We have used Winston’s Gutter Services for 12 years at two houses. They were a reasonable price and they were reliable and helpful. Good service. 5 out of 5 stars for historic service. After they were perhaps bought by Ned Stevens several things changed. I was repeatedly given a heavy sell for more frequent services, and upgraded service plans. I was told I couldn’t even schedule the day for them to come unless I selected the highest level plan. Otherwise they would just show up sometime on a day they picked. As someone who has dogs who have access to that backyard, that wasn’t viable. I’m not sure if this is actually their new policy or not but the lack of willingness to tell me a day they would come combined with a very unfriendly phone representative was very off-putting.

Winston's Gutter Services cleaned our gutters and seemed fine. When we called them back, Winston's had been bought out by Ned Stevens Gutter Services. They came and cleaned our gutters and seemed fine. We immediately received a call offering to replace some of our gutters. We had been thinking we needed that work done and accepted. We were also urged to have our roof and siding cleaned, an expensive service (and, as it turned out, a horribly-smelling one). We were persuaded that the cleaning might help with the longevity of our roof, so we agreed to that too.When the service was completed, we noticed ugly streaks and smears left on our windows. I noted this to the company, and they very quickly came back to wash the windows. I was initially delighted that they were so quick to come fix the problem, but I wasn't able to stay home through the window washing, and when I did return found that the windows were still a mess. This is concerning especially because window cleaning is listed as a regularly offered service, so you'd think this company would know how to do it. If the one thing that we can see so clearly is done so poorly, what does it say for the quality of the rest of their work?

We've used Winston's for many years to do gutter cleaning and repair on our aging DC house. They are always thorough and efficient and the cost is very reasonable. We are on an automatic schedule, so I don't even have to remember to call for an appointment. They let me know by email and text when they will arrive and follow up the same way. It's also handy to be able to have them automatically charge our debit card once they have presented their bill for our approval.

The original Winston’s provided excellent service: cleaning gutters and downspouts. The Ned Stevens crew had to be reminded to clean downspouts; they did not clear the tree residue at the peak of the addition roof which means the gutters will be filled up again after the next rain; they didn’t clean the garage gutters and downspouts. I paid the full price for 40% of the work.

I apologize for any mistakes I am making in this letter. I had a cyst removed from my finger in-well. I had a little bit problems communicating with somebody in your office. He was trying to explain to me why I needed to have a certain pipe scoped out and I did not understand everything he was saying. He seemed to be a little bit perturbed with me I think he hung up I was trying to find out why I needed this particular type of service and whether it was guaranteed or not and he took offense at that obviously. I think when I looked back problem was telling me that cleaning out the pipe as possible but the pipe might not be in good condition. Therefore I would spend approximately $250 to do something that didn't work. I think what he was trying to tell me that I didn't understand that clearly that putting in a new pipe wall to the street as a drain would cost me even more all I wanted to do was really have my gutters cleaned out which previously with Winston cost me go little more than $100 less the matter that it was $150 with last year's with somebody else. If you would like to keep me as a customer you should try to understand that not professionals in this kind of thing happens very rarely like to have some sort of guarantee that this the work and how much would it cost me to have that pipe installed underneath the gardenSorry for any mistakes that I am making. I can’t type today because my finger’s in a cast. The Merry Christmas and happy new year and I hope somebody will call me back to give me a more exact prognosis.Jerome Barry

They are OK, seem to do the job just fine. They couldn't give me a good schedule of when they could perform the work, except for a few hour notice. This is a rental property, so I could not get out to turn the water back on for them. They can do a dry cleaning, so all was not lost.

This was the second time Ned Stevens cleaned my gutters. The first time I wasn’t home, but slates were broken. When I called, they said they weren’t responsible, the slates must have been broken before they got there and that their crew knows not to get on slate roofs. Well they just came again and I was home.They walked all over my slate roof and the management response when I called was to say they would need to raise their rates to cover liability. They were not professional at all. I previously used Winston’s and was pleased with the work.

They got the job done in a quick and timely manner. Only downfall is that the price quoted over the phone didn't match the final cost, there was a additonal $25 and they do not supply a final invoice of the cost breakdown. Regardless I would probably use them again, recommend they supply photos of before and after to customers for better service.

This is now Ned Stevens. Like Winston’s they do great work and clean up what falls on the ground. Unlike Winston’s, you never know when they will show up including at 8 am. And every fall they arrive at our house when few leaves have fallen so you either need to wait until December or January or need to schedule and pay for any extra gutter cleaning.

They did a thorough job of cleaning the gutters and removing any debris & leaves that fell to the ground.They briefly used gasoline-powered blowers which are banned in Washington DC, and although not a major issue with me, some people would object!All-in-all, a job well done....

The crew cleaned the gutters thoroughly, flushed them our and cleaned up all the debris, placing it in a paper bag that went out with Montgomery County trash collection service. They identified a problem with drainage of a downspout that we will now have taken care of.

Winston's was a total disappointment. They so carelessly dumped so much detritus on their first visit that they killed plants. On the second visit, they said they would clean the entire flat roof and remove what comes off. They didn't. They bagged 6 bags worth (yes, a lot) , but left the rest up against the house, including all the way around the back of the house. The person who came to do the work was angry and rude, and the people on the phone disregarded their commitment and recommended we hire someone to clean it up. Not helpful. I will never recommend them to anyone.

I've been using them for years. You don't need to be home. They'll give you a time frame that they'll arrive. They have ALWAYS cleaned up around the house and yard where some of the leaves will fall onto the ground. Very polite. Highly recommend

Winston's (now part of Ned Stevens) provides good service. But their team used gas-powered leaf blowers to complete the work at our house, even though these are now illegal in Washington, DC (because of noise and climate-related emissions). I will be requesting that they switch to battery-powered blowers before using their service in the future.

I had a gutter problem but could not precisely identify it. Ned Stevens (Winston) detected and identified the problem as part of a regular gutter cleaning. They offered a cost effective solution and then with authorization to proceed, quickly undertook the needed service. Excellent result! Kudos!

Giancarlo was professional and I didn't even know he was doing my gutter cleaning except I had to turn on the water for him. The area around the house was kept clean and didn't even know he was finished.

They were supposed to contact prior to arriving, they didn’t. I did not know they were here until they were climbing on roof. They used a leaf blower to clear gutters followed by a hose. Leaves were blown everywhere, on car etc. No clean up afterwards. To be fair there were tons of leaves on the ground already, the yard was a mess under construction. One of the reasons it was so important to contact prior to arriving so things could be put away, not get covered in debris, tools wet in a couple places. All I needed was 15 min to tighten up and it would have ok, that part anyways.it seemed like these guys are piece workers sub contracting with Ned Stevens,, in and out as fast as possible.When gutters are cleaned I expect the cleaners to maintain some control over most of the junk coming out, normally it’s put into bags as they go not blown out all over and left where it lays.They wire all the saftey equipments, hard hat, harness. Not once did either of them tie off anywhere, harness was for decoration I guess, definitely didn’t use it.Service: Gutter cleaning

Booked gutter cleaning in September for late November beginning December. Did not come til January. Was very worried about my gutters leaves were all down by December!! Also, added on dryer vent cleaning did not do it that day said it will be done by end of January!!

First time cleaning - I found Ned’s too hard on marketing and sales. On my first call to schedule a cleaning they pushed hard to get me to schedule 4 cleanings a year. We lived in a similar home for 40+years and never had 4 cleaning a year (and never had the problems the sales guy described). We just moved in and only wanted an initial cleaning. 2 men did show up within a few days cleaned gutters and downspouts. They left me a door tag stating they found an issue (of course). When I called to follow up I got more hard push to replace 40’ of gutter and a reminder that I had not scheduled my “Fall” cleaning. Sell sell sell. I will get a second opinion before replacing almost $500 worth of gutters (although when I gave the sales guy pushback he told me he could give me 20% off on a promotion). The crew showed up but the exterior water wasn’t on so the spent 10 minutes on the roof and it isn’t possible that they cleaned out the gutters. Rude to my Mother as well.

Three ninja warriors showed up on times and climbed all over our house cleaning our three foot deep pile of sticks and leaves from our roof valleys and gutters. One of the warriors pulled out ten years of dryer vent lint and debris with a brush and vacuum. They finished the job in two hours and filled 4 large lawn bags with all the trash and placed it by the curb. All in all, a superb job at a fair price. They will be back!

Having my gutters replaced has been a huge hassle with this company. It’s taken 4 trips in part because the communication and notes left for the technicians doing the job is extremely poor. And then, when they arrive, they have repeatedly missed gutters that needed replacing. It’s taken a lot of my time calling back and forth trying to get things right. This has not been a good experience.

Winston's was a local business I used to clean my gutters for many years and they were terrific. Ned's is a private equity owned business based who knows where that bought them. As far as I can tell my gutters still get cleaned. This time they left a door hanger saying they found an issue. When I called, the Ned's office did not know what the issue is and said they would call me when the info came through. A week later I have heard nothing but I have got many emails upselling other services. And daily reminders to review them so here it is.(Winston's would have left a note explaining the issue, btw.)

We have used Winston's for a number of years now for gutter cleaning. They are reliable and efficient and do a great job. I like their program where they set up four cleanings a year. They remind you when it is time for a cleaning and you pay each time. It's great.
