Had a waterline burst and flooded from southside of house to northside, called and they were out within 3 hours with dehumidifiers and fans. They saved us having to replace walls as the water had went under 4 walls. Everyone was kind and respectful and kept us up-to-date, constant communication.

Did insurance repair after tree hit our 4 seasons room. We also did other work to enhance the new 4 seasons room. Rick Green was our project manager and did an awesome job as this work took over year to complete due to Covid and material delays. Rick even jumped in do some of the work himself when they were short handed. Communication was excellent and attention to detail was on point. Terrible experience. This so called ‘company’ was contracted through insurance & they started a job & refused to finish it. Our house has been rearranged since thanksgiving day to get things fixed & taken care of & it’s mid February without their original project being completed. They had already been paid through insurance. They claim they will call us back & never do. Keep running in circles with them. Don’t waste your time.

My insurance company recommended Hays & Sons and they contacted me immediately. I had a pipe break in my downstairs bathroom which caused extensive damage to my first floor and finished basement. They sent a remediation team within a day and they really did a great job. Their project manager Tom Dunlap coordinated all repairs. He did an outstanding and professional job setting up our repair schedule and getting the job done in a timely manor. The contractor who he brought in to do the work was an amazing hard worker who did a fantastic job making sure we were satisfied with his work. My insurance company contacted Hays & Sons to help us with the water damage in our home. They were able to come to our house right away and start drying out our room with the water damage. The damage was more extensive than we first thought. They had it dry within 2 days after removing our drywall and carpet. They cleaned up after themselves each day. They communicated with me about their progress via email/text as I was at work. They have done a great job so far. I highly recommend them!

We noticed a leak in the garage and during the 2018-2019 winter we had a tree branch snap that caught the very edge of the roof, damaging the flashing. Neither were very bad but bad enough that they needed dealt with. We called 8 different roofing/restoration businesses. Hays + Sons were the only ones willing to take on the repair job- all the others just wanted to sell us an entirely new roof when overall our roof is still in a good condition.The guy who does the estimates was able to get out to our place in Steuben County within a couple days. He even came back out a second time after one of the other companies told us of a weak spot near where the tree branch hit. He apologized for not catching it the first time and we were not upset by any means because to us, the damage looked superficial so it is not like we specifically asked him to check that spot the first time. The subcontractors who came to do the repair were out here bright and early, and got it done quickly. They did an amazing job with the clean up. There was a bit of a mold issue going on in the garage due to the leak and Landon from Hays and Sons came out a few days after the subcontractors to take care of that. He did an amazing job, and also worked very fast.

Our house was damaged by hail o the 14th of May. Our insurance company came and looked at it and determined we needed a new roof and siding among some other minor things. I asked them if they recommended anyone that could do the job. They told me that they had worked with Hays & Sons out of Fort Wayne and their clients were happy with them. I called Hays & Sons and within a couple of days they were at our house inspecting it. Rick Troutner was great to work with and got the ball rolling right away. Hays & Sons took care of all the paperwork needed so we didn't have to do that. Within a few weeks, I was introduced to our Project Manager, Matt Naylor who was great to work with and kept in touch with me as to what and when things would be done. He showed up on the job every day to make sure things were to our satisfaction. The work was complete in a little over two weeks. The contractors did an excellent job on our house and we love it! I would recommend Hays & Sons to anyone that has damage to their home and needs someone to repair things in a timely manner.

Edit*Nathan and I did speak about this issue and part of the issue was no breakdown of services rendered was sent, just a simple invoice. After the detailed invoice was sent, the services were more laid out, though still high in my opinion. Will add another star to the review because the guys in the field and project manager do seem to be genuine and want to do things right by the customer.$4000 for them to run 2 dehumidifiers for 6 weeks. It was 6 weeks because they had to keep swapping out the dehumidifiers because they wouldn't work. On the second swap the dehumidifiers leaked, damaging the wood floors. The solution for this, Old English floor stain to hide the new water mark. Nothing to address the cupping of the boards and we had to hire a different company to come in and repair the floors. Why not put a pan under the dehumidifiers to catch anything if there is a leak? The techs that came out were nice guys and professional, but not impressed with the solutions or the cost.Service: Water damage-related cleanup & repair

I wasted 2 months of time that should of been used in finding a relaible company. I had zero contact for 1 month from this company, and send an email relaying my frustration and concerns and 1 month later learn my rep thought i wanted nothing to do with Hays and sons. We were talking a 100K job that would have been 20K plus profit! We used them once and we will NOT usethem every again. We are NOT satisfied with how the new flooring is installed because it was NOT installed exactly like the original flooring. The new flooring is supposed to be installed exactly like the original flooring that was removed since that is what the word restoring means and that was NOT done. To solve this problem I will have to remove the new flooring and reinstall it exactly the way the original flooring was installed since that is the way we wanted it done in the first place. Second choice for us is to hire a contractor to reinstall it exactly the way it was just like the original flooring was installed. Either way WE will get the flooring laid down exactly the same way the original flooring was installed. My mom is the home owner and she is NOT satisfied with how they installed the new flooring and she wants it reinstalled exactly like the original flooring. My mom deserves to be happy and satisfied with the work being done to her home. She is not happy and satisfied with how they installed the new flooring so that means either I will redo the flooring myself or I will need to hire a contractor to fix the problem by reinstalling the flooring exactly like the original flooring.

Hays and Sons replaced the flooring in my home 2.5 years ago. About 6 months after the install, I contacted them to let them know the flooring was separating. They took months to respond and then sent someone out. They said they would get someone else in the company to look at it. After a series of emails and unreturned phone calls the 2yr warranty expired. I now have to have the flooring fixed at my expense. Poor workmanship and install. Do not trust this company

They were out promptly and dried up the new carpet and had everything back to new condition by Thursday the day of closing. Great service and very helpful staff. I never write reviews but we had such a great experience with Kenny Belford from Hays + Sons. Our insurance company send the company to us after we discovered a pipe leak. The first company that reviewed the situation discussed taking down several walls and a ceiling. Kenny came over and located the leak by removing a tiny section of our wall. He recommended a plumber and saved us literally thousands of dollars. We will definitely be using this company in the future. Thank you Kenny!
