed up pieces to sort through. The plants sometimes carry pests I don't know if they spray with Neem or anything reasonable to prevent that. The staff is cool, but there are some top down issues that prevent me from rating higher.

Listen, this store is always busy anytime of day. Kevin helped us out to find a Dewalt pruner. He had to locate the item and it took some time to locate it, but he found it. He had to climbed up a ladder and grab it for us. Excellent customer service every time we go. Everyone is so helpful. Thanks Kevin and Homedepot staff for your help every time!

Staff are nice. Typical Home Depot. They no longer carry six packs of flowers for summer. Prices are high.
