Found this online after the fact... On March 18, 2011, the Roofing Advisory Board of the Illinois Division of Professional and Financial Regulation revoked the roofing license of Tri County Roofing, Inc (Jim Machnik (Owner)) due to incompetency by installing a shingled roof with a ridge vent on a low slope roof, failure to respond to a 60 day letter and for submission of a falsified bond. The Board also imposed a $10,000 fine on the company. This guy is the type that give contractors a bad name. DO NOT USE... I REPEAT DO NOT USE!!!What happened --- A simple everyday type ‘thing’ turned into a major pain in the butt because the guy is obviously incompetent! I was looking at buying a house in Johnsburg, IL. The roof was in pretty rough shape so I wanted an inspection by a professional to ascertain and provide a quote for the cost to make roof ‘right’. I found this guy with a simple google search for a ‘roofer’ in 60051. Two companies came up. The first wanted 275.00 to do such I thing. The second was Tri County Roofing Co who answered the phone Tri County Roofing been in business since 1986 I think he said, he wanted 75.00 to inspect and write up a proposal for the cost of whatever repairs were needed. We set a time and date for which he showed up an hour late. He seemed like a decent and knowledgeable guy and promised to email a quote on Tues (we met on Thursday) so I would have my quote in five days. On the sixth day I called him and he said he thought his “office” had already sent it. I asked that he resend again and if he could give me his email address so that I could send him mine so that there would be no mistakes… he said he was not sure what his email address was. Long and short was that I called him every day for 10 more days and it just got weirder and weirder. On the third day he stopped picking up his phone. On the fifth day he would pick up the phone and say hello… hello… hello as if he could not hear me. On the 7th day I called him at 7 PM and he must have been drunk and or on crack as he was with another person and was screaming and cursing some crazed stuff. Then it was back to getting his voicemail. In the end I never did get a quote from him.AGAIN… DO NOT USE!!!
