TAR Roofing did an excellent job replacing the flat roof of my Logan Square 4-flat a couple weeks ago. I must have sourced quotes from 10 different contractors before TAR provided us with a thorough, easy-to-understand assessment and solution - which came in at a lower cost than anybody else we'd spoken to. They were very easy to deal with!The owner, Damian, came out to personally inspect our roof and provide us with the quote and once we decided to work with them, the project manager Dominik was so communicative and able to answer our endless barrage of questions at seemingly all times of the day & night. They handled our roof replacement with great care for our property, and left without a trace once the work was done.Best of all: no surprises on the final invoice, no unpleasant interactions with roofers, just efficient and effective professionals who were able to fully tear off and replace our entire roof in just 2 days. I will refer them to anybody in my brokerage who needs a great, reliable roofing company and would 100% use them again for roofing needs in the future!

I own a single family home in Chicago. We had problems with squirrels accessing the eaves on the side of our house. We hired TAR roofing to replace the vinyl siding enclosing the eaves with a stronger material such as aluminum. TAR Roofing performed the work on time and on budget according to the quote they provided. I can highly recommend TAR roofing to anyone needed roofing repair or replacement.

While we only moved forward with the first level roof, their work was quality and communication was consistent and reliable throughout the project. TAR Roofing performed a tear off roof replacement and install of new seamless gutters with a leaf guard on our house. They got the roof done in one day and the gutters done the next, which was great. When I flagged that a section of fascia that had been quoted to be replaced had been missed, they got someone out as soon as the weather allowed and were very communicative throughout the process. Never once brought up the final payment until the last bit of work was finished, even though the remaining bit was a small fraction of the total job. Krystian, the inspector, was great, as was Dominik, our project coordinator. While I am hoping not to need their services for a very long time, I can definitely recommend TAR Roofing for any roofing or gutter job.

I want to share a fair review of TAR Restoration.Background: We hired TAR Restoration to replace the flat roof on our 6-unit condo building in the Ukrainian Village spring of 2022.The Good: The crew worked hard and fast and eventually replaced our roof and fixed the leaks we were experiencing.The Bad: The company struggled with transparency in pricing/over charging, quality, and repairing damages.Pricing transparency: The original quote for our roof was $50,000, but the final bill was almost $75,000, an overcharge of 50%! Our roof was in very poor condition, so the rafters had to be reinforced to support the roof.First, up front there was no communication that "rafter repair" meant sistering the rafters with 2x4s, which should have be communicated better. Second, they marked up the 2x4s board 12x and charged $12.5/ft. I understand they have to get the lumber to the site, but a 12x mark up is not ok.Quality: The crew worked very fast, but the quality suffered because of it. For instance, there were many holes in the seams where the rubber roof joins that they had to fix, when repainting railing that the had damaged they did it an hour before a rainstorm so all the color pealed off, and some of the caulking work was so poorly done that I had to redo it to fill gaps due to sloppy work.Repairing Damages: Perhaps worst of all where the damages that the crew caused to the old roof while installing the new one. This resulted in major leaks in our master bedroom, master bathroom, and damaged our hardwood floors. The company offered to fix the ceiling and walls, but didn't want to fix the floor properly (they offered a credit that only covered a fraction of the damage), so we had to file an insurance claim. With scheduling of construction crews it's going to take all summer to fix our bedroom, bathroom and floors. We have a 10-month old baby which makes this even more difficult. I've attached photos of the damage to our condo and a video of the leak.SUMMARY: I would not recommend TAR based on the damage caused in the process of fixing our roof and the issues we had with pricing transparency.Service: Roof installation

My first time using with TAR restoration. I was referred by my friend. Had my fireplace chimney removed from roof to ceiling so I could do the rest after. Waited 6 months to see if everything was good. No leaks and happy with their work. Pricing is fair, crew was professional. I would have expected an additional support between the rafters where the chimney used be but as long as no one is walking in that spot it is ok. Also better color match for the shingles. See pics. I would still use them again, just ask more details next time.

I reached out to TAR Restoration when I noticed a few shingles had fallen off my roof after a storm, and I'm sure glad I did. Krystian, who was very knowledgeable and professional, came to inspect my roof and he explained that some of the shingles were not properly nailed and showed me some of the problem areas he identified. Additionally, I wanted a section of my roof patched as I planned on eliminating a chimney that was no longer in use. Coordinating a mason and a roofer as to not have any potential problems arise due to weather is always a difficult task. Much to my surprise, I expressed my concerns regarding timing to Dominik (Project s supervisor) and he dispatched his crew, who took care of everything. I even asked for pictures of some of the changes to the roof, since I was not about to get up there, and they quickly provided them. While I liked their sales process and their speed to get started, they forgot to do the drip pan (which they ripped out) and now parts or the wood is exposed. I am now having another roofing company come and fix part of the house where water got through and we now have mold. Also, i would look at the reviews for tar restoration. Ive used TAR a few times now. A testament to their quality. They recently replaced a cedar shingle roof with asphalt. The underlying plywood and framing had water damage which was all repaired and replaced. The new roof looks great. Additionally the communication and desire to make the customer happy was evident throughout the job. The prices were fair and competitive. I hired TAR a few months ago after moving into a house as a new owner. The old roof had significant wear, and the flashing around the chimney and other extrusions had been done with tar instead of aluminum. TAR sent out an expert who took a look at the roof on my house and garage, and checked from below in the attic. He came back with a quote $500 less than the next-best quote I received, and had an excellent suggestion for the garage.I ultimately hired TAR to just do the house roof, and they scheduled me for two weeks out. Then, the next day, they let me know a commercial job had been delayed, and they asked if I was ok with them coming out that week! I of course said yes, so one of their guys came by that day to offload the supplies in my front yard. The crew showed up the next morning at 8am and were done with everything, including cleanup, by 2pm.They were super professional, and cleaned up really well. In the time since they came out, I have only found 3 roofing nails around the yard - considering they did the entire roof, I call that some amazing cleanup. They also were really tolerant and patient with my elderly neighbor coming over and asking them a bunch of racist questions about where they were from. Overall, couldn't be happier with hiring TAR.It's just a roof so it's not flashy or extravagant, but they did a good job. Wish I could write a review from 10 years in the future, but the flashing all looks great, the gutters are in good shape, and it stood up to a hailstorm a few weeks ago without any signs of damage.
