This was by far one of the smoothest and easiest interactions with a contractor I have had in a long time, for a project of this size. After much research, I contacted American Vintage Home for a quote on installing a SpacePak high velocity air conditioning system in my vintage (1927) home. Bruce came out and walked the house with me, measured each and every room and answered all my questions. Once the job was laid out, I worked with Kevin to get all the paperwork squared away, it took about a day and then a week and a half later the job started.Mike was my installer for the entire project, with Alexis assisting. Mike was great to work with from day one. He came in and we walked the house, reviewed the original scope and made adjustments where necessary. Explained everything they were going to do each day. They showed up on time, and were amazingly clean. By the time they finished, it looked like I had always central air conditioning.I am beyond happy with the work Mike and American Vintage Home provided. I would not hesitate to recommend them.

Joe of American Vintage Home was amazing in his thorough approach to discovering that our pipes were old and clogged beyond saving. He was so thoughtful, kind , knowledgeable and efficient and kept us fully informed as to what was happening. From start to finish this is the company to use. The salesman/engineer/ project manager, Craig, was incredibly knowledgeable and absolutely amazing at explaining all the options and what was best for my home and all its 100 year old issues. The install team of Rafal and Patrick was a dream team of old home surgeons. They treated my house as if it was their own. Minimally invasive to the walls, clean after everyday, and was always in a great mood when they got here.Thankfully my house needs more work so I get to see these guys again. American Vintage Home has amazing technicians who are very knowledgeable, friendly, and take the time to make sure you understand what they are doing and why. I have worked with them on two occasions: The first was Andres who replaced all of the valves on our radiators. Most recently, Rafael, inspected and repaired our SpacePak. Both times, when work was completed, they cleaned up the work areas. I highly recommend American Vintage, especially if you have an older home. Not every company knows how to work on older homes.

This was our first experience with American Vintage Home. Our technician John was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. As he uncovered problems to our system, he let us know what needed to be repaired now and what could wait.His explanations were very thorough and understandable. Steve was very professional and responsive to our needs. He was very thorough in checking the boiler and entire system and his installation of the new expansion tank and new valves was excellent. He had to drain the entire system in order to be able to install the new expansion tank and he did this very quickly and carefully. He also checked and bled all the radiators after the system was functional. He is an excellent and thorough worker. It was a pleasure to have him working on our boiler. As a subscriber to AVH’s home maintenance plan, I was due for my annual free heating system cleaning and inspection. Sam spent the better part of an hour inspecting my boiler, then gave me options with a complete, discounted price breakdown of heating system components that require maintenance. I chose just one of those options, a power flushing to free up a clog that was preventing the radiator in our bedroom from working. This worked beautifully. The radiator provided good, even heating last night and throughout the day today. Also, I’m happy with AVH for their consistent professionalism over the past 5 years. I especially like the fact that they call the day before and the morning of the appointment, and then call again to let me know when the technician is on their way.Service: Heating system maintenance

American Vintage Home installed two SpacePak systems in our home. From the moment of install, the upstairs system runs the fan 100% of the time no matter what the thermostat is calling for. I waited too long to report this (2 years) and they refused to waive the service call fee and planned to charge for labor despite this being an issue from installation. The systems were expensive to install and I expected more from them. Will not be using them again.

Edit:Since the review they reached out and corrected bill in a fair way. I did not have to pay for the service that did not resolve the problem. The final bill is 1200.-----------------I had standing water on one of my exterior downspouts that was not draining properly. I wanted this to cleared before it got frozen and cause further damage. Our home is new construction built from scratch in 2018 from a highly reputable builder. I found American Vintage Home through a web search. Upon seeing that they were local to Evanston and claimed on their website "No Surprise pricing," it seemed like a win.They have a $99 "Unclog and Restore Flow to any drain" coupon on their website. I had called, verified that we're able to apply the coupon, and scheduled an appointment for the following day 1/12/2024.Their plumber, they came out and was not able to unclog the exterior drain pipe. He then proceeded to sell me the Rodder Service to unclog it. This service was billed at $720. The Rodder Service was also unsuccessful. He had to call the office. American Vintage Home then said it needed to camera the gutter lines and jet the down spouts. The next day, Saturday (1/13) another technician came out to camera and water jet the lines. This tech said that rodding wouldn't have resolved it. Water jetting the lines did resolve the issue. We paid $720, and they happily collected it without having resolved the problem yet. Later, they convinced me that the issue would only be resolved with "Jetting the down spouts", which is a $1,200 job. We argued hard to get a full discount for the $720 service, but they only gave a $250 discount.I am leaving the two star review due to the UP SELLING OF UNNECESSARY SERVICES AND VAGUENESS OF THIS ENTIRE PROCESS. American Vintage Home claims to have "No Surprise Pricing" which they will in fact surprise you with it after they have sold you unnecessary and costly steps to aide in solving your plumbing problems.Their prices are also 50% higher than our local plumbers. It makes me regret falling victim to their bait "$99 coupon" and not just calling our own reliable plumber we have been using.The core problem with their business model is that they are not really interested in solving your problem; they are interested it selling you "services" which they call "jobs" until your problem is solved. If "job A" does not work for you, your money is wasted. Tony was very helpful in diagnosing the problem and getting me set up to get new piping to my kitchen sink, however Jerry wrote an estimate for $1800 which included removing old piping and put in new piping to my kitchen sink. When the plumber showed up he did not do what was on the invoice. Instead he cut the pipes and took an easier path. He left my faucet not working properly. He tried to take it apart and get the junk out, but it still is not working the way it was before he put in a new pipe. They sent only one guy for the job who was done in 3 hours. I called the office to complain about the cost. I talked to Chris. He said he would look into it and call me back. That didn’t happen. They just sent the bill to collections. I have been a good customer and have even recommended them to others. I am very disappointed in both Jerry and Chris. Way to gouge a good customer.Service: Plumbing pipe repair
