First, I want to provide a little background. I am a Disabled, Persian Gulf Vet. I also bought a home where the previous seller cosmetically fixed problems before listing, but intentionally withheld info from the disclosures. So, we ended up with a roofing nightmare that leaked like crazy. Additionally, the attached pool house couldn’t be used in the winter without having it actually rain inside due to the conflict between the internal and exterior temperatures. The main house and garage were architectural shingles, while the pool house was part rubber roofing and part basic shed type metal. None of the pool house roof was up to code. It wasn’t insulated, had no proper transitions between the various mixed media, and had a mix of real and fake skylights. Any skylight is a potential problem. Fake ones made from light, grow house plastic, are a true headache.Over a period of slightly more than 4 years, I’ve had at least 15 handymen, roofers and large roofing company reps out to my home. When they heard I had an almost 6000 Sq. Ft. home, they’d rush right over.Once they’d seen what we were needing, and how difficult the job would be? Well, the most professional of them would tell me directly that they just didn’t feel comfortable with the job. Most of them would tell me they’d send me an estimate and then never did. I tried repeatedly to email, text, and call some of them back, only to be ignored and ghosted.I even started telling guys up front that I’d had people do this to me. I told them, just communicate with me. If you can’t do the job, or don’t want to do it, please just tell me so I don’t waste even more time, to no avail. Finally, I talked to a rep from Roofle dot com. They passed on the job. But got me in communication with one of their preferred partner contractors in my area.Enter Mitch and his son Jake, from Big Dog Roofing, LLC. I explained everything to them. Mitch was direct and honest from the start. It took a while to line everything up and to get a dry and warm window, but on May 3rd, we finally had a new roof. The crew is hard-working and skilled. They removed the metal, the old rubber roofing, and all the shingles. They had to cut out and then patch skylights, install decking and blow in insulation over the pool house ceiling. Just to get us up to code. Then they installed a new, Bitumen (rubber) roof over the pool house and new architectural shingles over the rest of the house and 2 car garage. It’s gorgeous to look at, but more importantly, it keeps the rain out of our pool house. Big Dog uses quality materials. (Owens Corning Oakridge shingles and Mule-Hide Bitumen in our chosen colors in our case)Most importantly, to me anyway, they don’t waste your time. They communicate and will get the job done. If you have a tough job, or if you’re having issues with roofers who don’t return correspondence, try giving them a call. One last thing that I think says a LOT. I have cameras all over my property that allow me to see what’s happening in real-time. While observing the crew, I noticed how conscientious and thorough the guys (including Mitch, the owner) were in cleaning up and using magnets to pick up old screws and nails. The Bible talks about those who are faithful in the small things being trusted with the big. There are lots of guys who will do a quickie roof job. They may also be too quick in the cleanup.I feel that I, and my property, were respected by Big Dog Roofing, LLC.Services: Roof repair for storm & wind damage, Roof inspection, Roof repair, Roof installation, Roof damage repair

After a tree fell on my house, the insurance company sent these guys out. Response was quick, the work was quicker and well done, but the cost was insanely high. $500 to cover a small section of the edge of the roof with a tarp, for example. Stay away unless you've got deep pockets. card says they're at 7399 n shadeland ave, and the guy's name is Mitch Handwork.
