Hired this company in February 2021, promo response to complete a roofing job . Have been trying for two years to get completion on incomplete work (Gutter length short). They were Johnny on the spot when getting my money. Have not been responsive since.called yesterday (3/5/2024) informing Anthony my gutters were allowing rainwater to seep in. Today 3/6/2024 Anthony has forwarded all callls to voicemail to avoid honoring our contractual agreement. DO NOT hire this company they do not honor contractual agreements or respond to mishaps created by them in repairing roofing or gutters, etc.

Good job. Good price. I called Affordable Roofers and Masonry Company and they came out the next day to look at my chimney and roof to examine a leak. They took detailed pictures of the problem and texted them to me so I could see exactly what was happening. John (the owner) also was able to work with me on pricing and provide a great price for the work. Once the work was completed, he sent pictures as well to show everything had been done. I needed to have a new chimney cap put on, the flashing of the chimney repaired, and some shingles nailed down and caulked into place. John said to call him next heavy rain and make sure everything is okay. Overall a great experience.

Western Suburbs of Chicago, I dealt with John Tan, the owner who was a great communicator. He called me back swiftly and came out to my home that evening to give an estimate. I had one layer of shingle and wanted one more new layer. John gave me a fair price and his crew arrived when he said they would. The crew was respectful and worked very quick. They cleaned up and John was there as they finished to ensure the job was done well.I would definitely deal with this company again. I recommend them highly. Call and speak to John and you can tell he is a salt of the earth person the minute you talk to him. Everything he told me was how it happened. No surprises. He was such a gentleman also. 5 stars.

DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY.I would give less stars if possible.John Tan (owner / proprietor) presents himself as a trustworthy, old school Chicago guy with immense experience in roofing. Unfortunately, I was sold a bill of goods on his services. He was hired to replace and silicone coat the membrane of our flat roof on the main area as well as replace / repair the membrane of the dog house. Everything seemed on the up and up and work on the main part of the roof was completed. Unfortunately, I did not take enough time and effort to inspect all of the work as the dog house is 10 ft above the normal roof, and is not at all easily accessible (simply looking up there using an 8ft ladder is dangerous). He had not done ANY work on the dog house (this is the roof area that is above the stairs which go to the roof). I had been given a written guarantee for all roof work for 7 years, spelled out in the signed contract, for all of the roof work, as well as yearly inspections from his company to perform preventative maintenance during these 7 years. Less than a year later, heavy rains are falling and we notice leaks. After inspecting the dog house area, it is clear his crew did not do the contracted (and paid for) work required. The entire dog house roof is still untouched.I reached out to him (25 October 2021), and was promised this work would be completed "within the next 5 days." I sent pictures of the clearly unfinished work. About a week later, an employee contacted me and inspected the area. He, in very clear terms, explained that the dog house area was definitely the root cause to our issue, and it was clear that a repair / replacement was not done in that area. He applied some stop gap measures (roof patching / quick solution type things) and stated that these fixes should mitigate leakage until a proper repair was performed.After several more calls and texts, John eventually stopped responding to all call, texts, and other means of communication. As of the time of this review (5 March 2022), he still refuses to respond, despite the signed contract. I'm pursuing all avenues possible to have them complete the work.If you are in a similar situation, I would be happy to speak with you so we can pool our efforts towards a resolution.Service: Roof repair

I have never worked with roofing contractors and Affordable Roofers was the first number I called based off their name. John Tan really did make it affordable for my family to have our home roof redone. He instantly recognized where our leak was coming in and worked with us to have a roof that will last 30 year. Even though we only paid for certain labors to be performed on the roof John allowed extra services to be done on the roof for little to no cost. His crew came in and finished majority of the work in one day to my surprise! Pleasure to work with them and hope to work with them for other housing projects when needed.

Great Service!! Yesterday, when the snow was melting on our roof, the ceiling in our laundry room started leaking in several places!! It was getting dangerously close to the furnace so I needed help fast!I called John the owner and I am sure he could tell by my voice that we really needed his help! He was very nice and calming. He said he was finishing a job and they would be by us in about two hours.He was right on time!! He and another roofer got busy right away and in less than an hour the leaks stopped! Phew!I was worried about how much this would cost but John told me the pricing as soon as he looked over the roof situation and when he says "they are affordable" he means it! He also took before and after pics so we could see what was done.They put a seal around the chimney, vents and open seams they saw on the roof. He will come back as soon as weather permits to replace some bricks and tuckpoint the chimney. I wish they did more than roofs & masonry because I would not hesitate to use them again and again!

My building has a flat roof and was leaking considerably. I am located on the far south east side of Chicago but I still contacted John at Affordable Roofing and he came out the next day, gave me an estimate and within two days they were working on my roof. After replacing a lot of wood they installed a modified membrane roofing system over the entire roof and flashings. We have had snow storms and now we are having rain and the roof is not leaking. I highly recommend Affordable Roofers.Services: Roof inspection, Roof repair

This company will steal your money! After paying the company their deposit, they began work and just patched up brick that was suppose to be replaced. They breached contract, and asked for thousand of dollars more on the initial quote. I called the company many times and they are not responsive. They did not refund my deposit back and I'm going after them legally. No company should take advantage of people. Everyone works hard for their money. Stay away from this company!— UPDATE: ————- The company replies back to my review to have never received a deposit from us, but John Tan, President of the company has been in contact with our attorneys trying to settle the case. He now has stopped taking the phone calls from the attorney and is not taking accountability for his fraud actions. Stay away from this company. They will steal your money! I will not remove any of my reviews when it comes to the company until you sign per our contract that you are now avoiding to sign! You are a fraud sir! They need to close your business down! I will work with my attorneys and BBB to shut your business down. John Tan, President you are a fraud sir! We work hard for our money! We are raising a family and for you to steal from us is wrong! STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY! There are so many other reliable companies that won’t steal your money!

I have a high pitched roof. A few companies would not take the job. I had a great experience with John and his crew. They were prompt, did great work and worked with me on price. I am even going to use them to rehab my front porch. From first phone call to completion of job, two days.

Very disappointed in the work that was done by this company. Apart from providing a low estimate and then consistently piling on more costs without a contract, the work that was done was unprofessional and rushed. They did an ok job patching some old shingles, but a rotting and broken fascia was literally just stuffed with silicone that was left dripping out. The “repair” almost looks worse than the original problem. On top of that, cigarette butts were left all over the property and loose nails keep turning up. The one-man crew did all the work while the foreman sat in his truck chain smoking all day. At one point the worker was left alone while the foreman did another bid. The ladder fell from the house and damaged a fence, leaving the worker stranded on the roof. I had to go get the ladder back up (not a huge deal! Good thing I was available to help and able bodied...) but the damage to the fence wasn’t fixed. Think twice before hiring this group.Services: Gutter repairs, Roof repair

I highly recommended this company. I’ve had them replace and repair several properties. Crew is always on time. The owner stands behind his work. Always helpful. And they actually fix the problem. I’ve shingles replaced. They’ve done Tuck pointing As well as new roof. Stay away! Complete scam! John Tan kept telling me I needed more and more work done, and then had a couple of guys work for a day and did not fix the problem for $5,000. He didn't do the other work he was supposed to do and didn't come back to correct the leaks that are still happening after guaranteeing his work for that all that money I gave him. He didn't show up after I took off work multiple times and has avoided my calls. This company has no integrity, avoid! He also advertises on Craigslist, search for his name, I will be posting there as well.

Absolute liar and outright terrible service provided by John Tan. My husband, Wilson, posted below and this fraud attempted to reply saying we're not in his records. Well, posting the contract here to warn anyone considering using your services. Bate and switch, said they were going to do one thing and never fulfilled the contract. In the process of settling the matter with attorneys and they flaked after agreeing to reimbursement. Will be posting to BBB and IL Attorney General next.
