I am pleased to share a very good experience with Matthews Roofing. We have used them for many years, starting with Dave Shaughnessy about thirty years ago. Our recent roof replacement and installation of four skylights on our flat roof is excellent. Miguel Garcia and his crew are very professional and experienced. Mr Garcia was always available for questions or input, and came often to the worksite. He kept us updated with the schedule working around rainy days. Every team member was polite and friendly and cleaned up everything perfectly upon completion. I would highly recommend Matthews Roofing to everyone.

We have used Mattew's roofing for our condo building in the past to repair a large soft spot, seal around termination bars and pipes, etc. They do honest, quality work. They do not up-sell you or try to make you spend money before you need to. When it is time to do put on a new roof in a few years, I will be calling them. I know they will do a high quality job!

Damage had been caused to the roof by a neighbors tree which Matthew's had confirmed for us. Since it had been 20 years since they had replaced the roof, we decided to go ahead and replace the whole roof and gutters. Miguel Garcia and crew were courteous and professional. It took a while to get going, but the permit was dropped off a few days before the work started and we were notified the evening before. All the work and the gutters were done in a day. The crew cleaned as best they could while they were working. The old roof and gutters were hauled away. The price was exactly as quoted with no surprises (other than the permit, which the Village charged Michael's $440).

I don't understand how this company has 5 stars. It must be for recent new customers. In my experience, their work and customer service is very bad. They put up my roof and did not install some areas correctly. I found out when I had an inspector come out due to a roof leak. They explained that I needed to call the roofing company because they did not not install the shingles right close to the chimney. I called Matthew Roofing twice over a month and half ago. They still have not called me back after telling me their manager would be giving me a call. Honestly, I don't know why I would expect them to fix a job they didn't do right in the first place. I will be finding another roofing company. I will also follow up with a 2nd review showing photos of their bad work and promoting the new roofing company that will have to fix what they did wrong. I would not suggest anyone use Matthew Roofing, even if they do offer better pricing. It will hurt you more in the end. My roof is leaking and now have internal damage because they did a half job and won't come out to fix something so simple. What a shame. I also tried to upload a photo but google is rejecting it for some reason. I will try to upload photo on yelp.

As a first time homeowner, I expected the roof replacement process to be an incredibly painful experience and a logistical nightmare. But Miguel Garcia and the Matthews Roofing team made the process incredibly easy on me. From the very first visit to scope out the project, Miguel was very professional, responsive, and helpful as he explained what needed to be done. Throughout the job, they clearly communicated the scope of the project, the timeline, and took care of everything. Pricing was consistent with the other quotes that I received but the professionalism of Miguel and his team made the Matthews Roofing team a no-brainer. Hopefully this is the last roof I'll have to put on this property for a long time, but I'll definitely be looking to Matthews Roofing for roof replacements on my future properties. My experience with Matthews Roofing - Keep looking for a reputable company. Matthews refused to compensate me for $1600 cleaning the clogged gutters, catch basin lines and the thousand of shingle marks left on my house and my neighbors. The photos show the BAG OF SHINGLES, NAILS and STAPLES left in my gutter after paying for their BEST GAF replacement roof installed. FIVE DAYS after they finished work NOONE from Matthews bothered to follow up to see if everything was OK. GAF makes quality roofs, the roofers worked in 100+ temps but the manager PHIL WALTERS dropped the ball. Mr Walters threatened to sue me for not calling him about the problems immediately, which anyone walking on the property could clearly see the damaged walls. KEEP LOOKING FOR A REPUTABLE ROOFER !!!

Miguel and his crew replaced a flat roof on my building after it sprung a leak. Miguel provided great info and options from which to decide how to proceed. His team was quick and I found them to be upfront and fair. In a situation where someone could really screw you over by finding extraneous work, Miguel was clear when certain things did have to be done and more importantly, when no extra work had to be done. My condominium association hired Matthews Roof to replace our building's roof. They were very flexible with the owners' schedules but largely adherent to their own (uncontrollable weather delays notwithstanding). The team onsite was thorough, courteous, tidy, and Miguel Garcia, the project coordinator, made himself available (often at odd hours) to answer any manner of questions. While the roof is the building's roof, my family lives on the top floor, so it is literally OUR roof. My house has been in the family for 100 years. My grandmother used Matthews roofing years ago. So I called them when I needed a roof. And I called. And I called. 4 times. You initially speak with a receptionist who forwards your call to the estimator- Miguel. The estimator called back and I wasn’t home. Then he left a snippy message like this is my fault. Then he would call and not leave a message, but it takes it takes me some time to get to the phone. Finally, they gave me his phone number. We made an appointment and he said he’d call 1/2 hour before he came. No show. I called the company and it seems he was out of town and blew me off. If that is how they treat an estimate, I can just imagine that they won’t be on time for the actual ‘doing’ of the roof. Can’t trust them.

RUN THE OTHER WAY. Our building (a 100-year-old, six-unit condo building on Chicago’s north side) hired Matthews in August ‘22 to replace our roof and gutters. Midway through the project, Chicago experienced summer storms. Despite these being forecasted all week, Matthews neglected to sufficiently tarp the ongoing work. As a result, the entire north side of the building experienced flooding, with the top floor unit experiencing flooding so severe that the owners have been forced to evacuate for nearly four months while entire walls, ceilings, floors, and electrical systems are treated for water mitigation and replaced.During the storms, Matthews came out to better tarp, stopping the flooding and demonstrating the entire debacle to be completely avoidable. To add insult to injury, the crew completely destroyed a unit’s HVAC system, using the air ducts as a walking path and crushing them in the process. Matthews claims they are not responsible for HVAC system, and is denying any responsibility for the destruction.Finally, when work was wrapping up, a unit owner noticed that the front gutters had not yet been replaced. When we inquired about this with Matthews, they declared they would not be replacing the roof above the sunrooms or front gutters, despite the contract outlining a complete replacement of “all existing roofing and gutters.” They pushed our building to pay them an additional $4500 (on top of the $60.4k total agreed to in the contract) to do that work. Eventually they relented when it became clear we understood the terms of our contract, and would take legal action if necessary.Last but not least, Matthews insurance attempted to buy off the building (and dissolve Matthews of any responsibility) with less than 1/10 of what the damage will actually cost the collective owners. It’s worth noting each unit’s insurance provider, as well as the HOA’s insurer, has declared the situation a case of “pure negligence.”Matthews is a completely unprofessional, unqualified, reckless company. We had roof repairs done by another company and needed a review of the roof. I have a flat roof with no direct access. We have difficulty finding roofers that have an extension ladder. Matthews came out quickly and was professional. We had an estimate from another company that we suspected was pushing for work that we do not need. We did expect to hear that maybe some minor work would be required. Matthews reviewed the roof, took some pictures and said the roof looked fine and to call back in a couple of years for another review for maintenance.Service: Roof inspection

I have a beautiful new roof with excellent products and perfect installation all at a great price. I rec'd a quote detailing everything I could expect and Matthews Roofing satisfied all details. Did I also say, all at a great price? They also repaired and upgraded my gutters and downspouts and installed leaf guards as well as readjusted the gutters.. And did I also say, all at a great price? Be sure to get a quote from this fine company when considering roofing needs!

This company was hired by the seller of a property that i bought and Eric From matthews roofing passed and certified that the my flat roof has no issues and leak. Lets just say that me trusting their inspection cost us 24-25K for a total tear off of our roof to solve the existing leak issue that this licensed roofer told me was none existent. I hope you avoid this company at all cost unless you want to gamble your money for an untrustworthy and unreliable company.

My condo building association has Matthews conduct yearly maintenance on our flat roof as well as complete any repairs that are needed. Had and excellent experience, had to order extra pieces of wood ($900)because wood beams were rotten from rain water in our attic. We developed a payment plan paying what we can and Matthews have been excellent about working with our payment plan. Roof and clean up work were great.

I'd recently bought a house in Bucktown Chicago with a flat decked roof and a hard to find leak. I had several companies come out and none of them came close to the expertise and customer care of Matthews Roofing. Eric came out a couple different times to help diagnose the problem, offered great advice and referrals when needed, and then when the time came to fix the problem identified a cost effective and efficient solution. I will go to no other roofing company after this experience, and I highly recommend you ask for Eric if you can get him. What a pleasure working with a customer focused company like this!

6-18-2018I want to thank Eric ****** of Matthew’s Roofing for all his assistance, expertise, and for the proposed bid on our church roof. Eric come out numerous times to do core samples, inspection, and assessment of our roof. One of the times Eric came out was the coldest days of the year when he took measurements. Eric went back and drew up an awesome proposal and came back and met with us with detailing the whole process. Eric showed us every step of the tear off and replacement procedure sometime using drawings illustrating the process, and explained everything by showing us samples of materials such as Polyisocyanurate Insulation, 60 mill TPO, and pictures of Pipe boots, gravel-stop/fascia, and robotic heat welding machine etc. Throughout this process Eric was patient and answered our questions in great detail. We have talked numerous times on the phone tweaking the proposed contract. I was very impressed with Eric and would highly recommend Matthew’s Roofing.

Clean up was horrible left lot of debris in gutters which clogged them up. When I had the gutters replaced the company said there was no gutter apron . Which matthews roofing charged me for and didnt install. When called they nevered replyed.
