We were hit by a tornado in March. A massive tree fell and ripped off a corner of our 100 year old cement tile roof. I knew we needed someone special to fix it. We called Renaissance. We began to have water damage to our 2nd floor ceiling. After contacting a couple of roofing companies, and realizing that not all roofing companies repair clay roof tiles, we had Renaissance come to inspect. Greg was very knowledgeable and answered all my questions, and provided options as to what could be done. Quote for work was provided in a timely manner and was able to start work sooner than originally stated. Day of job, team showed up promptly to do work and was very professional. They completed the work quickly as well. Pictures of completed job was sent to me and work looked great. It has rained a few times since the job was completed and no additional leaking. As a homebuilder, real estate developer and now long-retired software entrepreneur for longer than I want to remember, I do remember that it is very rare that I get to write a thank you letter because of a job so well done that I don’t know where to begin.The background: We have owned a 116-year-old beautiful Queen Ann farmhouse in rural Ottawa, Illinois for the past 18 years. It had the original Ludowici Terra Cotta tile roof in reasonably good condition. In August of 2020 a terrible storm came through multiple states and did a great amount of damage in the Ottawa area. After almost two years of struggling with the insurance company about the extent of damage to the roof, your Greg Derry, as an expert rep for Renaissance, hired by the insurance company, came with other experts in the Fall of 2021 to survey the damage and recommend a settlement which had become rather heated—because of the importance of that roof to the architecture of the home and the steep replacement cost. Fairness is often enhanced by expertise in the world of insurance settlements. Greg’s fair and accurate assessment of damage allowed us to settle with the insurance company, and they agreed to a complete roof replacement, and that included all the tile, flashings, valleys, and built-in gutter systems. Though the independent appraiser that I had hired to represent me and had good knowledge of historic Ludowici roof systems, I decided to work with Renaissance because of the impression and caring and professional attitude that Greg represented.After ordering materials and complete scaffolding of the home, the work commenced, with Project Manager Tom Bunders and Foreman Ray Kamppainen leading the charge of field work that lasted for several weeks throughout the Fall of 2022. While I can’t say enough good things about these three gentlemen, everyone I worked with-- whether phone, email, text, or in person--couldn’t be more professional and accommodating. Each one of them exhibit pride in their work, and each one of them expressed pride in their company. I will say from personal experience in the trades that that is rare in today’s world. These folks aren’t just tradesmen, they are expert craftsmen, and they are the kind of folks that the world needs to keep some of our beautiful architecture alive.Thanks to Renaissance for being in this business, and thanks to your Team that made it happen for us. They didn’t cut corners, and they kept a safe and immaculate job site each day. The copper work done by Ray and his team was just amazing. Keep up the good work and consider me as your very satisfied and thankful customer. I am so proud of that roof that I will personally give tours and answer questions of any future prospective customers. It is easily the most beautiful roof in Ottawa. Our tile roof was destroyed in an April 2020 hale storm in the Chicago area. We have used Renaissance for over twenty years so we turned the situation over to them. Through their five month long persistence, State Farm ultimately agreed to a full roof replacement. The job took six months. We actually miss a little not having the crews around. They were polite, friendly, kept us abreast of progress, knew exactly what they were doing, as quiet as possible, and left the yard as it was before they started the job. Renaissance Roofing provided an exceptional service when restoring the original glazed tile roof on our 1925 historic home. We have an historic house in the Northeast with highly specialized, antique, ceramic tiles made by Ludowici. For two decades, (previously James and Jason and currently Eric and Norma) these folks have taken tremendously good care of us. Thanks so much to the team at Renaissance. They’ve done restoration work on part of the roof at our property prior to us moving in. I reached out with questions and they were super helpful and informative. We recently had a roof leak become apparent in the part of the roof not yet restored. This summer we had our 100-year-old clay tile roof repaired by Roger and his team at Renaissance. They had to undertake quite a bit of sub-roof repair on this century-old home as well. In fact, they were the most conscientious people and hardest workers we've ever hired!! Who knew roofing could be such an art form? While being surrounded by scaffolding for weeks is not fun, their commitment, clear communication, respectful treatment of the yard and space, and enthusiastic, earnest efforts made it tolerable/even enjoyable :) The people at Renaissance really take pride in their work and treated our home like it was theirs. We had a serious leak in the flashing of our roof which had gone unnoticed (not showing in the ceiling) for years. It had rotted the main SW Support Beam in our 1993 French tile Roof. Renaissance diagnosed the problem, put in an immediate temporary fix and took care to build out a better than original fix. They also tuned up the whole roof. I recommend them highly. Renaissance Roofing Inc. came highly recommended by an historic architect here in Wisconsin. Our project is an almost one-hundred year old chapel/rest house at our local cemetery. It has suffered years of neglect through some very unfortunate circumstances which we as a board are now trying to rectify. Our first phase of this project was to secure the roof to buy us some time. Our experience with Renaissance has been remarkable. We had an intricate repair job of a Mansard 'Roof' and siding five stories above the ground in a 60 year old condo building not always constructed with the highest standards (we blame Mafia connections but of course have no evidence). The job was bid in detail and we thought we would be lucky if it got done to plans given past history with work on this building. THEN CAME COVID- 19. Our Village added tight requirements and the ancients in our building (including me!) were very concerned that the requirements be enforced. The work date came. The work was done without ANY problem. It is hard to believe but it is true. Work was completed, roof is beautiful, everybody is thrilled including me!

They may do good work, however their drivers are rude and reckless. Driving down 90 heading east he was doing at least 90mph while pulling a trailer, cutting people off. When it was time for a merger he would not let anyone in. Just rude driving.

They communicated perfectly - For example, we had some rainy weather so they had to start a bit later than initially anticipated, and they called every time there was a delay, even if it was by just a day. They walked through the attic a few times to make sure the estimate was still up to date, and if they found something unexpected, the offered a number of options to fix it. If you need a clay tile roofer, this is the company to use.
