Jennifer in the office was very helpful, very transparent about costs upfront, helpful in understanding potential costs and options. Jon was very friendly and transparent. We had specific concerns we wanted inspected (not related to a home purchase) and Jon helped me to understand what he would need to review in order to provide a thorough and accurate report. I felt Jon was honest and transparent in his evaluation, giving us his professional opinion as well as his thoughts if this were his own home and how he would handle the situation. Overall very positive experience and good follow-up. Definitely recommend!

The city of Urbana recently dispatched an inspector to our rental homes, and it turned out to be extremely beneficial as he identified areas in need of attention.This prompted us to wonder about our own beautiful house - one that outwardly appeared fine, but we wondered if there were hidden issues we weren't aware of.So, I googled and found Jon, co-owner of Finest Home Inspection.Right from our initial phone conversation, Jon's demeanor struck me as patient and understanding, instilling a sense of comfort. Feeling reassured, I invited him for a comprehensive home inspection, encompassing every nook and cranny inside and outside our house.Jon arrived promptly, beginning with an exterior inspection. He spent approximately three hours meticulously examining every aspect of our home, leaving no area unchecked.This thorough approach not only bolstered our confidence in our residence but also underscored Jon's commitment to delivering a thorough inspection. His professionalism and attention to detail were consistently evident throughout the process.The detailed report we received was comprehensive, outlining all facets of the property and identifying both its strengths and areas requiring attention. Jon's clear explanations, coupled with accompanying photos, facilitated our understanding of the home's condition.The outcome exceeded our expectations as Jon uncovered hidden problems. For example, four water leaks (!!!) - one within the furnace, one outside, one originating from the built-in humidifier, and one beneath the basement sink. If we could give Jon at Finest Home Inspection a 100-star rating, we would! After making an offer, and purchasing, a 100-year old home in Illinois, we hired Jon to do a Home inspection and Radon test. The extent to which Jon inspected the home was beyond our wildest expectations!!! Second only to the inspection, the 51-page report that followed, along with the Certified Radon Inspection report, blew us away. His reports were thorough, extensive, and detailed with pictures, explanations, and possible corrections. THEN...the two-hours long phone conversation going through each and every question we had. To say that we are impressed by Jon, and Finest Home Inspection, is the greatest understatement! Suffice it to say that we wholeheartedly recommend Jon, and his company, to anyone and everyone needing a thorough home inspection + or - Certified Radon testing. Recently was in the market for a home inspector for a home my wife and I were making an offer on. Jon came highly recommended from a friend but I still called a few others prior to reaching out. I knew pretty quickly after talking with his assistant that our experience with Jon Ellis would be different.Jon is an expert on home inspectors but does not make you feel less than when going into detail on the home. We met him at the property once he concluded the inspection and he walked us through everyone. This is uncommon. Not only that but he has made himself available for follow ups, given advice on what he would do, and just made us feel very much like he was in this with us.Jon is friendly, an expert, experienced, and the one who does all the inspections himself. My friend's who recommended him say that they even call him from time to time long after he has done their inspection on their current house and he would not only answer but also remember their home and being able to speak to where something was.O, and one last thing, he is as competitive price wise with anyone in town. If you want a down to earth, experienced, responsive, humble home inspector, you need to consider Jon. He will make the process as easy as possible.
