I recently experienced a skylight leak due to heavy rainfall over the past few days. Turning to Google, I searched for local roofers and found John. After explaining the problem to him, he arrived promptly within half an hour. John wasted no time, promptly climbing onto my roof to assess the situation. Not only did he identify and seal the leaks for the short term, but he also went above and beyond by taking it upon himself to clear my gutters and secure loose nails.Throughout the entire process, John maintained clear communication, ensuring I understood the issues at hand and the steps he was taking to address them. His proactive approach and dedication to providing exceptional service truly came through in the clutch.What truly impressed me was John's refusal to accept payment for his services initially. I contacted John at Watkins Exteriors after another local roofing company took my deposit and never did the work. This left me in a very difficult situation. I had much less money to work with and still had a damaged roof. John responded within 20 minutes of my first message and came out to look at the roof 2 days later. After meeting with him, I realized how unethical the other roofing company was. John explained contractor licensures and provided me with information about how to file a complaint through the Maryland Home Improvement Commission to try to get compensation for my stolen security deposit through a Guaranty Fund. I explained my financial situation and he was able to do my roof with the money I had left to work with. My other roofer strung me along for months making promises to do my roof then making up excuses why he couldn’t. After first meeting with John, he had my roof on in 2 weeks. John’s crew arrived on time, worked incredibly hard, and had the job done in ONE day! If you want a company you can trust, choose Watkins!

I called John at Watkins Exteriors LLC to discuss replacing and installing 11 pairs of shutters on three sides of my home. John was responsive, provided a good estimate and contract proposal - which we discussed amending slightly with no concerns. John was able to schedule the job within a week and arrived timely. Very polite and conversational - and also very hard working and paid great attention to detail. His craftsmanship good and the entire worksite was cleaned up nicely when finished. It is clearly evident he cares about his work and doing a good job. He represents the local small business community well.I was impressed and pleased when discussing my needs over a couple of texts and phone calls - and then seeing the work completed today. Watkins Exteriors did through review of our roof problems, identifying additional problems we didn't know about. He provided photos of the problem and recommended repair with explanation of how he would do it. I wanted a specific type of cap vent repair which turn out to be the only type he installs.I had multiple quotes and his was reasonable for the work required. He did the work required in a timely fashion. He did a through clean up including scanning for nails. He mentioned he could get to some debris because it went under the solar panels and it would come down some day time in the future.Nice guy to work with and was not pushy at all. After our shingles blew off during a few wind storms we called Watkins Exteriors to come replace and repair the damage. Not only did he come out to repair the damage, but he helped us through the insurance claims process going above and beyond the call of duty to help us out. When the insurance company came back with zero dollars in help, he called them personally to request a reinspection. Because of the reinspection, our insurance company granted us the money required to repair the shingles missing off of the roof. The business owner is honest and trustworthy, always showing up in a timely manner and very friendly. I will definitely be using this company for future damage and eventually our roof replacement.
