The crab wagons were homemade and delicious af! The lobster stew was great too! We also had the lobster roll with chips! You can get fries too but chips just gives your the crunch satisfaction you need at the end of a meal! Try the Atlantic Brewing company Bar Harbor Blueberry Ale! It's so good! They have a pretty cool brewery in Bar Harbor too! Our waiter was really nice and gave great recommendations! This was one of our favorite places outside of Portland, Maine! Can't wait to come back!Vegetarian options: Vegetarian options available!Parking: Lots of parking!Kid-friendliness: Very kid friendly!Wheelchair accessibility: No steps!

We rented a lovely house on Bailey Island for a week, and have been enjoying home cooked meals. With a Special Needs son with Autism, there are many days when it is just easier to stay home for dinner. Cook's had a lovely spot and well, it's a Lobster place in Maine, so we headed out.Yes, great food, great atmosphere, great music, but we REALLY appreciated how the Staff treated our son. His dietary issues are complex, and we had to send two things back. Our Servers were genuinely supportive, and while we did leave a nice tip, I hope that many future customers see this review. It is a great place with great people.Genuine appreciation from Team Sweeney.#AeternusUmbra (watch forever)Dietary restrictions: Staff never flinched!!

Very cool spot with lots of scenic views, friendly staff, and which also doubles as a launch point for various charter schooner/ship tours.Parking can be a bit chaotic during peak business but you can usually find a spot, it’s just hard to navigate through the pedestrians meandering around outside. The decor inside is very “Maine Coastal/Nautical” which is fun. The bathrooms are small but relatively clean. I had to wait about ten minutes to get into the stall.Parking: Free parking but lots of pedestrian traffic and during busy periods may be difficult to find a spot.

We went to Cook's for the first time on a date, in the 1980's, and have returned every time we visit the area. Several visits were for anniversaries, as was this. The lobster here is excellent, as are the sides, soup and appetizers. Our server was very friendly and efficient, despite it being crowded. The photos are from our most-recent visit, and a past year's anniversary. Good times.Parking: There is ample parking, but the lot is shared with charter boats and there are frequently large crowds of people vying for the spaces.

First time and meal in preparation for out of town guests. Sat outon the deck at umbrella table..Ordered the Sweet Tea, Fresh Oysters on half shell (6), Bacon wrapped Scallops (6) & Pan blackened Haddock sandwich w/ chips & pickle. Total: $ 61. Oysters @MP of $3/Oyster: Served on ice bed w/fresh lemon wedges, cocktail sauce, & another untried condiment. Oysters were fat, cold, & absolutely delicious - could have enjoyed many more. Scallops were quite delicious served on a drizzle of an unknown sweet sauce. Haddock very good - I did not care for the cumin taste of the side Mayo dressing so I used the horseradish cocktail sauce left over from the oysters. The only irritant was the blasting noise level from the bar area..so I took off 1 star under atmosphere. The location is lovely - could not ask for better. Very pleased with the decision to scout this establishment. Just expect many "MP" items and bring the Gold card. 😆 😂Parking: Not bad in number for the size of the restaurant..more spots in back, but these are staff I believe, so if you're staying in the area either walk or be dropped off maybe?? Just a thought. I would call and speak to the Manager for any suggestions.Wheelchair accessibility: Ramp available.

Cooks Lobster & Ale House, Bailey island, Maine. If your ever on Bailey island try Cooks fish and chips (French fries) cribstone red beer battered fresh haddock pieces served with French fries. Tarter or cocktail sauce. Fresh fish lightly deep fried. 8oz bistro sirloin steak, grilled to order ,served with French fries. Also ordered whole belly clams lightly corn battered and again this was served with French fries, market price today @$38.00. we noticed alot of these dishes are served with French fries, there should be more sides available like rice, potato gratinee ,fish chowder etc would add balance/variety to the meal. $$$$ open Wednesday-SundayParking: Lots of free parking

My timing wasn't great as I arrived 30 minutes before Cook's was closing. I was welcomed as if it was the start of the day's service. Conscious of the time, I just ordered a glass of wine and an appetizer. I found the house Pinot Noir very good for a house wine and was amazed when the Lobster Dip was delivered. The Server provided utensils that were needed for some of the pieces of lobster. It was delivered hot in a very delicious sauce with melted cheese on the top together with crisply hot French bread toasts. Although delicious, it was far more than I could eat. My Server transferred the dip and toasts to travel containers - that I enjoyed over the next couple of days.I look forward to going back to Bailey Island for a chance to try other items on Cook's menu!

Cook's is the real Down East deal.Everything exceeded expectations, including the lobster, the Haddock sandwich and especially the blueberry pie. Fast and efficient service and reasonable prices; strongly recommend. Our only regret is we couldn't taste everything on the menu.Get there early and bring your Visa card. It's very popular, and as far as we know they still don't take American Express.

We come over to the area once a year for our anniversary. This is the one place we have to go and have food. Never greasy always fresh. Great local beers from all over Maine. And every time I have been there they have live music on the deck. The pic was whole belly clams, should have taken a before pic... oh well guess you have to find out for yourself.

So we have been here before in the off season, last year and it was actually really decent and way cheaper- bare in mind I dont mind paying a lot for good food. The appetizers were better than our meals. The French onion soup was one of the best I have had yet, the clam chowder was decent. The chicken wings were absolutely fantastic! The Brussel sprouts were ok- a tad bit undercooked but the sauce was great! The calamari was calamari, it had a weird balsamic sauce and way too much parmigian. My fiance ordered a second beer and it never came.. The haddock sandwich was dry and thin compared to other places in the area, for twenty dollars it wasn't worth it. Now onto the lobster mac 'n cheese- I get lobster mac n cheese everywhere if its on the menu (same with the French onion soup) and it was so dry the noodles were kinda hard. I told the waitress it was dry af and she brought me out some more cheese sauce- which I split with the other person who also got the mac n cheese. I am thoroughly disappointed I paid 40$ for it. I go to Boston every year and get lobster mac n cheese at this restaurant on the water and its 30$ and BY FAR the best I've had yet. The atmosphere here is wonderful though, there was a band playing and the staff was amazing!

We followed the sign for a schooner and found ourselves at Cook's and hungry. Our timing was fortunate because we were seated right away; those after us had a wait. Their capacity is reduced because of the Coof..Service was great. It was quick but not pushing to turn the table. We never waited long for anything..I had the hot double-stuffed lobster roll and it was fantastic. The bread was not up to the butter and serving of lobster, but who cares? The lobster was sweet, perfectly complemented by the butter. Most excellent..My wife had the Lobster BLT, which was amazing. Lobster and bacon pair perfectly. Even the chips were great!.Overall, a great experience. Bruising to my wallet, but worth it.

We were absolutely in love with this place! Fast and great food, live music, and an awesome staff! We have been to Bailey Island thousands of times and had not been here and boy have we been missing out. This is an amazing little restaurant! Lots of options and such an awesome environment! We went with our kids and it was fantastic!

Great views, Great Food, Live music, what more could you ask for!! Ordered the quintessential Maine Lobster Roll at market price (about $25 at the time) and it did not disappoint. The lobster was fresh and Heavenly. We were treated with great service & hospitality.

Fantastic location. Views of the water and boating are the best. Weather was perfect. It's been a number of years since I've been here. Outside seating where you can wait then a different place set up nicely. Service was spot on. Food was really, really good. We are going to do our best to get back there before they close for the season.

So good! I ordered lobster rolls to eat there and clam chowder to go. I felt they were priced well, especially since the lobster you are eating is fresh. They also had a good kids menu, which I posted up because I didn’t see any pictures of one yet. Wishing this restaurant wasn’t 3,000 miles away from home, but so glad we got to experience it and the breathtaking views with it.

The old review! Five Stars. Continue to read.(The new review not so restaurant friendly SAD!! )Excellent menu/variety would fill all taste requirements. Fresh!Location waterfront key. Views, Adirondack chairs. Entrance a little hard to see. You can see the restaurant, small cottage lined driveway. Go slow!Outside, inside, big restaurant, generous sized bar area.Service fast and friendly! Even though they warn staffing shortages— I commented as such on the fast service! to hostess. Perhaps do the same. Positives welcome in this mad mad mad world!Enjoy. Very popular. Amazing views.Note: Was once the location for a major credit card commercials (2009)UPDATE SUMMER 2023! Very dog unfriendly!!! If you have a 🐶 your told to take a picnic table behind a tent filled cars at the end of the point where old raggedy weathered picnic tables with grass taller than tables, random staff cars.Beauty gone at this once eatery where I always took guests. NOW Patrons packed on the deck to assure the most tourist dollar!! Unfriendly guy/host! Very nice young women! staff however. We did not stay. A tragedy! ( I never write bad reviews I’m so proud of our “foodie” reputation. ). Won’t be back sad. We drove back to Damariscotta, Schooner Landing, their lab in toe and before seated on the pier the docile lab had a bowl of water. No one packed like sardines.Friendliness from owner Scott. Saved the day.I was so embarrassed 40 minutes from Cook’s. (Sighs) One star is for the lovely young woman who apologized.

My first meal of the season. We both had a bowl of lobster stew. Nice flavor with large chunks of lobster. Our appetizer was grilled Brussels sprouts, large serving.A great place to go for excellent ocean views and good food.

My favorite go to for seafood and beer. The best French Onion soup, Cole slaw, and haddock sandwich for lunch. Lobster, scallops, steak, and chicken are favorite entrees. Don't forget to try the lobster dip appetizer. There's plenty to share, and it's delicious.

A great find for a taste of Maine craft brews and cider. Good thing as it was a miserable rainy day and most everything else was closed for the season. Enjoyed a traditional lobster roll for lunch - to satisfy my need for lobster while in Maine. Usually wouldn't have dessert for lunch but our very pursuasive bartender talked us into a piece of the homemade (Maine ) blueberry pie and probably the best carrot cake ever. He was very spot on for both choices. Enjoyed our seats at the bar (our choice) but the main restaurant was also very nice. Windows all around for good water and boat views. They also offer a nice outdoor deck which I can only imagine would be very pleasant on a nice day.

We stop at Cook's every time we visit Maine. The food and service are both excellent. The lobster tastes so fresh! The drive out to Cook's is amazing as well with gorgeous views of the ocean. We were so pleased during our most recent visit to learn that most of the menu is or can be prepared gluten free.

Absolutely ridiculous prices. I don't mind paying high prices for good/fair portions, but that's not the case at Cooks. Also, if you're paying high prices for a sandwich or burger, the plate should be filled with fries and coleslaw. (Two things that cost the restaurant pennies, and ensures that the patrons leave full.) I got a $36 lobster BLT, that contained just 1 small claw (and 3 partial, chalky/fishy, lobster claw tips that I couldnt eat. - gross), 2 pieces of bacon, 1 thin slice of tomato, and 1 thin piece of lettuce. And, I had to pay for fries (and coleslaw would've been an upcharge too). How ridiculous is that? Their burgers are $16, and then you have to pay for cheese, fries, and coleslaw if you want it. Give me a fn break!! When leaving, we were talking to a man who said that he paid $65 for sautéed lobster dish, that didn't even have a the meat of a full (small/chick) lobster in it. That's insane! We all agreed that we were ripped off and leaving hungry. And, PS, It's not a fancy, fine dining establishment. It's rustic. The waiter that we had was nice and attentive, and had a pleasant personality (cute sense of humor).

Gorgeous views RIGHT on the water, had such a delicious lobster roll with yummy fries. Loved that they had a real fire going and got to enjoy a cup of coffee as the cold rain drizzled on while catching up with a dear friend. Love the interior decoration, ambiance, and non-stuffy vibe at Cook's. Highly recommend, even the drive there is super scenic!

It's been 40 years since we last ate at Cooks. We used to think it was the best seafood restaurant in Maine. How is it possible that it's gotten even better? This place is too good to be true, the food was delicious and the service was the best! So thankful for having a restaurant this awesome in our beautiful state
