It's a fantastic little cabin 20 minutes from West Yellowstone. We had a two bed room, and it was very comfortable. The beds are amazing, there was ample hot water and having the stove top gave us the option to cook.Everyone I met there was very friendly and helpful - we were able to extend our stay by an extra night, and I only wish we could have stayed longer.The location is great. You do hear some highway traffic during the day, but it quiets down at night (even during the day, it's not bad). AC is not needed because the nights are crisp and cool, and the stars are AMAZING! No closets, but there are places to hang your clothes. I just don't understand the negative comments.We had a fantastic time and it is a great place to stay if you are visiting Yellowstone, but we discovered that the Island Park area has a lot of natural beauty as well. Mesa Falls is a must-see while here. I wouldn't hesitate to come back here, and hope to do so one day.

If you want a one-of-a-kind, personalized fly-fishing trip, look no further! All of the staff at Drift Lodge & Fly Shop were so helpful (especially during the 10x I think I called!) from booking and adjusting our trip to the personalized guides. I booked a half day guided fly fishing trip for a group of three (my dad, brother, and myself). No one in the group had been fly fishing before and our first time was phenomenal to say the least! We are all very outdoorsy people and fly fishing was right up our alley. The trip was relaxing, rejuvenating, and incredibly peaceful. Our guide, Patrick, was knowledgeable and incredibly personable. Our fly fishing trip served as an awesome opportunity to bond as a family and make memories together. The three of us were smiling from ear to ear by the end of the trip!

We stayed in one of the new cabins and it was very clean and comfortable. The staff is friendly and the whole process from the time we booked our room to check in and check out was a good experience. I hightailed recommend the Drift Lodge to anyone that is going to Yellowstone Park and doesn’t mind being away from the crowds in West Yellowstone.

We were staying around the area and popped in the Fly Shop for some insight on fishing near the area. The guys were friendly and very helpful. We bought a few flies and supplies. My son caught his PB cutthroat and a brookie. Thanks for the help!Nearby activities: Great fishing.

Guide Service and Flyshop ReviewGreat shop full of great guys. Very unpretentious. Helpful with a great attitude whether you’re an expert or a novice. Garrett was our guide - we requested him after meeting him 2 years ago in Yellowstone. Garrett was enjoying a picnic on his day off and offered to help my kids catch some fish that day. That’s the type of people you find at this shop. Skip the tourist traps and get to Drift Lodge.

Liked - We were looking for an economical stay not far from the West Yellowstone entrance to Yellowstone National Park. This worked out well. It is about 17 miles to the West Yellowstone entrance. While the unit, a single queen cabin, was a little on the small side, it was clean and comfortable! If you are planning to get out and see Yellowstone or go fishing, the smaller size probably won't bother you. We enjoyed the cozy feel after a nice day in the Park. Our stay was chilly in late June, but the heater worked nicely and the small refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker all worked well and were just what we needed. There was internet service and we were pleased to find our unit included satellite TV! All the staff we encountered were pleasant and professional. I spoke with them via phone at least twice before our arrival during this unprecedented summer and each interaction was pleasant and helpful. If you are looking for a nice stay with a "rustic feel" and yet the modern conveniences of TV and internet, then this is a great option! We would definitely recommend staying here and would love to stay here again!Disliked - There was really nothing we didn't like about our stay here, though the one thing that would have been nice to have was access to an ice machine. I had hoped to get ice for our cooler on our day trips into Yellowstone, but there wasn't any.

The owner there is so greedy!! We were planning to visit Yellowstone and i booked three nights at this property a head of time and it was non refundable and then we saw the news a week ago that the park is closed due to heavy rain and flood and roads were broken. We contacted them to get a refund, but they still refused to give us a refund even though the park is closed. That is so greedy!! I would understand if they charged me for only one night! But they charged me the rest of two nights right after I contacted booking.com few days before I supposed to stay at their place.Stay out of this property if you don't want to lose money. They would charge you no matter what. Ninepolis hotel that is more than 2 hours away and is on the way to Yellowstone even gave us a money back even though it was non refundable cuz they understood our situation. That's how you suppose to run your business . Good luck !

Been trying to write these Guys a review for 2 days.I suck with names but I think it was Jay who is the man. There were 4 people there that day and every single one of them deserve a raise for tolerating my kids and i.They have the best personalities are super funny and exceptionally kind. Best experience I've ever had at a fly shop.Great shoo amazing flies butthe best part is the people. I'd buy these dudes a Beer anytime and kind of wish I got their numbers. Because I could use fishing buddies like this.God bless all of you. Made my day.Kris

The Fly shop is great! The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. I was staying in island park and I was able to get a decent spin rod and tackle for a very fair price. The advise and recommendations on the rooster tail for rainbow was right on. They love the sport not how much they can sell you. Hats off to the Drift fly crew! Thank you

If you are looking to spend a quality day on the water doing some fly fishing, look no further.While on a family vacation, we decided to take a day and try our luck fishing in the beautiful Yellowstone National Park. We did quite a bit of research online and decided to book our trip with the wonderful folks at The Drift Lodge and Fly shop. We had a total of eight anglers, with only one of which had any experience fly fishing.We were extremely fortunate to have two of the most incredibly talented and patient guides for our trip. They supplied everything we needed including waders, Fly rods, flies and most importantly their vast experience. Patrick and Garrett took all eight of us to their secret honey hole. The destination was incredibly beautiful and held a tremendous amount of trout. Patrick and Garrett worked tirelessly for the entire trip, patiently teaching everyone how to cast, hook and catch our prize Rainbow trout. We had a fantastic time and the trip was far beyond our expectation!It was truly an amazing experience and one we will never forget!Thank you very much to Patrick and Garrett and all the folks at the Drift Lodge and Fly Shop.

This place is spectacular, the staff are super responsive, we stayed 2 nights, and did a half-day of fishing with Patrick as our guide and he was great - really good teacher and had excellent advice on flies. The shop itself is really well stocked and again the staff were very helpful and had great suggestions. I would highly recommend booking in advance - we booked 2 months out - and highly recommend both guides and staying overnight.

We stayed up the hill in a VRBO On our vacation, cause we didn’t know about these cabins. But, we had a bad experience with another fly fishing guide outfit upstate, and fly fishing was on our bucket list for this vacation, when we walked in and told the guy behind the counter what we had experienced he said, “we’re gonna make this happen for you.” The next day Garret took 4 of us “old” people to cave falls in Yellowstone for one of the best memories of our lives. My husband is 72 and a disabled veteran just recovering from PE’s from Covid. Garret was right by his side, even rescued him when he got vertigo and went down on his hands in the current.This young man managed 4 seniors who had never done this before, he set us up with state of the art equipment and insured that we caught rainbow trout. What an amazing young man and wonderful staff.We told them we wanted a “river runs thru it” experience, and we got it all but Brad Pitt. LolHighly recommend these guys!

Very clean! The blankets and bed sheets smells like it just came out of the dryer!The staffs were very nice too. Price is unbeatable, free wifi is fast, water is hot, the room is warm over night while it snowed outside... I had a very good sleep here.The Lodge may be small, but it has everything, fridge, microwave, tons of towel s, etc...

We had a great experience with the fishing tour at Drift Lodge and Fly Shop. They were very professional and knowledgeable. I took my 3 boys with me ranging from 8-14, Justin our guide was great! He was very patient with us as beginners and was a great help with the boys. I was very impressed with everything. They were ready for us when we showed up to get outfitted and we were fishing in Yellowstone in no time. I would highly recommend them. My boys won’t stop bugging me to get them some fly fishing equipment!

We booked a fishing experience, through our lodging, and our family had a great afternoon. The fish don’t always cooperate, but Pat and Garrett were excellent teachers and worked hard to put our family on the fish. It’s tough when you’re not catching, but even our kids said they had a great time. Thanks to Pat and Garrett for a great memory!

I called every place in the area looking for a guide who knew the local waters, and all were booked up for over two months out. I walked into Drift Lodge, expecting the same old story, and Brent didn't even blink as he said "let's get you set up!". He showed me pictures of Grant with three huge fish from the day before (and a bigger grin on his face!) and said, "If Grant's not guiding, he's fishing" and I said, "That's the guy I want!". What an outstanding choice!Grant Sergeant is a fantastic guide! His positive, upbeat attitude towards everything made him a real joy to fish with. Yesterday on the Madison in West Yellowstone was one of my all-time favorite fishing days. I have been hiring guides for twenty years now, and I can truly say Grant is at the very top of my list of outstanding guides. My knees are feeling the effects of many sports and military injuries from my early life, and he was very careful to take me places with easy access and plenty of fish, and more than once saving me from a sit-down in the river! An unexpected experience was when a family of four huge otters popped up in the river very near us and complained to us for messing with their fishing hole! It was better than a NatGeo documentary!When I got home from thiss half-day trip my wife kept looking at me and saying "You're still smiling!", and I said, "this was the best day of our six week vacation!"Thanks for a day I'll never forget!Buck Lansford

In early June I made a reservation at the drift lodge and fly shop for July 10-11, shortly afterwards I realized that the reservation should have been for July 09-10. I called the drift lodge and was told to cancel the reservation through booking.com. I explained that booking.com indicated that i would not be receive a refund for the reservation through their website and the employee that I spoke with (who did not identify himself) told me that information was correct but once the drift lodge could confirm the reservation cancellation email from booking.com they would make a refund to me for the cost of the room less $50. I felt that was reasonable and I agreed. A couple of days later I spoke with a guy named Patrick when I called to confirm when I would see the refund, I could clearly hear someone in the background coaching Patrick to tell me that I would receive a $110 refund by the end of the week for sure. By Friday I had not noticed the refund and I so I placed another call to the drift lodge to clarify and the man who answered the phone (who also did not identify himself) said that he had no idea what I was talking about or why anyone would tell me that I would receive a refund, as I would not be getting one. I protested, explaining that I had called multiple times and was given the same information each time-that I would be receiving a $110 refund. At this point I said, " it sounds like regardless of what Patrick says you're not going to honor the refund" to which he replied, "that's exactly right". If I had known what would of happened, I would have kept the reservation and spent another night in the area. This is a very poor business practice and I feel that based on what I was told, I should be entitled to a refund. I definitely wouldn't recommend staying here to anyone. Not to mention the fact that I've read several reviews from what I'm guessing is the owner, being really awful to people.

Easy check-in. The owners replaced towels when notified. Great value compared to most of the accommodation around Yellowstone. Good wi-fi and the kids enjoyed the cartoons channels available on the t.v.A word to the owners, new non-stick cookware would be appreciated as the Teflon is starting to peel from the bottom of most pans. Also a pancake spatula, pizza cutter, and more cooking cooking tools would be helpful.Otherwise, great stay.

Pat gets five stars. Pat guided my brother and I who are amateurs at best. Pat showed great patience, knowledge, and a genuine desire to help up catch trout. He also was able and willing to teach us and not just get a fish on our hooks. Everything you need is included or bring your own gear. If I get a chance to return to Yellowstone to fly fish, I most definitely will be looking to go with Pat and the Drift Lodge Fly Shop. Also, the shop has everything you need at a fair price.

Stayed 3 nights here in September 2018. Picked this place to be far enough away from Yellowstone to avoid the crowds but close enough to drive in. Nice little clean cabin with a kitchen. Brought a power strip since we read a review that outlets were scarce. That was a good recommendation.The cabin was perfect for what we needed.Bed was comfortable and Wi-Fi was fast.We will certainly use drift lodge again!

Love the atmosphere and helpfulness of the owners! The fly shop is beautiful. So much to do around the area. I have 3 small children and they loved every minute of our adventure. This is the place to stay if you want to feel comfy and cared for!

Lodge was very clean. It gave more space and isolation from neighbors than a hotel room. Kitchen area was perfect if you wanted to cook a meal instead of dining out. Also not a long drive to west entrance of Yellowstone.
