I cannot give higher praise to TC Hafford for the waterproofing job they did in my basement, especially since the torrential rains of the last two years. My house is built over exposed ledge and as the hydrostatic pressure increased over the years, my basement looked like a series of waterfalls every time it rained. The work was professional, clearly stated, cleanly and courteously done from the estimate to its completion. I cannot over emphasize how grateful I am to this company…simply the best!

TC Hafford has taken our money and left us with a wet basement. We have never once experienced their “lifetime guarantee dry basement” with rain since paying $19K for their whole-basement system that Peter quoted us and we had installed in our home in Scarborough in Summer 2022. We had gotten some water in our basement, and got quotes with multiple companies, but went with TC Hafford based on their reviews. On installation day, they sent their B team (later admitted this) who didn’t use the correct supplies and ended up filling our entire home with concrete dust from the jackhammering and leaving the new systems SO poorly done and visibly horrible, that after much pushing from us, they later came back and redid the whole finish work and cleaned (won’t get into the idiotic placement of the discharge pipe that they installed improperly and also had to fix).The first big rain storm we had in Fall 2022, lots of water in the basement again. After MUCH back and forth, they came and jackhammered another line to the pump. Water in Spring of 2023, they came and put some plastic on the wall. Now it’s nearly Spring 2024, and after this past Fall and Winter’s rains with many calls placed and a visit made (from their lead tech Brian L, who seems to be a good guy and acknowledged that things aren’t right here) that ultimately went nowhere, it’s raining and our basement is flooded again.They have dodged and not returned our calls all winter and pushed us off time and again. I held off writing this review because I was still hoping they’d make it right, but we’ve had so much stuff ruined, and thank god we didn’t finish the basement as we’d been promised we could after we went with them. We have spent SO much money and time on this, with the moving of things around the basement again and again, the cleaning up of water, and trying to get ahold of someone, anyone at TC Hafford that to still have water down there today is so, so upsetting, with no end in sight. Please hire someone else and don’t make our same mistake.

TC hafford worked on my basement, it was a great experience! Louis came to do the estimate and was very communicative, making sure to explain everything in detail. He also answered all of my questions, so I understood what was recommended. Also his email came in a timely manner that additionally summarized everything we went over. They did the work quickly and efficiently and cleaned up well after. With all the crazy recent rain, my basement has been dry! I would use them again!

TC Hafford inspected our basement, listened to our issues and presented a plan. A friendly person answered my call and scheduled and appointment for the inspection. Their inspector showed up on time and I even received reminder texts about the upcoming appointment as well as a booklet in the mail describing common issues and solutions plus a write up on our inspector.The inspector gave me a written estimate with very precise details and sketch of the work to be performed. The workers showed up on time finished the job exactly as I was told they would. They cleaned up after themselves too!That was the end of our wet basement issues. Maine has been inundated with several severe rain storms. The water table is 200% above normal. Their work has kept our basement dry which means we get to sleep through the night and not worry about the rain!

He took the time to explain the problem, and his recommended solution. He gave us realistic options and was flexible with regards to our budget and other projects we had lined up.

This review is for an annual maintenance service for my basement waterproofing system (installed by TC Hafford 2 years ago), sump pump and dehumidifier.The service technician, Spencer, was the type of professional that you wish you could hire for all of your home maintenance and projects: highly knowledgable and capable, respectful and conscientious, patient, a good communicator, a person of integrity, and not at all "sales-y".I have an iron ochre problem which is very challenging for sump pumps and drainage systems, and Spencer was honest about my options, educating me about how to keep on top of the problem myself using store bought products, but offering a regular maintenance service from TC Hafford as an alternative when I was overwhelmed by the task and not sure it was something I wanted to take care of myself.All of the employees I've interacted with at TC Hafford have been a pleasure to work with. They answer calls, reply to messages and emails, follow through with paperwork and receipts, and do their best to help as issues arise. Many businesses have struggled recently with labor shortages, turnover, lack of reliable subcontractors, etc. TC Hafford is not immune from these issues, but through my dealings with them I trust that they are a company that aims for quality and professionalism, and to make things right if any problems arise. These basic but crucial aspects of customer service are becoming harder to find, and it's a relief and delight to work with a company that still values integrity and communication.

Although scheduled for 2 days, installation was completed in one day in mid November of 2023. Very professional and cleaned up well considering they had to jackhammer concrete floor. On December 18, 2023 we had approximately 5 inches of rain in one day with winds around 60 mph, but the basement remained dry. The triple safe sump pump system worked flawlessly.

TCHafford's basement encapsulation was the first step in renovating our 1870's cape, and has proved its worth in the subsequent two years. (We were able to get rid of our oil furnace; air quality upstairs markedly improved.) Annual maintenace by TCHafford is thorough, fixing any problems that show up due to wear as well as ensuring that the sump pump is working well.

TC Hafford came to my home to put in a new foundation, sump pump and perimeter drain. They used gas machinery in my basement and let carbon monoxide fill my home, as they did not vent the space properly. The fire department came and quickly ushered me out of my house, as I was told the levels were deadly. After calling TC Hafford to inform them, I was told someone would reach out to me Monday (this happened on a Thursday) to discuss the matter. I have still yet to hear from anyone. I called TC Hafford a week after the incident as I had not heard from them and I was quickly dismissed. I feel obligated to share this story for the safety of others. Not only did they endanger my life and my family’s life, their (lack of) response to a potentially fatal mistake is nothing short of disappointing and unprofessional.In addition, I paid this bill in full and I continued to reach out because there was a 14” difference from one side of my basement to the other. Instead of calling me back to discuss this, they hit me with a letter from their attorney. Before my basement was finished and all this came to be, I had even called to say how wonderful the folks were and how helpful they were. Then after TC Hafford pumped deadly levels of CO2 into my home and finished a basement with over a foot difference from one side to the other, this was how I was treated. I would never have called a reputable company like TC Hafford had I known this is how they treat their customers on the heels of their own mistake.Attached is a picture showing how much cement I had to pour on top of their slab to correct their 14” mistake. Important to note: I paid that contractor as well as TC Hafford in full because unlike their claim, I was not looking for a free basement but rather a basement done safely and correctly.

I waited a year to post this review because I wanted to see whether the basement system performed as expected. I am happy to say that we are thrilled with the results. We had the basement sealed with closed cell foam on the upper concrete block surfaces up to the wooden sill and we had the lower dirt part of the basement sealed with the plastic flooring and wrap up to the foam. TC Hafford installed their climate control dehumidifier. The basement remained dry through the fall and winter and the spring and all of the wood flooring in the first floor subfloor remained dry and we lost that musty odor that pervaded the house for so long. I thought the electric bill would be so much higher from the dehumidifier but in actuality, the bill was only 1 to 2 dollars more a month because once the air in the wood structure was dry, it remained dry- the dehumidifier didn’t have to remain on for long periods of time . Working with the company was easy. They were always quick to answer the phone and always returned their calls to me within a day or two. I did have to make a minor change in the plan and they were very easy to work with on that issue. The young men that actually did the work were just so pleasant to work with and I pointed out concerns that I would have, and they explained exactly how they would deal with those issues. They started the work on schedule and finished it on schedule. Such a great company to work with and they really value customer satisfaction.. I called them after reading their booklet that they gave me at a country fair - Crawl Space Science. I highly recommend them for solving your crawl space mess - like mine was!

This company is very difficult to work with and provides consistently sub par service. I strongly recommend finding a different company for any basement and dehumidifying needs.We have a basement with exposed ledge that puts a lot of moisture into our structure. Based on recommendations, we reached out to Hafford as the expensive but solutions oriented company known for putting in the work. Our experience has been the opposite of their reputation.We installed a membrane over the ledge and an expensive sanidry xp dehumidifier. This unit is literally sitting on styrofoam shims, the installer assured me was "fine." After the membrane was installed, I pointed out that it wasn't sealed to the walls or floor - it was just laid down on the surface. The crew came back and laid down sloppy screws on one floor. After reaching out again to our sales rep, the crew came back and did a truly hideous expanding foam seal. I dont really care about the aesthetics, but this was sloppy.A year later we did radon mitigation in the basement, and our radon guy was SHOCKED that this was TC Hafford who installed. He went back and sealed the membrane, saying that the way they sealed was barely functional. He also recommended seating the dehumidifier properly and fixing the lines for the pump unit, which was not adequately pumping.Then our dehumidifier stopped working. I looked through the manual, and it was clear that the pump was installed poorly - no u trap, and the drainage was too short to create a siphon. We just paid nearly 200 to service the dehumidifier and there was a faulty part.... And now the unit is sitting in a puddle of water in its own electrical cords. And - on closer look, the vent and intake for the dehumidifier were not sealed into the other space... So they are just drawing air from each other.I am stunned at how sloppy the work is from this company. Given their reputation and costs, I was expecting great service. I would avoid this company at all costs.

I found this company is plain and simply just AWESOME! From Nathaniel offering solutions, and explaining the process, instead of a sales pitch, to Samatha keeping the project organized, down to every detail, scheduling, and the requests we had made before the project, then Preston and his coworker spending two days hammering out concrete, installing the equipment and cleaning up after the job. All I can say is this is nothing like other services I’ve hired for jobs. It was painless, they all did what they said they would, on time, and all did a fantastic job. I hired TC Hafford after I had seen what they had done for a friend’s basement. I did not compare pricing to anyone else, didn’t care. After seeing their workmanship and dealing with them, I wasn’t having anyone else fix my basement. My basement is completely dry, and I’m a very satisfied customer. Not a clean job to perform giving only access was through the house to the basement.They did a great job of being careful and clean. Cleaned up area fully and made quick work of it. I found working with TC Hafford folks to be both easy and responsive to deal with when calling for information as well as setting up an appointment with their System Specialist John Wright who was awesome as well as knowledgeable about the waterproofing of a basement as well as all our options!! Easy to talk to and no question was a bother that we asked. Wonderful experience & they scheduled the job quickly and the team they sent to do the work showed up on time were very professional, neat as well as courteous. Dave the foreman was very good about keeping us updated on the progress and communicated what was needed for our new equipment to work safely & efficiently. He has excellent customer service skills & helped me with other items I was looking into by letting John know what I wanted in addition to our initial job. John called me the next day to arrange a date to take the other measurements for our additional work. I would definitely recommend them to my friends and family as we had a superior experience with them to dry out our basement & improve that space with the work we had done. Kept seeing the commercials about these guys and had them come do estimate on a floor leak I had in my basement bulkhead. Thought my work might be tens of thousands of dollars but turned out to be way less. They installed a trench drain and sump. Got it done in a few hours at a great price.
