We booked this hotel over a week in advance for the night before the solar eclipse. I created an account, booked, and received a confirmation email. The day we arrived, we were told our reservation was cancelled due to an issue with the credit card. I never received a cancellation email or any notice that we would not have access to our room. We were left with no options in Champaign as every hotel was booked at this point, and had to backtrack over an hour north away from the eclipse path to get a hotel. The front desk was unhelpful and when I called customer service, they said that the department I would need to speak with was not currently on working hours. No one was willing to assist or help us after we had the rug pulled out from under us and Red Roof was completely unapologetic. I will not be booking with them ever again as they are not trustworthy.

Had a decent experience during our stay. The first room assigned to us had not been cleaned after someone else’s stay. But the front desk staff immediately assigned a new room as soon as they were notified. The room was clean, the place is dog friendly. There is no extra charge for pets. Ample parking. The location is five minutes from the university. This is a good option for a quick stay if you are visiting the university.

I had an awesome experience staying at the Red Roof Inn in Champaign. The vibe was young and vibrant, perfect for someone like me looking for a comfortable yet hip place to crash. The rooms were modern and stylish, with all the tech amenities I needed to stay connected. The location was spot-on, close to downtown and the university scene, making it easy to explore and have a great time. Plus, the staff were super chill and always ready to help out. Overall, I'd definitely recommend the Red Roof Inn for any young traveler looking for a cool place to stay in Champaign.

Well my hubby and I and our pooch are staying 1 night. This is on December 30th 2023. There are a couple of things that I seen that could be better. I give 5 stars because the Room was clean, the gentleman that checked us in was very nice showed my hubby the room and then called to make sure it was okay with us. The reason for only 4 stars on the room is because they could update their Pillows and possibly get HDTV, so the picture on the t.v. doesn't look blurry. The microwave worked and refrigerator is small. But, everything WORKS! that is a huge Plus for us. It is a small room has 2 full size beds the laboratory/bathroom is quite small but VERY CLEAN!! Maybe add another chair to sit in. We have stayed in other Red Roof Inns from Illinois to Florida and there have been a couple that we will not go back to because they were hideous. This Red Roof Inn was clean and seemed quite. We would stay here again. There isn't any USB outlets but we didn't need them. It was a fair price for the room.Rooms: 2-full size beds, everything worked, 1 chair could use another chair. And better pillowsWalkability: There's places everywhere around here. You could walk to everythingNoteworthy details: This room was very clean and while I seen the other reviews from this hotel and some were good and some not so good, but for the price it's a Great place to stay if you need a place to lay your head for 1 or 20 nights, and they allow pets for FREE! The gentleman that waited on us was extremely nice and very professional. Oh! And the heat worked, which was a Blessing because it was chilly! 😆

The pros:Room was super clean, no weird smells, no bugs, no stains, no random hairs that don't belong to me or mine.Great location, literally a few minutes from a TON of restaurants, retail, etc.Loved the desk chair!Wifi didn't give me any trouble at all.Grounds are nice! I stayed later in the year and the grass being allowed to go a little wild I think is beautiful. The owners are also into the local wildlife and have designated a couple of trees for the squirrels, which I think is adorable and great.The cons:Rooms and hotel are VERY dated.Mattresses (for my room) were so thin and so worn out that it was basically like sleeping on a pile of springs covered in a sheet. It's workable, but not easily.Pillows might as well be carpet. Heavy, old, not fluffy anymore.Small TV that's at least 15 years old.NO USB outlets anywhere. (I'm in tech, I need USBs and due to circumstances couldn't get any).Floor could use a redoing.No breakfast and they charge $5 for a dollar tree bowl of cereal.Walls are kinda thin, can't hear in detail what's being said, but can hear enough to know what the thumping is. (Poor dude didn't last a whole minute).Other than that, I really don't have any complaints. I got what I paid for. I chose to change hotels though for the USB issue and my back issues. If you are considering this hotel, 8/10 I'd recommend, it's great for what it is :)Safety: I felt safe staying here. There are cameras everywhere and there's always someone at the front desk to assist.Food & drinks: In less than 3/4 of a mile there are at least a dozen options for food, and even more for retail. Great location tbh.

I was recently there for the weekend. They try to get you to put down a $100 deposit on a room for “security measures” when you’ve already payed online for the hotel. The key to the hotel didn’t work, was locked out of our room in the cold. Went to talk to front desk over 8 times, they didn’t give a ****. Extremely lazy staff. Found roaches behind the bed and crawling on the nightstand. Was also bit twice during my sleep. I highly advise you choose another location, and I will be working to get a refund.

Visited a little while back but I wanted to come and review this place. My friends and I stayed around March this year and to be honest, it was in quite a very separated area from everything else but it was a place to stay. Nothing special, the rooms were decently clean from our experience. It was a two queen bed and with 3 other people staying (4 including myself). Genuine pleasant stay and the staff were nice. The cleaning people were very nice to provide new sheets and other things like towels and garbage bags. I would come back here if I had no other option but we came to visit to college campus. Decent stay!

Liked the dog policy. But the hospitality of the staff was very, very, very subpar. Paid for room in advance, not nothing when we would arrive, informed them of that. Arrived at 4 am, traveling from iowa back to Indiana, and denied a one hour late late check out. And got attitude for asking to move rooms, since there was a group of guys partying right outside our room, due to our dog. Thankfully, she was a good girl and ignored them... make that trip a couple of times a year will never stay there again. Would rather sleep in the car at a rest stop.

this place stinks like mold it’s very smelly and ugly looking and what’s worse it’s been run by very bad employees who are not oriented to help customer and I will share my experience.what happened is that I was driving and I made a reservation at 2 AM to stay in this place when I showed up at 3:10 AM I was told that they have a cut off time at 3 AM for check in and that my reservation because of that was made for the next date and with checking at checking in at 3 PM so I asked him are you able to change the reservation in your computer since I already paid for he can just change it to another day and I can still go and sleep for a few hours and check out in the morning at 11 AM, but he said that he was unable to do that and that they do not offer any refunds and that it was my mistake and that if I wanted to stay I would have to have this reservation wasted till $60 plus $80 to stay which would come out to 140 Just stay for a few hours and sleep Which I did not appreciate I have left and this is the reason why I’m giving a review just to let you know that this place is scam with no refunds policy, stinks and in general bad idea

Such a pleasant surprise to find a super clean room, so close to the highway. At an affordable rate.Patel was at the desk when I checked in and he was a delight.Not sure who was on duty in the am but he was equally wonderful.I left money on the night stand. Not because they had to clean up after me (I only slept there) but just because I was so pleased at how clean the room was.I will stay there on my trip back to Ohio.Rooms: Had everything I would have needed….microwave, fridge, ample washcloths and towels…comfortable bed and pillows. Zero complaints. 😊

I had a really excellent stay at this Red roof. The hotel rooms were nice and clean with no bugs or any issues. Really though the staff were the standout at this location. They were all very very pleasant and helpful. There was a younger gentleman who checked me and I missed his name on September 13th he was super pleasant and made sure I got the discount for my Red roof membership. He also made sure was the best discount he could find me. And then when I checked out Bobby was super nice and helpful. He offered me coffee and then found a local dog part for me so I could take my puppies to run around before we got back on the road. Honestly highly recommend this Red roof. I know some of them are a little sketchy but this is one of the better ones. I didn't have any trouble while I was sleeping no loud noises or people being crazy.

I stay at many different motels across the country and this is one of my favorites to date. Very comfortable beds, clean updated rooms/bathrooms, daily room service, rare office desk option for computer work, fast wifi, on-site washer & dryer, receptionist availability virtually 24-7 all at a fair price. Near the freeway but still very quiet and neighbors all very quiet and nice. Convenience of close proximity to shopping, restaurants and auto shops also adds to the overall value of this establishment. Stayed here for 2 weeks + 1 day for business and would not hesitate to come back if I’m ever in the area again.

I have to say this was the best stay I had all year and I stay alot all over the country. He saw I was with my family I'm a left below the knee amputee and I have a knee scooter. The attendant at the front desk helped us to the room and bring me fresh cold water. A flock of geese entertained us as we left. King deluxe handicap best for the stars. I know

I was there two days ago. First the faux leather office chair was torn and ripped. They didn't even bother to polish it to make it somewhat presentable. The trash can looked like it hasn't been wiped for years. The toilet didn't flush well. The only thing I am ok with was the staff was friendly and I didn't complain because of that. It was $80 a night and for $6 more I went to stay at Hampton which is 1000% better. I would not stay at Red Roof Inn ever again.

i drive across country non stop and i prefer to stay in motels versus hotels. i like to be able to pull my car up to my door and get things out of it on an as needed basis. so i'm constantly searching for nice ones and saving them in my phone for next time. this red roof inn will get starred and i'll be back next time i pass this way. Bobby at the front desk was extremely friendly and accommodating. the rooms were clean and had everything i needed. red roof is a chain and has many different caretakers so results may vary. this was a good one. 4 out of 5 will stay again

This is my first stay at a red roof inn.UIUC is less than a 10 minute drive away and it was the most affordable place around. Everywhere else was wanting nearly $300 a night.For the price, I was impressed.My room was very clean, even under the mattress.The a/c until worked perfectly and having the option to have the fan on constant did a decent job giving me a constant background noise to mask the road noise.They had a complimentary snack bar and water bottle for breakfast.Room was small, bathroom was very small, towels were cheap quality, but all of that can be expected for this price.

The room was filthy dirty. Floor turned your feet and the white towel black. Also, there were bugs (little black beetle things) all over. We saw at least 9 in our room. And when we told the man at check out, he made no effort to make any reparations. I will not be returning there ever again. The only good thing about staying there was it was close to food.

This hotel is a great place to stay. They have reasonable rates and the best room service.Rooms: The rooms are always clean and very comfortable. The linen is always clean and smells good.Nearby activities: There is an outlet mall a couple of blocks away. Then there is a big mall close by. There are stores all around the area . Nearby parks and restaurants are also near this hotel.
