I research stabila levels and this place came up as a distributor. I sent someone there to buy some, which they did. I went there and asked if they can send in two levels for me to be recalibrated and was told yes. I took the two levels there, l left my name and phone number. Over a week later I went back to buy something and asked about my levels. A guy brought them to me and said to send them in myself. I said you could simply call me to come get them.I was in Ellsworth and went into that store to look for two other stabila levels and a carry case. I was told the store doesn’t carry the 5’ and the 3’ nor the carry case . The gave me the name and number for the general manager and said he can get these items for me. I called twice and left messages, name , phone number and he never called.To buy materials, I simply go to Home Depot. I will never go back to that store. What ever happened to customer service??

Crazy high prices (those bring the 2 stars) finally inspire this review. But a few bright spots. Examples from late winter 2023- quart of Varathane stain is $19.99, exact same item at HD $12.98. 3/4” birch plywood approx $130 (maybe a bit more, and still not high-end ply), approx $81 at HD. Yes, HD is what it is, but Hammond Bar Harbor exists only to supply on-island builders and for homeowner convenience. You will pay dearly for either. Follow-up from Pro Desk on product issues varies - I am over a year trying to get a product resolution via one of them. On the plus side, Don their paint whisperer is a genius. Design Center team is good- but again, those prices hurt. Store staff generally helpful and pleasant, yard staff will generally help the DIY’er. Delivery can be a godsend. Comparison shopping requires time but worth it in light of Hammond pricing.

I resently built a small deck using very heavy 2x6x8's They always pick out the best of what they have and it's awesome that the staff loads my truck for me. At 59 years old it's not as easy as it use to be. Thank you guys all of you are great.

Was in a rush to get some lumber for a project on the way home, a very knowledgeable young man at the back counter (Russ?) helped me quickly get the material ordered, I had to wait a minute in the warehouse for help as everyone appeared busy. Once an employee (John?) was able to help, he quickly helped me load up and got me on my way. Great experience! Will return!

After several horrible experience at the Ellsworth location I had all but given up on Hammond lumber. But decided I'd give em one more shot via the Bar Harbor store. Thanks Tom in sales and his manager not only did they make my latest transaction a joy they also made right Ellsworths wrongs . Very unexpected and extremely appreciate. High recommend this location and ole Tom for your needs. Kudos for going above and beyond .

5 stars for the service in the store, which has always been excellent. Though, not so much in the warehouse. Hammond Lumber took a perfectly good company and ruined it with their inferior lumber, crazy clipboard system, stingy lumber cutting practices, (used to be able to take a cut of any length of lumber as long as you left 6' back in the rack) and on, and on, and on....I have yet to hear one contractor who's happy with the new deal.Many heading over to the Valhalla of Viking.But hey, at least you got a place that sells plastic docks.

Most of the people who work here we're working there when it used to be E.B.S. Friendly and helpful help.. you can get just about everything that you need for contacting.. Great place for the handy man if you have a question about building or repairs around the house they are very helpful...

Being the only large lumber yard on MDI it's really the only option. The inside staff is great but forget about it if you need something from the yard.
